heya!! okay, here's sleep from a buddietommy soulmates au i started over a year and a half ago where tommy is buck's soulmate, buck is eddie's, and eddie is tommy's. t r i a g l e!! anyway:
"Did you? Figure it out?”
Eddie was quiet for four reps. “[Eddie and Marisol] broke up,” Eddie admitted, helping Buck guide the bar home.
Buck sat up and pulled the bottom of his shirt up to wipe his brow. He caught Eddie watching him and squinted. “You—you were that upset about the nun thing?”
“I don’t know,” Eddie said, “we weren’t compatible.”
“Because of the nun thing?”
Eddie moved two weights off either side of the bar. “There’s other stuff but yeah, the nun thing was a lot.”
Buck frowned. “But you weren’t avoiding us because—because of anything else? We really miss you, man.” Buck stands off up off the bench and they swap places, Eddie laying back on the bench and Buck at the front, keeping his hands under the bar.
“We can hang out soon, okay?” Eddie said and Buck didn’t notice that he’d never actually answered his question until hours later, half asleep in the bunk room in the bed next to Eddie’s.
Tommy having flowers sent to Buck and Eddie at the station when they all have to work on Valentine's day and Eddie crying because no one had ever gotten him flowers before.
Eddie teases Buck a little when a delivery person hands him a bouquet of red roses.
"Happy Valentine's day, babe," he says with a smile, planting kiss on Evan's temple.
"You knew he was going to do this?" Evan asks, his cheeks a little flushed, but with a smile he can't keep off his face. Eddie nodded.
"He floated the idea by me, yeah." Romantic gestures, the big and public kind, have become Buck and Tommy's things while Eddie prefers more private, quiet statements of devotion between the three of them, It's part of their dynamic, nice and balanced.
They're about to head back to the landing when the delivery person comes back.
"Eddie Diaz," the guy looks between the two of them and for a second Eddie just stands there confused before stepping forward and taking the bouquet. These are not roses. They're orchids, pink and sweet scented.
"Aww," He hears Buck say as he pulls out the card with a note attached and starts to read:
For my champion dancer, with all my heart.
Realization hits as he remembers telling Tommy about his ballroom days. How the girls would get flowers from their parents and their partners after competitions, and how a small part of him felt a little jealous whenever someone got orchids, because he's always thought orchids were pretty.
He clears his throat, suddenly finding it hard to speak.
"Let's get these in water," he manages to get out, doing his best to pretend that his vision isn't getting blurry.
Summary: Buck comes home after surgery and heals, then determines next steps.

“Welcome home,” Tommy said with a smile as the three of them walked across the threshold and into their house.
Evan smiled tiredly and reached for Tommy’s hand, then leaned into him. Eddie was following behind carrying the balloons the 118 had sent to the hospital and the big bouquet of flowers from Maddie, as well as a stack of cards. He’d managed to amass quite a bit in 24 hours.
It made him happy to see Evan so loved.
“Let’s get you to bed,” Tommy said, steering them in that direction with no argument from Evan.
Tommy made sure Evan got into bed okay. He opted to stay on top of the bedding, already dressed warmly in a pair of grey sweats and socks. Still, Tommy tucked a throw blanket over him.
He was looking fine, but Tommy thought some good sleep in a decent bed was going to make a huge difference.
“What’s that?” Evan said, motioning to the gift bag on the bedside table. His voice was sounding better, having had some time to heal after intubation.
“This is from Jee and Nash.”
Tommy picked up the bag, then climbed into bed. Evan gave him a smile and even as tired as he was, it still shone like the sun. Tommy leaned in and gave him a kiss, then lifted the bag and set it in Evan’s lap.
Evan let out a grunt. “Heavy.”
He reached in and pulled out the cards first. A neatly drawn butterfly and rainbow with “get well soon” written across the top, signed with Jee’s name. Evan smiled and set it aside, then looked at the other card - a tornado of red crayon smashed forcefully into the paper with “To Uncle Buck. Love, Nash” written on the bottom in Maddie’s handwriting.
Evan pushed past the tissue paper and reached into the bag. “Oof,” he said, pulling out a weighted stuffed sloth. He plopped it onto his lap with a big smile. “This is so cute.”

Thank so much for sending this! I know this wasn't for the AU thing, but I'm going to approach it the same way. It's not going to be exactly what you said, and is sadder than you probably had in mind, but I need to work out some personal feelings so I'm using this to kinda do that.
1. They've been together for the last year and a half by the time Theo comes back into Evan's life and then becomes a permanent fixture. There's a list of things around the house that Buck has to fix before child services will let him foster. Eddie and Tommy promise to help out.
2, At first it's easy child proofing things, stuff that Eddie's familiar with from raising Chris and renovating his house in El Paso. But covering outlets and making sure the doors are unlockable from both sides quickly escalates to Buck insisting things like sanding off the edges of the counter tops and the staircase or Buck doing research into how durable the glass windows are.
They start to actually bicker when Buck insinuates that Eddie doesn't know what he's doing. Eddie, who raised his own kid and had to make his own home accessible for Chris takes it as a personal insult.
3. Tommy helps set up the backyard and wants to make it into a functional playground. He has plans for a swing set, a slide, and little basketball hoop. He thinks Evan will love it, but he's surprised when his plans are met with resistance and even a little anger. They even end up arguing over it and in the end they manage to agree on the basketball hoop and heavily modified swing to Buck's safety specifications.
4. At this point Eddie (and Tommy who has heard the stories) assume it's a new variant of clipboard behavior brought on by the new found responsibility of parenthood. But it comes time to put together Theo's actual room they start Buck's resistance to it. He rejects the Spider-Man wallpaper and the bed sheets with little airplanes on them (they didn't have helicopter print sheets, Tommy checked) and keeps putting off going to buy a new dresser ect...
5. They come back to the house basically empty handed and drained from the growing tension over the last few days. Eddie and Tommy decide to stay the night at Buck's (Chris is with the Wilson's that night) and when they've finished having dinner and Tommy is washing dishes and Eddie is cleaning up they don't notice at first that Buck has slipped away.
6. After a little while they notice it's too quiet and realize he's not there. They go through the house and find Buck sitting on the floor of the empty room with the most pained expression on his face. Something is very wrong. Eddie tells Buck it's okay to be afraid of becoming a parent, but Buck shakes his head.
"It's not just that, I mean it is, but...it just hit me that he's gone. They both are." And it takes a beat before they understand that he's talking about Conner. "I don't think I let it fully hit me until now." And Buck has a bunch of confusing feelings around all of it. Conner hadn't been in his life for that long compared to most, but then again, whose fault was that? And still, it hurts. It's more loss that he's not able to carry so soon.
7. They don't give him the usual speeches and grief, they're all intimately familiar with lose. How grief can sneak up on you, how you can mourn the loss of possibilities and what it feels like when the world won't wait for you fully heal before decides hurt you again. They just hold him and let him grieve, let him feel what he needs to, until the tears are gone.
8. The next day they go shopping and come back with some toys, a bed, a cute little dresser, and some nice sheets with little red and blue balloons on them. They decide to let Theo be the one to pick the wallpaper later, as a way to make the house feel more like home.
For you, Alec, finally we have some of the sexual tension that is the point of it all.

"You're good?" Buck helplessly gestures between the two of them. "All that was you being good?"
"We are. We're good." Eddie's looking right at Tommy, who has his arms crossed loosely with his elbows cupped in the palms of his broad hands. Tommy licks his lips, wets them, but says nothing. He stays where he stands and just nods to confirm.
"We'll prove it," Eddie adds. He crosses the room to get closer to their boyfriend. He hooks his fingers into Tommy's belt loops and pulls Tommy towards him to close those final few inches of distance between them.
The kisses they share look both tender and savage.
They both have their eyes closed and Buck swears he can tell by the tilts of their faces that they're in love —that they've done this thousands of times, maybe millions, and know the shapes of themselves when they lock lips instinctively.
Their hands are gripping shoulder and waist and chest and ass. Quickly, teeth and tongue get involved in their kissing. Buck loves it when Eddie pulls his tongue into Eddie's mouth like he's doing right now with Tommy. He loves the perfect pressure and sting and spit involved when Tommy nibbles and bites at his lips like Tommy's doing with Eddie's now.
They're so hot. Buck's getting hard again. He's still upset, still suspicious that this show is just that — a performance. That they still only look perfect together because of practice or because Buck has always been a fan and when you're a big fan sometimes you don't see things clearly.
okay so I started to write this b.e.t thing for the mother's boy trauma with tommy in his helicopter but I honestly lost momentum... but I also don't want to scrap it cuz I like what I did write so here's what I have if anyone is interested...
tommy did it again.
he dropped everything after one phone call.
committed another felony.
and he'd do it over and over again.
because he just couldn't say no to his ex and his stupidly pretty best friend.
he narrowly manages to keep his face neutral as eddie slides just shy of gracefully off the horse he'd commandeered.
was there ever a dull day in the lives of evan buckley and eddie diaz?
"nice ride," he greets instead.
blue eyes catalog the damage - cheek laceration and bandaged forearm. clocks the limping. "lovely disguise."
brown eyes glare at him. "shut up and get in the car."
"i am at your command."
he has to fight back the urge to roll his eyes as eddie as he quickly and efficiently hotwires a nearby car. and evan thinks the guy is such a saint.
he has a type.
tommy braces himself before he steps foot into the diner eddie had directed them to, leaving eddie behind to rest. its dark and dingy and not a place he would have picked to stop.
after his eyes adjust, he scans the mostly empty tables and booths and opts to politely probe the waitress for info. she isn't much help, offers her number for his troubles, but she does provide a name.

they rely the name to the other half of their detective crew in la.
"it's remote," eddie notes after he opens the address pin maddie sends through.
back to the hanger. they're in the air in seconds.
ok another ask for one-69 because I'm greedy, but I would love to see some Eddie/Tommy casual affection teasing each other good naturedly. It could be romantic or platonic. It could also involve Buck or not too.

Without further ado, I’m filling your ancient prompt💜:
Eddie was only distantly aware of the gentle humming of fluorescent lights overhead in the high-end department store. He was too busy staring at the back of Buck’s head. And the way that his curls rested there. Probably as long as they’d ever been.
Buck had said he was planning to cut them before their camping trip for Buck’s ‘birthday weekend’. But Eddie didn’t know how he felt about that.
It was Buck’s hair.. So, Eddie felt like he shouldn’t be offering unsolicited opinions.
Then again, Eddie had been quick to grow his mustache back when Tommy and Buck had said they’d like it. So.. maybe his opinion *could* have some influence.
Eddie nearly jumped when he heard Tommy’s voice low in his ear. His jumpy nerves settled warmly in his gut once he knew who was whispering teasing words in his ear.
“You’re staring like you’re trying to set his hair on fire with your eyeballs.”
Tommy leaned against a display case and watched Eddie with an amused smile as a blush crept across his cheeks.
“I’m not *staring,”* Eddie said, turning toward Tommy. “I was.. evaluating. You know. Assessing the nape of his neck for.. birthday potential?”
Tommy cocked an eyebrow. “You got plans for that neck?”
“Places he can put the expensive ass cologne he’s going to sucker us into buying for him,” Eddie clarified.
Tommy laughed, low and warm. He reached for Eddie’s waist and pulled him toward him. “Sure, sweetie. And what were you assessing him for this morning when he was having his coffee, or when he’d stepped out of the shower?”
“Why are you watching me watch him, ya creep,” Eddie said with defensive affection.
“You just..” Tommy chuckled a dry kind of laugh. “After this whole year together.. You know he’s our *boyfriend,* right?”
Eddie rolled his eyes. “Obviously, I know that.”
“Then you also know that you don’t have to steal looks at him like you’re a shy middle-schooler with a forbidden crush?”
Old habits die hard, Eddie thought, more casually letting his eyes wander toward Buck. Remembering all of the years that he spent trying to measure his glances at him. Sometimes overshooting and embarrassing himself; sometimes coming up short and accidentally giving the false impression of disinterest - or, he thought guiltily - maybe even disdain.
Eddie took a deep breath and let it out slowly.
“I don’t have a *crush,”* Eddie told Tommy.
“Whatever you say, sweetie.”
Eddie watched Buck pleasantly chatting up the salesperson near the display of cedar wood scents. And Eddie’s stomach felt warm imagining how any of these scents might smell on Buck’s skin. Merged with his own natural musk.
“Okay, okay,” Eddie said when he felt his heart fluttering away from him. “Fine. Maybe just a small one. He’s just..” Eddie trailed off.
“He certainly is,” Tommy said, giving Eddie an affectionate tap on the nose. “Now, stop swooning and help me find something that smells like he looks: you know - warm, rugged, deceptively high maintenance..”
Eddie chuckled and navigated through the aisles.
Buck eventually joined them with an excited grin that he wasn’t even trying to contain. “Guys, they-they have that citrusy one that I love. But I think I found a new one with bergamot and leather. What do you think?”
Buck looked expectantly between his boyfriends.
Buck smelled it himself, and then immediately pressed his wrist to Eddie’s nose.
Eddie inhaled, and his eyes fluttered shut. It was.. sharp, intoxicating, and undeniably *Buck.*
“That’s it, honey,” Eddie breathed. “That’s the one.”
Buck’s eyes brightened. “Glad you like it! I’m gonna go check out the samples for our trip.”
The second Buck was out of earshot, Tommy nudged Eddie hard with his elbow as he mimicked Eddie’s voice with an exaggerated high-pitched singsong swoon, “Ooooooh, that’s it! Bet I’ll be hearing that outta you later, too..”
“Shut up!” Eddie said, shaking his head, smiling widely - his cheeks on fire.
“You’re so absolutely gone,” Tommy told him, planting a kiss at Eddie’s temple. “It’s so fucking adorable.”
“We’re so lucky,” Eddie mused.
“We are,” Tommy agreed. “And I’ll never get tired of watching you get smitten with him, over and over and over..”
Eddie’s smile relaxed. “Fine, I’m not denying my ‘crush’ on my own boyfriend.” Anymore.. “You know.. I’m pretty smitten with you, too, babe,” Eddie said in a conspiratorial voice.
“Makes sense you’d say that right about now,” Tommy said dryly. “You fell for me under very stressful circumstances with that hurricane and all.. I feel a similar degree of anxiety here as I’m anticipating Evan’s going to seduce us into buying everything in the store for him today..”
“He is looking at a cashmere sweater right now,” Eddie said.
“Do you have any idea how much that pink cardigan I got him when we dated the first time was?”
Eddie huffed a laugh. “Only because you bring it up every chance you get. Oh.. Hey, we should also get him that leather journal he was looking at. He mentioned he wanted to start writing down some of his recipes. Bobby kept handwritten recipes, and I think.. Yeah.”
Tommy nodded. “There were some really nice fountain pens near the journals..”
“That’s the spirit,” Eddie told him.
Buck returned to them, looking between them with.. fond suspicion. “What are you two up to?”
“Just plotting how we’re going to spoil you,” Tommy said smoothly, pulling a credit card from his wallet.
“You know you guys don’t have to be doing any of this. The camping trip is my gift. You don’t also need to be.. t-taking me on a shopping spree or whatever.”
“Yeah, yeah,” Tommy dismissed Buck’s mild protest. “To the register, baby.”
They gathered their gifts and walked toward the cashier. Eddie felt his phone buzz, and looked at it curiously - it was a picture message from Buck.
Taken only minutes ago: a sneaky photo of Eddie looking at Buck with unrestrained adoration.
The text below the image read: Caught you staring 😘
Eddie’s heart did a silly, fluttering thing. And he turned his head to glance at Buck, who gave him a wink before focusing back on Tommy and the cashier.
On the way to the car, Eddie flashed Tommy the text and Tommy stage-gasped, and scandalously proclaimed, “He knows!”
Eddie snorted before happily agreeing, “He knows.”
The drive home was filled with the scents of sandalwood and leather; and the sound of laughter and excited planning of the perfect birthday weekend.
Now that the event is done, thinking I might make this a buddietommy appreciation blog and repost all the kickass buddietommy stuff I’m seeing out there.

The truck was quiet as Tommy drove him home. Buck held his hands clasped together on his lap, resting against Eddie’s jacket that he had draped over his legs like a blanket. Tommy cranked the heat up but the cold had soaked all the way down to Buck’s bones the second he got the news and hadn’t left since.
Eddie had volunteered to drive Buck’s truck home. Buck felt a pang of guilt that Eddie was alone, but this was probably the best arrangement. Eddie would have wanted to talk. He would have wanted to yell at the unfairness of it all. Not at Buck, probably at God. What Buck needed was Tommy’s quiet. Eddie knew that. Eddie needed his own quiet too.
“You hungry? Do you want to stop anywhere?” Tommy asked as they drew closer to home.
“No,” Buck said hoarsely, then cleared his throat.
Once they were home, Tommy walked Buck inside, keeping a determined hold of his hand until they were inside, then Tommy drew him into a hug. Buck sank into his hold and let out a sigh.
“You’re not in any pain, right?” Tommy asked quietly, hands pressing into Buck’s back to keep him close.
“No, I’m fine,” Buck assured him.
“Okay,” Tommy said, then breathed a heavy sigh. “I know you’ll tell us more when we’re all together, I just…I needed to know that much.”
Buck’s eyes stung with tears. He pulled back and looked at Tommy, then pressed his palm against Tommy’s cheek. Tommy managed a smile for him.
“Why don’t you change into warmer clothes, I’ll make you something to eat,” Tommy said.
Buck went back to the bedroom and sat on the edge of the bed. He knew it had been a gamble to keep everything to himself, but he’d honestly thought it would pay off. He thought the mass would be benign, then he could tell Tommy and Eddie and that would be it.
He’d hated keeping it from them. He’d had so many sleepless nights worrying about the biopsy result, spiraling into all the what-ifs. He’d sneak out to the living room and deep dive on his laptop. If Tommy or Eddie ever caught him it was easy enough to play off.
It had been incredibly lonely. There were times that it felt like it was far too much and he wished he could reach out to them, but told himself it was better this way. Better that the unknown gnaw away at him and him alone.
The door to the bedroom opened gently and Eddie walked in, eyes damp and rimmed in red. He looked at Buck.
“Tommy said you were in here getting dressed,” Eddie said, as if needing to explain his presence.
“Hoping for a free show?” Buck attempted to joke, but it fell flat.
