19/08/2025 ~ It's been a whiiiile
Officially back in business, reading up on my thesis subject! It's a bit overwhelming, so I'm trying to put good habits in place now: limit work to certain hours, planning physical or outdoorsy activities for after, taking regular breaks, reminding myself that I can actually not know things and I won't be shot at sunrise for it.... normal people stuff yk.
reverse gaslighting where i pretend to know exactly what you are talking about
To update this, the astronaut didnāt actually do it, she and her wife were getting a divorce and the wife plead guilty to lying to the feds about it
And framing your ex for a crime mid-divorce while they are actively in space is some Agatha Christie level shit

do you ever not write for so long that youāre almost afraid to? like what if Iām dumb now
You just gotta unclog the pipe. Are you dumb now? No. The water was sitting stagnant because you were busy doing other things (100% fine btw). If any 'dumb' got in the water then it will quickly leave once you let the water start flowing again. Go get all the stupid out into a doc that doesn't matter. Even several of them. It might take a good while, especially if you're returning to writing after years or after a period of intense burnout, or both (waves). But you're just rusty, and letting that stop you will only ensure you stay stuck! Go forth and write some nonsense!
this applies to art as well btw

You know what I think is really cool about language (English in this case)? Itās the way you can express āI donāt knowā without opening your mouth. All you have to do is hum a low note, a high note, then another lower note. The same goes for yes and no. Does anyone know what this is called?
These are called vocables, a form of non-lexical utterance - that is, wordlike sounds that arenāt strictly words, have flexible meaning depending on context, and reflect the speakers emotional reaction to the context rather than stating something specific. They also include uh-oh! (thatās not good!), uh-huh and mm-hmm (yes), uhn-uhn (no), huh? (what?), huh⦠(oh, I seeā¦), hmmn⦠(I wonder⦠/ maybeā¦), awww! (thatās cute!), aww⦠(darn itā¦), um? (excuse me; that doesnāt seem right?), ugh and guh (expressions of alarm, disgust, or sympathy toward somebody elseās displeasure or distress), etc.
Every natural human language has at least a few vocables in it, and filler words likeĀ āumā andĀ āermā are also part of this overall class of utterances. TechnicallyĀ āvocableā itself refers to a wider category of utterances, but these types of sounds are the ones most frequently being referred to, when the word is used.

One must always be careful of books, and what is inside them, for words have the power to change us. - Tessa Gray
āthis character should kill their abuserā i agree. unfortunately they wouldnāt do that.
like it feels like āsome people can have complex feelings about or even love their abusersā is tough for a lot of people to grasp because theyād rather have some kind of easy karmic retribution toward a character at the hands of their victims. which i sympathize with. but sometimes they just wouldnāt do that, you know?
How fucking annoying is it when you feel so restless with creative energy but you canāt decide what to do with it and when you finally try to create something it comes out shit so you just give up and sit there being all creatively annoyed and jittery.
1 - Decision Making Fatigue is a thing. --> Make a list of possibilities. --> Use a random number generator to pick something off the list. --> If you hate the idea cross it off and generate a new number. --> Continue until you either find a project or cross off the whole list. --> If you cross off the whole list pick a random short story prompt, write for five minutes, and call it a good work day.
2. Yeah, of course your rough draft sucks. Itās supposed to. --> Let it suck. --> You can fix it in edits.Ā
3. When youāre stressed you arenāt unbiased about your work. --> Donāt judge your work while your are actively working on it. --> Remember to drink water, take your meds/vitamins, eat something, and get sleep. --> Double-check to make sure the restless creative energy is not displaced emotional worries over something else. If it is, displace with intention and let the worries go into your work. You shouldnāt keep stress in your head, put it on a page, or canvas, or in a carving, or a meal, or something. Get it out and let it go.
4. No work is ever wasted. --> All time spent planning and creating is useful in some way.Ā --> Failure means you tried, which is good. --> Try again. Fail harder. Fail better. --> Keep going until you like what youāre making.
5. Love yourself enough to allow yourself to not be perfect. --> Seriously.Ā --> If this is a struggle I highly recommend seeing a doctor or therapist about depression. --> Because you are dang lovable, my friend. You rock. You do great things. Iām proud of you.
