deriding things as performative is anti third space
im sitting on a patio at my favorite cafe rn and im hand stitching them hem of a dress im working on. and i can see why someone would say im being performative by working on something like this in a public space. but frankly theres no element of that. i just want to work somewhere that isnt my apartment. i want to be in public, i wanna chat with strangers, i wanna see the world. it’s nice to hang out somewhere that isnt my home!
what i mean is when you say people are being performative you discourage them from doing shit they love in public. and thats no way to foster the world we want to see.
I...I'm not sure I can explain why this hit me so hard but.
Yuri Gagarin was the first human to Orbit the Earth in 1961. In 1967, the Soyuz 1 crashed on reentry, killing cosmonaut Vladamir Komarov, when the parachute lines tangled. Gagarin had been the back up pilot, and was banned from future space flight after since the USSR didn't want their national hero to also die in a fiery crash.
Less than a year later, he died in a plane crash. (A test flight for a new fighter jet.)
A year after that, the Apollo 11 astronauts set foot on the moon.
They brought with them a little satchel to leave as a memorial. In it were medals to honor Gagarin and Koramov, along with patches for Apollo 1 and the three astronauts who died on that mission.
And something about that just...
Buzz Aldrin talking about leaving the memorials (He almost forgot to leave them! 🤣🤣🤣)

I hate how sometimes the first thing someone asks you is “are you dating anyone?” And not in a “I want to see if you’re single so I can ask you out” way but a “this is the most important thing I could think to ask you” way. And then act pitying when you say no as if it’s some sort of failure when you’ve literally put zero effort into dating the last couple years and you’re open about that.

"going out to get milk" is a common turn of phrase used to describe a man abandoning his family.
the "milkman" is a common figure in stories depicting a woman's infidelity and adulterous affair.
this implies that the ability to provide milk would both decrease the likelihood of a man abandoning his wife and children, as it would eliminate the need for leaving to get milk AND would secure that man's marriage, as his wife would have no need to seek milk from an extraneous source.
therefore, all men should produce milk, through various means such as:
- being a cow
- being an almond
- being a woman
- being a coconut
- being in the omegaverse
- being an oat
(list is exemplary and not finite)
in this essay, i will redefine the nuclear family and explain the seductive and inflammatory nature of the 1993 "Got Milk?" commercials.
you shut your mouth.
love listening to my own playlists. I am so correct and intelligent and inspired
