The Met Gala 2026 : The Tree of life
From the ancient soil of the Deccan,
the Kalpavriksha rises- the celestial wish-fulfilling tree, eternal and abundant, the source of all life.
Two golden birds descend to guard it, beloved messengers of love and story in Telugu poetry, their wings cradling Surya and Chandra, the Sun and the Moon. Light and shadow. Fire and tide. The oldest forces of the cosmos, held in perfect balance. The Sun and Moon are not mere adornment. It is a reflection of time, of rhythm, of every beginning and every blessing carried through generations. In Telugu tradition, Surya and Chandra are the eternal witnesses, present at every beginning, every blessing, every sacred moment.
Shoulder crowns :
If the Kalpavriksha is rooted in the spine then the shoulders are where it breathes.
Here the tree does not stand still. It grows, it overflows, it cascades, branches heavy with blooms, leaves flowing like an offering to the earth. This is the Kalpavriksha in full abundance, generous beyond measure, giving without end.
One shoulder reaches toward Surya, the other toward Chandra. Together they hold the cosmos in perfect balance, as the tree always has, as it always will.
Entirely handcrafted in brass, copper and silver. All of it rooted in one tree. All of it blooming in gold.
