Out of the many instruments my brother has I've decided to showcase this Gretsch in my living space. Between my sisters and kids we're trying to get them all up or in our hands to at least attempt to strum, play or abuse. I'm leaving that up to my son on the drum set. His life's love was music and getting them out of the cases means everything.

Geoff ( @carrickbender ) sent me these lyrics before I boarded the plane to Ireland 5 years ago and even though since the day we met on tumblr 9 years ago I knew we were u2 kin, that gesture alone was so meaningful and is embedded in my heart. Having a mutual really understand the level of love I feel for this band is a rare thing to come by, but he got it and me. Music was our centerpiece, it meant so much. He was a beautiful player and singer, and thankfully I can revisit him playing his fav tunes anytime. I am heartbroken the conversations will stop. I will always think of him, his passion for music and his family and be glad we had a small bond.

Kings of Leon announced a new album and tour and for the first time ever I'm going to purposely miss seeing one of my favorite bands. I had a ticket for Ohanafest a few years ago that they cancelled due to losing their Mom... and no chance since then to enjoy them live. What is normally the way I cope and soothe is now out of reach because my broke ass has adult responsibilities stacked elsewhere.

At the thrift store I work at we get every kind of donation you can imagine. Today I had the usual box full of vintage goodies, among them some sewing notions that had fun 70s price tags and a couple of stand out loose items including this little tiny Italian box of matches, and these 2 ticket stubs.

Thanks to The Google I was able to find out the details.

On November 13th 1972 at the Swing Auditorium in San Bernardino Elvis Presley performed an hour show consisting of hits and medleys to a crowd of over 7000 fans for a whopping 10 bucks a ticket.

This venue apparently had every celebrity showcase imaginable from the late 50s to major rock shows including Led Zeppelin, Ike & Tina and The Rolling Stones on their debut American tour in '64.

This was the place to be up until 1981 when there was a small plane crash that led to the venue being demolished.

I really wish I could've talked to the 2 ladies dropping this box off, I'd love to hear the story.
