I broke my phone in early July and been using an old one from my grandma, it has no chip, so no calls, WhatsApp or connecting with internet outside home. I got to say, I'm dreading the moment I buy a phone and have to reconnect WhatsApp lol, let's keep talking through e-mail pleaseeee
funny watching the way #those City fans react to Kerolin posting a simple video on her instagram. maybe she should be actually disrespectful so those meltdowns would be at least warrant not a overreaction lol

i don’t feel like debating that topic much farther bc truthfully if it comes down to “women will lose to men in every sport bc they don’t have as much testosterone!!!!!” my elite feminist response is honest to god “ok we will lose with honor as equals instead of having our own special Easy Mode Female category so we can win amongst ourselves” like i’m sorry i just can’t be persuaded. i’m a brick wall. i want co-ed sports
i bring a sort of “women can lose at some sports against men if it means being regarded as equals” vibe to the debate that “testosterone objectively increases performance” people don’t really like
That's not why separate women's leagues exist though. Women were systematically barred from sports or harassed out of athletics. Much like the women's world chess championship, women's sports exist to provide a supportive environment for female athletes. It's not a "lesser talent" league.
Also "men's" leagues are technically all co-ed. Really they should rename them to women's and open. A lot of sports (and amusingly enough chess) actually do that already.

I’m a man and a lifelong sports fan, and honestly, I don’t know how many people on either side of this debate are ready to have the actual discussion about whether men and women should compete (but I will hazard a guess that women are better equipped for the debate).
At least at the professional level, by a large, men will outperform women consistently (Katie Ledecky notwithstanding, that woman is nuts).
This is not because men are inherently superior to women (though we have some slight advantages on the whole).
It’s because we breed and train men to be athletes, whereas we largely make women athletes by accident.
Historically, boys get more opportunities to play sports. They get better nutrition, they are more actively encouraged at young ages to practice and pursue skills that come in handy in sports (if you want the counter example, think of the disproportion in terms of primary school educators who are women).
The days of a random kid from the streets becoming a pro athlete are dwindling. Competitive male athletes at the highest level literally start training at age 5. By age 10-12, they are semi-professional, with specialized leagues, independent coaches, and access to a whole network of professionals like nutritionists and sports scientists.
Men outperform women in sports because society and the machinery of sports are designed for men, by men.
If we could go back in time and let girls train with the boys, would we suddenly have 50/50 representation? Gun to my head, I don’t think so. But I DO think we’d have an appreciable percentage. If you want evidence, look at the color barrier in the US.
There was a time the notion of black people competing with whites was considered insane.
Try to imagine most professional sports now without people of African descent. Outside of Ice Hockey, I can’t think of any that wouldn’t be significantly different without black players.
Most men I don’t think are ready to admit how much sporting machinery favors us, and it’s because it goes to the very heart of what we believe sports are:: an even contest with a level playing field.
If the game isn’t fair, it has no meaning. And so a lot of people will put their head in the sand about the issue.
The game is, and always has been, rigged.
The question is, what do we do about it.
I say, let ‘em play.
got into my dream uni & nothing is like I fancied it being. half is my fault for imagining I would change just because I was accepted and enrolled & the other half is just... being poor. honestly I genuinely think it would be for the best to just leave this behind, whatever
Cara Drook, Reclaiming La Belle Juive, (2022 –).
'"La belle Juive" translates to "the beautiful Jewess." It is an archetype of Jewish women that is repeatedly shown in paintings and media throughout history. "La belle Juive" is rooted in antisemitism and misogyny. My goal with this collection is to have Jewish women take control of their narrative and reclaim "La belle Juive." I want to return dignity to the subjects and show what truly makes Jewish women beautiful.'
idk if people in tumblr use rentry but I'm for sure doing one instead of this never ending bio
é complicado. quem sabe a Copa do Mundo ajuda a fortalecer o futebol nacional!
so used to talking with gay people about women sports that I do genuinely forgot that outside certain circles I have to clarify I'm not talking about men all the time lol
I'm so bloody annoyed with Corinthians. sure, all fans are to some degree (futsal fans more so, I suppose), but the way this club been handling their women football team those last few years it's so disheartening; the biggest team in all South America having troubles such as delayed payments, awful field quality in Fazendinha and polemics with that ridiculous new sponsor. it's hard to believe those women, the ones that won against Gotham FC and played an equilibrated match against Arsenal, have to play in this conditions. worse of all, where the money from Libertadores and Brasileirão are going to?
same country that will host WWC in 2027. whatever.

a month later for the drama or whatever but I'm really glad that friendly match against USWNT happened! not only it will probably help our players build a better mentality and (bit sad to say that) self control, but it also shows what kind of midia or accounts we should keep away.
to criticize Brazil is one thing; we did play badly! we did lost our minds! Tarciane call, for example, was very deserved! however, to say the ref had good calls/criteria is shameful. Brazil first red card is ridiculous, honestly I have no words for that Spanish ref, abysmal work. you can not tell me a match that ends with 10 cards for a team is balanced or that the ref did a good job with what she had; every single person that watches football can agree that "controlling" a game through cards does not work. at all. not only that, but there were many tackles that US did that would granted a fault if Brazil did it and ref let it pass. choices like that (somewhat strong tackle not being called) are no issue if the criteria is the same for both teams; it was not. I saw some blogs here saying that it was the price Brazil pays for "playing aggressively" and whatsoever for the ref would prefer to cool the match, which I found curious. Brazil has a physical style so when they get faulted the refs shouldn't make the call just because? will other teams outside of South America and Africa be treated like that too? from watching women's (and men's) football, I do not think so...
she has clearly biased and US team capitalized on it, but no one will call what they did "dirty" game (I would not either! USWNT saw an opportunity and ran with it. nothing exactly wrong with that). I wonder why! I wonder why teams like Australia may play aggressively/physical-heavy, but somehow global-north based midia and fans never talk about them like they talk about Brazil and Colombia. some fans are just looking for a tame way to call us beasts and uncivilized ;).
NOT a fan of condescending-Good Salvages tone some people employ when talking about Brazil with their commentaries about "joga bonito" or our talent too.
end of the american empire speedrun 🤞 i hope everyone in the united states military dies including your family members

I’ve always been slightly irked by the idea of “virgin” martyrs but recently I’ve come to realise that virginity for a woman of the past was something extremely difficult to protect and meant much more than just not having sex. Many of these martyrs and saints fought against men’s attempts to take it from them and paid with their lives. We always talk about virginity as being irrelevant nowadays but in reality, it’s representative of a woman’s agency over her own body. That’s something we value highly today.
It’s just another example of how complex the church’s relationship with women’s rights, sexuality, and intercourse has been over the last two millennia. Why would an institution we normally condemn as sexist and misogynistic (often for good reasons) hold disobedient wives and runaway brides up as an example of Christian virtue? Maybe the modern church needs to remember its past more in some respects…
