AU in showverse dm era where daniel sustains a fatal injury in 1985 forcing armand to turn him but a rift opens between them à la bookverse due to armand no longer being able to read daniel's mind thus assuming daniel will resent him for the vampirism and daniel feeling like armand only loved him as a mortal toy not as his equal so they have a catastrophic falling out and armand disappears

37 years later, louis sends a letter to the boy he met in polynesian mary's expecting a 70yr old human man

imagine his surprise when 32yr young vampire daniel shows up on his doorstep and immediately starts trying to kill his husband

Daniel walks in to see Louis, a lopsided smile on his face because he just KNOWS Louis is going to be surprised. Look, he made it! They can compare stories, and Daniel will get it, now. At least a little. Drag their makers a bit, bond over the all the bullshit maybe make out a little...

And then he walks in and ARMAND is sitting so demure in the corner by a lamp and he drops his bag and he can barely give Louis any attention because of course. Of course this is where he ended up. Of course he let Louis send a letter to Daniel to invite him here. Of course Louis seems surprised because Armand would be so ashamed of him.

Louis can barely admire the nice fangs in Daniel's mouth before he has to wrestle him into the library because of course Armand did something and never told Louis about any of it.

Meanwhile Armand is trying to spin this as "you said he was a testament to our relationship louis so this is my gift to you"

"i remember specifically telling you not to hurt this one why is he undead?" says Louis, with a knee on Daniel's neck pressing him facedown on the floor because Daniel is still wiggling pathetically like lemme at 'im lemme at 'im!!

And Daniel is not helping his own case by crying and saying shit like "did those 12 years mean nothing to you!! bastard!!" which is rapidly reducing louis' endearment to him upon realising that Daniel is a) the other woman, b) the bastard child, and c) an explicitly broken promise, which is just Antoinette all over again RIP
