the diet industry is so unbelievably fucked and it’s in your fucking walls. “keeps you full longer so you don’t get hungry an hour after lunch when you’re trying to do something” is a neutral statement of benefit but no we have to treat pistachios like crucial medicine in the war against basic bodily functions.

eating disorder recovery is just getting angry over and over again because food is treated like some horrible necessary evil instead of one of the great joys of life. eat some nuts because they taste good and you are a living thing that thrives on pleasure and calories. you need both.

I need to get some sleep but in case you need to hear it: you deserve to eat. your appetite is not the enemy. if you can, treat yourself to a filling meal of foods you love today. throw pistachio shells at people. be free.

I’m from Mississippi and it’s like this in my home town. Enslaved prisoners clean roadways, pick cotton, everything they’ve done since before slavery was supposedly ended. What they teach in schools is nothing but propaganda.

critical role fandom misogyny can sometimes feel even more egregious than regular fandom misogyny because the usual suspects can't even fall back on the usual 'well the female characters are all underwritten and unrealistic while the male characters get better writing' excuse. the female characters are almost all "written" and played by women. obviously people are allowed to have favorites, but there’s a pattern in the fandom where the women’s struggles and importance to the story are often downplayed in favor of the men’s. male pcs are allowed to be flawed and emotionally complicated in ways that female pcs often aren’t given the same grace for, without getting relentlessly criticized for it

The Eridians aren't like, a utopic society of extremely nice people who unilaterally hate Stratt for forcing Grace onto the Hail Mary. They definitely understand Stratt's trolley problem math, they don't think it's right but to them Earth's mass extinction deadline was near instant compared to their own. An Eridian child born the moment astrophage reached Earth's solar system would barely be ready for grade school by the time most life on Earth went extinct, with the exception of whatever hangs out in hydrothermal vents these days. They get that Stratt's actions saved her species just as much as they get that forcing Grace onto the ship was murder.

What they don't get is why Stratt had to put the last hope for humanity in the Eridian Torment Nexus to do that.

YES like they don't just start making Stratt a slasher villain in their radio dramas and plays, there's a significant portion of the population who are like "well okay Stratt is really scary but she's actually just misunderstood" and give her more of a Carrie treatment, and both groups have more than their fair share of parasocial relationships with Stratt.

There's at least one Eridian author who gives Stratt the Frankenstein treatment, in terms of both "Earth created this monster and yet they mistreat it" sense (because Grace probably told the Eridiana Stratt was most likely in jail in an attempt to stop the pop cultural phenomenon)(it didn't work) and a "this is what happens when you play god" sense
