I get the sentiment, but I don’t like those posts that are like “it’s not a phase and it’s never a phase and all (insert sexuality/gender/romantic orientation here) are like this forever and were born this way and if you think it can change you’re bigoted” bc sometimes these things ARE a phase. This narrative of things never being phases can leave people feeling stuck and confused and like they’re a bad person if things do change. Your gender, sexuality, romantic orientation, etc. can be a phase. That doesn’t mean that your present identity is invalid or that people can talk down on you. Respect and potential fluidity can coexist.

Edit: I’m getting lots of people commenting about how you can just choose your sexuality, like you can be straight and decide you wanna give the middle finger to dudes so you “become” a lesbian (or worse, you’re a guy who thinks it’s somehow more progressive), or “decide to be” trans because you want to be part of the group. I need to clarify that this is NOT what I am talking about.
