A fun little comic with a bit of sweetness and a bit of spice ;)
A different take on a jealous Judy than my previous comic exploring it. I love drawing an angry Bun.
I feel like it's hard for Nick to accept admiration. I think for the most part he wouldn't care and just be like "Eh, that's cool"(Judy's opinion of him is the only one that matters). But if kids look up to him, he becomes puddy.
Inspiration came after a reddit user gave me some bunny facts!
I drew the kids doodles with my left hand and omg that was weird! I don't like Doodle Nick's eyes….
Fanfic recs for your Wildehopps needs because I've been reading a lot this past few days and I have to share the greatness I found 🙂↕️✨
All of them are amazing and a most read. The first one has my double seal of approval because I think everybody should read it ✅✅

Hopelessly Platonic by SunRedDreamer

Judy Hopps is a hopeless romantic who’s always dreamed of finding her Prince Charming.
Nick Wilde is a cynic who doesn’t believe in love.
They’re best friends. And somehow… that has always been enough.

Because it’s easy to call it platonic…until you have to watch someone else take your place.

In the Heat of the Moment by dopaminefreak
Summary:
His fist pounded on the door again before he could think of an excuse of why. There was silence, shuffling, and then a breathless Judy. Her ears askew and her tank top strap had fallen off. Her shoulder has never looked so delectable.
“Nick! D-Did you need something?” She readjusted her clothing.
He didn’t know what to say or where to start. He just stared to the point that he was creeping himself out. Speak, Wilde. You’re better than this.
“Do 𝐲𝐨𝐮 need something?” He asked right back.
Her violet eyes widened. “What?”
When Judy sprains her ankle on the job, she struggles having an outlet for her heat. Nick struggles being without his partner and wants to help out in any way that he can.

A Perfectly Normal Arrangement by FunnyLittleOwl
Summary:
Nick Wilde moves in with Judy Hopps and immediately discovers a problem: they are doing everything married couples do, except for the part where they’ve never been on a date.
Somewhere between shared evenings on the couch, accidental “I love yous,” and learning how to ask for what they need without falling apart, Nick starts testing how much happiness he’s allowed to want—and how much steadiness Judy is already offering him without realizing it.
Everyone else already knows what this is. Nick is just trying to survive it.
A story about domestic intimacy, boundary negotiations, paralyzing anxiety, and two idiots who haven’t noticed they’re already home.

Wildlife on One: Run Rabbit Run by supercrunch
Summary:
She falls asleep on him, nose twitching as she snores, clutching his tail to her chest like he’s the small, fuzzy, huggable thing. He doesn’t dare put his arm around her. He’s not dense— he knows what this would be if this were anyone else, if this were a cute girl he’d picked up at a bar that he’d wined and dined and cuddled with all night on the couch. He’d wake her with a kiss and see where things take them, if this were some girl.
But it’s Judy, and Nick’s just happy she’s here, so he doesn’t wake her at all.
(Nick thinks he's writing down observations about the most interesting mammal in his life. What he's really doing is falling head over tail in love.
And he's going to be annoying about it, because he's a bastard.)

Neil Perry realising he’s gay at 17, surrounded by friends but feeling the most alone he ever had. He listened and joked half heartedly as Knox and Charlie talked about girls and romance and crushes, swallowing the confusion that was buried beneath layers of preforming perfection. None of what they said made sense to him. He’d never felt like that, not once, for any girl. There must have been something wrong with him.
One night, Neil goes to Charlie and asks how it feels to love someone. How it feels to look at a girl and be infatuated. How the concept of romance feels to him. What it means to be attracted to someone. Charlie explains obligingly, trying to make words of the feelings one usually wouldn’t explain. It was common sense to him. Neil didn’t get it. It wouldn’t make sense. He must be broken.
What Charlie described was somethingthing Neil had never felt. Not about girls. It never was. It never could have been. Not when he forced himself into “liking”this girl at Henley hall because it was the right thing to do, it was teenage boys did. He sat through a painfully awkward date, trying to feign interest but inside he was empty. It wasn’t the girls fault- she was lovely and pretty and kind. She was everything a boy would have wanted. She listened and laughed and told funny stories and kissed his cheek goodnight. The feeling made him sick. Neil didn’t love her. Not in the same way Charlie explained.
He came back to his dorm after the date, mulling things over. It still didn’t make sense. How could he not like a girl as perfect as her? There was something inherently wrong, deep within him. Something he couldn’t hide- the one act he couldn’t keep up.
Back to Charlie he went- the one with all the advice on being in love. His closest friend. The hopeless romantic. In hushed tones, ashamed of being over heard, Neil explained the date. How hollow he felt. How he longed to feel this love he’d only ever read about. How badly he wanted it.
As an off handed comment, Charlie made some stupid joke. “Maybe you like boys instead,” he laughed. It didn’t mean anything. Of course he didn’t actually like boys. Not like that. He watched, confused, as Neil’s face shifted from calm to panicked and guilt ridden within seconds of the words passing his lips.
Worlds shifted. Waves came crashing down over him. The whole world seemed to stop and come falling down over Neil as soon as the realisation dawned on him.
How could this be happening to him? After how hard he tried to be perfect, to be the perfect son for his father? After everything he had given to swallow the feelings he had as a young boy for his elementary school friend or the men he saw on the magazines his mother read or the muscular heroes in the movies he watched when he should have felt that way for the girls they saved. Why him? Why now? Why?
His mother. His poor, poor mother. Knowing her son felt that way about boys would have killed her. She wouldn’t have been able to look him in the eyes again. She wouldn’t be able to speak to him. He would be thrown out of that house, the house he hated- filled with anger and cheap attempts at forgiveness. He couldn’t do this to his mother. He couldn’t disappoint her this way. After everything she had sacrificed for him to get to where he was. After everything she had done for him. He couldn’t throw it all away.
And his father. He didn’t feel as bad for betraying his father. Nothing he ever did was good enough, always. He would never be good enough in his eyes. Never. If his father knew of this, he would kill him. He would beat it out of him, just like how he tried to beat acting out of him. And when it didn’t work, when Neil didn’t change, he would disown him. Just like that. Pass him off as an afterthought. Throw him away like he was noting to him, like he wasn’t his father. He’d forget he ever had a son. He’d tell people Neil died, perhaps in the war- anything to keep up his reputation. He’d turn on Neil’s mother- taking everything out on her. And she could never escape him. She’d be trapped, and it would all be Neil’s fault.
He couldn’t do anything.
Pale and shaking, he ran out of the common room where he was taking with Charlie and into his dorm. He slammed his hands against his skull, urging and longing for these feelings to go away- worsening the pain of the half healed scar against his temple. His vision blurred, blood ran down his hands and his knees gave out on him, dropping him to the floor like a ragdoll. Salty tears mixed with the blood, sobs shaking his entire body as he felt his life ending all around him with nothing he could do to stop it.
He was going to go to hell.
Neil never was much of a strong believer in god, but in this moment that didn’t matter to him. He was going to hell. In the eyes of all the church ceremonies he had been made to attended, he had committed the greatest sin. To dream of another man- to want to love another man stronger than he ever could love himself- it was a secret that could never leave his heart. Even admitting it to himself was wrong. Nothing he did could make it right. There was something inherently wrong and broken within him. How could he stop it? How did he stop feeling like this? There had to be a way. He couldn’t live like this. He wouldn’t.
Without Neil even realising it, Todd was by his side. Fear stricken and teary eyed, Todd took Neil’s bloody hands into his own and wiped his bleeding face softly and wordlessly, the silence speaking all that needed to be heard.
Of course.
Todd.
The whole time.
Of course it was him. Who else could it have been? From the moment they first met out in the courtyard to the late night talks in dark cold dorms, Neil always felt different about him than his other friends. He ignored it, shoving it down with all his other repressed emotions. Looking into Todd’s warm green eyes, he finally felt it- what Charlie had been telling him. Love.
The realisation hit him harder than the bullet that had barely skimmed his head. He was in love with his room mate and best friend; Todd Anderson.
Neil was so overcome with emotions, guilt, anger, hatred, love- obsession, desire. He couldn’t speak. He couldn’t do anything other than collapse into Todd’s arms, sobbing into his shoulder and bleeding all over his pristine school shirt. Nothing mattered more to him than Todd did. Nothing at all.
