goddd Iām SUCH a sucker for fics where theyāre together but shane assumes ilya hasnāt stopped fucking other people. and this misunderstanding continues because they never talk about anything real ever. because they are both too afraid that if they talk or fight or whatever itāll reveal that they care more than the other person does
If you think only white people can be racist then you're just stupid and probably never set food in any other country
Ilya Rozanov is NOT 9 inches. He's likeā6 maybe. Btw this is coming from a woman who has sex with men and is scared when they're more than 6. I'm looking out for Shane. But I see you size queens out there. I can't believe you, but I see you.
We donāt talk about this enough. With all the big romantic gestures in The Long Game, this, to me, is one of the most romantic moments.
We know Ilya isnāt a fan of Shaneās restrictive diet. He teases him about it, but Ilya is an expert ragebaiter who knows how to tease the people he cares about when they feel safe and in ways that never really hurt.
Shane is āfranticā in this scene. Ilya has the perfect opening to say something about his diet, and he doesnāt take it. He sees that Shane is panicking, steps in and fixes it. He was looking at that menu thinking about Shane and Shaneās fuckass diet that Ilya doesnāt even like. But he knows this is important to Shane. He knows Shane is already nervous about being on a date with Ilya in public and being with another queer couple. So he meets Shaneās needs without Shane ever having to ask, and he does it quietly, without drawing any attention, so that Shane can save face.
Of course heās gonna tease him about it a little bit later because thatās what they do. But he only does that AFTER Shaneās had a chance to catch his breath and feel safe again.
To be loved is to be known indeed.
it's soo funny how ur accusing someone else of being "male gazey" when ur a fucking fujoshi and write fanfiction ab men. the call is coming from inside the house dear. maybe look within or learn to read something thats not shitty yaoi and then maybe you can comprehend people's posts better.
I don't even know what a fujoshi is and I don't care. Writing fic about gay men is the least male gazey thing I've ever heard and there's in fact a discourse of it being too female-gaze centered. If you think that addressing an opinion is addressing the whole entirety of a person then I don't know what to tell you. I don't know that person, I see something on the internet and I address it like we all can do to something that was posted publicly.
And of course you can't have a conversation like an adult so you send me an anonymous message to tell me, someone you don't know, that I don't read. You know nothing about me. It would be even funny if it weren't fucking sad.
I donāt know if Iām remembering this correctly or just hallucinating, so feel free to correct me and enlighten me š BUT I remember feeling kind of weirded out by the way Shaneās reactions to Ilya were written in the books. Like, there are moments where Ilya kisses him and it āmakes his toes curlā and stuff like that, which is the kind of physical reaction romance writers traditionally use for female characters. Nothing wrong with it in itself, but then why wasnāt Ilya written the same way? š It just felt uneven to me, and honestly kind of reinforces how bottoms in MM romance are often subtly feminised through the narration.
And that, in my opinion, is a problem.
OP is saying they don't want gendered sports at all.
Not having gendered sports is in my opinion just dismissive of the women's experience, existence and value. Everyone can have their opinion, but we're not at a point in history to believe that being a woman doesn't inherently mean anything, because it still does. Saying that you don't want gendered sports can be nice in theory, but then the real thing would be putting women against men in sports designed for men and for their average biology, and this would mean inequity. Then it would be putting women around men in every place and situation. It would mean erasing women's sports before they're even given their dignity and importance.
i donāt feel like debating that topic much farther bc truthfully if it comes down to āwomen will lose to men in every sport bc they donāt have as much testosterone!!!!!ā my elite feminist response is honest to god āok we will lose with honor as equals instead of having our own special Easy Mode Female category so we can win amongst ourselvesā like iām sorry i just canāt be persuaded. iām a brick wall. i want co-ed sports
i bring a sort of āwomen can lose at some sports against men if it means being regarded as equalsā vibe to the debate that ātestosterone objectively increases performanceā people donāt really like
This must be raige bait, but it's such a male-gaze vision of women's sports. You care so much about men's opinion that your take is not to give dignity and importance to women's sports, but to make women compete in sports designed for men (like every other fucking thing in society is, from the structure to the work day to the fucking air conditioning temperature in public places) and what? Work harder to beat them? Work harder to be at their level? I don't want women to work harder to prove something to men, it's all we've always done, I want women to compete in sports made for them, with fields and nets and everything else made for their height, weight, body structure etc. The idea that saying that a woman is on average is shorter than a man, or slower, is derogatory or humiliating, is mysoginistic in itself because there's nothing wrong in being slower than someone else, for example, it's only wrong if you think that the ideal person is a fucking man. Equity and equality are two very different things and the only way to be strong and independent is equity. You're not rebellious if you put averagely shorter women in front of averagely taller men, with a net that's at their level, and push women to do something more. It's such a mysoginistic take. The only way you can prove yourself worthy, is to compete with men. Fuck no.
People need to get back to school and learn how to fucking have critical thinking because so many people are completely unable to discuss normally with someone who has a different opinion than them.

Infantilising bottoms, Asian men etc, is an issue, but I beg you...think about what infantilization really means. Because I often see posts/fics writing Shane as sad or vulnerable about something, and people saying that's infantilization. I mostly see this in this context, and yes, sometimes it's exaggerated, but it could also be because many authors are very young or simply not great writers...writing fics is a hobby.
Adults can act like kids sometimes, and they can also be sad/vulnerable/sweet, without it being an issue. And I never see someone pointing out this issue when the emotion portrayed exaggeratedly is, for example, anger, or frustration, typically "masculine" behaviours. I never see anyone having a problem with fics that make Shane have violent fights on the ice, acting insanely jealous, being excessively aggressive etc, and while it can be because he's an hockey player and a jock, it's also true that it doesn't automatically mean that he won't enjoy being babied or that he won't be excessively sad and vulnerable with his boyfriend. An hockey player/jock is not only that, people have so many different sides. And if the only behaviour you see as infantilising is typically associated with women behaviour, then I think we have another problem.
I want to write a fic about Shane and Ilya meeting child Ilya and taking care of him but the writer block is doing its job.
š« Does this fic already exist?
