I have a question. What do you call these three things? They have different names depending on where you live, and I’m curious.

MY CURRENT WORK IN PROGRESS (Check it out, it’s pretty cool. At least I think it is.)
NALU one-shot: “Train Station.”
Natsu’s been on a long mission and Lucy’s grateful that he’s home.
Lucy is a tightly wound package of overeager nerves and a disconcerting combination of this is happening this is happening this is happening that has somehow managed to cram inside her body. It almost feels as if she’d burst at the seams but her current plight was kept hidden from the bustle and hustle of Magnolia train station, displayed as a woman with nervous, hoping eyes and a foot that’s determined to keep tapping against the ground.
It’s actually quite a feat, being so outwardly in control, since Lucy is three seconds away from pacing around her bench just to have something to do. She rests her hands in her lap instead, clutching each other tightly as she focused on any hint of an alarmingly loud train whistle headed her way.
And when it does whistle, she’s not sure if it’s her heart in her throat or just a lump of the oncoming tears stinging the back of her eyes.

Because people aren’t perfect. People make mistakes. Sometimes they react first and think later. Sometimes circumstances are less than ideal, but good things come from it anyway.

random scene I wrote a few days ago
“Lucy,” Natsu murmurs slowly, uncharacteristically quiet as he shifts over to her, movements tightly controlled. “Don’t move.”
Lucy only nods, a slight turn of heard barely noticeable by (hopefully) nobody but her partner. The swamp water is thick around her thighs, oozing a putrid smell that has her eyes watering – she doesn’t know how Natsu is faring with his sensitive nose, but it’s likely not good.
Lucy can tell he’s somewhere on her left but she’d be a fool to turn her head to see the reassuring form of her partner. Horologium’s time limit had run out and she’d been left splashing into filthy swamp water, unbeknownst to the two mages that the guardian of said swamp water did not appreciate the disturbance.
It was a monster they’d never encountered before. It was fairly large, oozing thick, black sludge with air pockets bubbling up to its skin’s surface and releasing toxic air when popped. Lucy could discern two, yellow pinpricks of what she believed to be eyes shifting on the base of its stomach.
Lucy withheld a wince as a particular large air pocket burst, sending tendrils of green fumes tinged with dark purple into the air a little too close for comfort. She’s barely breathing, partly from the poison the monster’s releasing, partly due to the attention that’s pined on her.
It’s slimy limbs are twitching atop the water’s surface, edging closer to her every time she so much as moved a single muscle. It seems to be ignoring Natsu, who’s managed to sneak up behind her, pressing his chest against her back as he places his warm hands on her hips protectively. “I think it’s blind.” Natsu rasps low in her ear, fingers tightening as the monster jerked slightly in their direction.
“I’m gonna burn it.”
Lucy’s eyes widened as she flinched at his words but she’s unable to express why he shouldn’t do that. The gas it excretes could likely be flammable and that would not end well. Lucy muffles a frantic “no” behind her closed lips, shaking her head as discreetly as she can but –
Natsu, of course, does it anyway.
NALU one-shot: “Mastering the Pig-Tails”
Natsu’s determined to be the best dad and to beat out his competition, he must train his skills with Lucy’s hair!
Natsu knows he’s wearing her down.
The way she’s hiding a smile – hah, like her tiny hand can hide Lucy’s smile from him, Natsu knows the sign of one even before it appears – and pretending to be annoyed (he’s pretty sure she’s pretending) are trustworthy tells that Lucy is softening up to him.
“Natsu,” his wife sighs at him, exasperated with a tinge of fondness that makes his heart soar. “You’re being silly.”
“Nah, Luce.” Natsu grins, moving forward to gently place the palms of his hands against the swell of Lucy’s stomach, warming up the skin with his fingers. She’s gotten so big – something Lucy laments almost every day – but Natsu can’t get enough of it.

like the sun
Lucy wiped her hand over the glass frame and when she pulled away, her fingers were coated in thick dust. The photo frame was old and dirty, having not being touched in a very long time.
Her hands trembled slightly as she held onto the intricate, detailed wood, eyes glued to the photo contained safely behind the glass. It was a memory of older, much happier times where her father still had warmth in his eyes and her mother wasn’t so pale with sickness. She was there, too, a little child who smiled too bright and loved everyone more than her heart could hold.
Some things have changed, Lucy thinks as she glances back to the man behind her. But not all.
Natsu crosses his arms, a reassuring presence that keeps her from falling to deep into ancient memories she’s long since moved passed from. Lucy draws her attention back to the photo, sighing deeply. “He looked at her like she was the sun, you know.”
Natsu remains quiet, letting her slip into the memory but keeps her anchored, setting a warm hand on her shoulder.
“When she passed, it felt like the sky had been robbed.” Lucy gently sets the photo frame down, hands falling in her lap. “She had been like my sun, too.”
Lucy sucks in a shuddering breath and rises to her feet, dusting off her knees and turning to face her partner. Natsu regards her with a softness that she’s only just gotten used to, before clearing his throat.
“I bet you were her sun as well.” Natsu brushes away the tear Lucy hadn’t realised had fallen. “I know you’re mine.”
Her eyes water but she can’t stop them and doesn’t want to. “Thank you,” she chokes down a sob, not sure what she’s thanking him for – just that he needs to hear it. Natsu grins at her, toothy and wide and so Natsu, holding out his hand for her.
“C’mon. Let’s go home, Lucy.”
rent or an exorcism
inspired by this for @lovelyluce
Lucy waved the lighter enticingly towards the edge of the bed, crouched down on her knees, cheek hovering over the floor. “Come out, demon demon.”
“I’m not a child,” hissed a voice from in the darkness underneath her bed, sulky and petulant.
“You sure as hell are acting like one, Natsu.” Lucy flicked the lighter off, leaning back to sit on her heels. “If you keep hiding under there, I’m going to drag you out.”
“Luuuucy.” The demon whined, the whites of his eyes blinking owlishly at her. “Go away.”
She scoffed loudly. “This is my bedroom. Now stop being such a little devil and get out from under my bed!”
“No.”
Lucy closed her eyes, breathing through her nose sharply. “Natsu, you’ve eaten me out of house and home. Do you know how expensive you are as a tenant? And I didn’t even give you permission to live here!”
Natsu remained silent, shifting under the bed, his barbed tail scratching against the wooden floorboards with a wince-inducing screech. Lucy really hoped he hadn’t damaged her floor otherwise there’d be hell to pay. Literally.
“You need to start paying rent or I’m calling the priest.”
There was a loud, betrayed gasp followed by a thud of what Lucy assumed was Natsu’s horns against her bed frame, as he stuck his head out from his hiding place. “How could you, Lucy?”
Lucy scowled down at the demon’s face, eyes narrowed on his scaly features. “Better start paying up or I will exorcise you.”
just a soft nalu moment
The pressure on his chest confuses Natsu as he wakes until his eyes blearily open, the sight of golden hair greeting him. Natsu’s fingers curl into grooves of soft skin and curves, arms around Lucy, who sighs a little in her sleep and presses closer. The two of them had always been physically close - it came with the trade - and skin was just that, skin.
This type of comfort was something he’d never had. Never wanted to, didn’t mind not having. He’d been sprawled across Gray, dead asleep and snoring, bunked with Erza on jobs, and practically everyone in Fairy Tail - but with Lucy, it was different. Comforting in the way their legs tangled under the covers, the feel of her breathing against him lulling him into security, her skin pressed against his.
“Natsu…?” Lucy mumbles, in the midst of stirring. Her eyes flutter open, a yawn bubbling to her lips.
He runs his fingers through her hair, the other hand clutched at her waist protectively. “Mornin’ Luce. You’ve got drool on your chin.”
“Wha - Natsu! I don’t drool!”
Hi everyone! This blog is pretty dead inactive, & I’m more active over on my sideblog. I’m not a fan of having this blog be my main since it’s dead.
So... I’m switching urls! This blog will change content, while the current sideblog will be my fanfic blog in the event I try to resurrect my fics from their forgotten ashes. I won’t be deleting any fics here but from this point on, any fic related content I write will be posted on the sideblog (which will share the shame URL as current once I change it)
