Some traditional work from yesterday. Felt inspired by getting new ink for my dip pen, pictured bottom right. It’s a Tachikawa set which I highly recommend if you want to get into dip pens.

In my comic, I want to really capture the passing moments shared with drunk strangers. The people you trade cigarettes, have a good conversation, and exchange instagrams with in the alley behind the bar. As important as those moments feel, the next day you realize you’re not friends with that person until you’re both drunk again. The two girls in the first drawing are inspired by my memory of those people as well as general bar culture in my city. In a way I want them to only ‘exist’ in this setting to the main character. They appear more through the ‘male’ gaze but I would like to explore the difference in their characters outside of this setting too.

I’m debating on their names, I sort of want them to go well together. The girl on the left is loosely inspired by Winry Rockbell and Misa Amane. Perhaps Kim Wexler. On the right I’d say Tifa Lockhart type (badass asfuuuck.) I’m dreaming up a brunette next. Bless my girl drawing life
