I think that we should start an urban legend for nipless top surgery folks. Something like "If you purple nurple someone hard enough they actually turn purple and fall off". So that someday a kid will see me at the beach or something and I can be like "It Could Happen To You"

Surviving the metaphorical bear attack remains true to the bear metaphor: you must find a way to heal regardless.

And in my experience, whether something is "real" or not is far less important than whether it felt real to you.

Don't concern yourself with objective truths or the universe yet. You've just survived a bear encounter. How you process that experience, how you learn from it, how you enable yourself to feel safe again and plan for a future where you know how to protect yourself without develop a fear of bears that drives you into a panic room complete with a locked door at the expense of actually living is a far more rewarding goal.
