Warning and priority target indications flashed on the cylonâs Heads-Up display at the sight of the infamous Viper Pilot. Starbuck. Kara Thrace. The two model had been, particularly curious about this human. Obsessed.
The cylon wanted to know why. It ignored and rerouted itsâ termination commands.
âKara Thrace,â it said.
Her body froze momentarily, instinct flaring up as her fingers trembled against her side-arm. Â Yet, the Centurion before had not acted upon typical methods, though her knuckles turned white against the grip of her pistol.Â
"Oh frak me, you know my name..." There was grit in her voice, jaw quivering just lightly but eyes stern as she looked upon her own reflection marred in the hard body machine.Â
ooc: grab your gun and bring the cat in.

Um, yeah. A VI. Well maybe she can help along the way. -He grins- I believe you, maâam. Stay close though. Wouldnât want you to get lost on my watch.
I'm not exactly a fan of VI's or anything of the sort... [She gives him an odd look before shaking it off]. Oh, trust me, I'll stay real close as long as you're around.Â
Alliance wasnât keen about the Geth hanging around either. Quarians even less. But as soon as we brokered peace there, the Geth practically leapt at the chance to help us fight the Reapers. When some of those really big ones showed up to helpâŚshook some people up, thatâs for sure. When something that used to shoot rockets are your face suddenly walks up to you and asks what it can do to help you build the big bad weapon of mass destruction youâre working onâŚ. Hell, I wouldnât have believed it if I hadnât seen them welcoming peace with my own two eyes.Â
As for what happened to themâŚ. **He frowns again, forehead creased in thought.** IâmâŚnot entirely sure. I donât know if anyone really knows, to be honest. It was likeâŚ. We activated this huge machine, and it sent out thisâŚwhat do you call itâŚlike an EMP blast? And they all justâŚshut down. And there was no getting them back online. Theyâre all gone.Â
**He raises a brow in disbelief as the woman talks about the Cylonsâ belief in God.** Do they mean GOD, God? Like, the Earth God? Or do they have their own god? How did theyâŚI meanâŚ. Is that something programmed in? The Geth thought of the Reapers as gods because they were this ancient, powerful technology.Â
Humanoid models? LikeâŚthey look like humans? With skin and blood and shit? **He shudders** Iâve never seen anything like that. Closest was a robot with a skin overlay. âŚ. Wait, Leoben? **He frowns and scratches his chin.** I swear Iâve heard that name beforeâŚ. Sandy blonde, kind of lankyâŚ.Â
Interesting. We have a frakkin' Cylon Civil War on our hands, we aren't fighting anybody we haven't before - just with... new allies, I guess. I can understand the hesitation in allying yourself with things that were just trying to cauterize your ass. But at least they helped, you know.Â
EMP? That probably knocked out most of your tech in the process too if it took out your "Geth" or whatever. Kinda frakked if you ask me, helping out only to die. But at least it was for a good cause.Â
I suppose "God" or whatever. My people worship the Lords of Kobol and the Gods - you know like, Hera, Athena, Apollo... [Her mouth sets in a line as she notices that most people no longer keep the supposed Old Way; her religion being overcome by Gaius Baltar and the Cylons ramblings of a 'one true lord' and that she was.... well, another time] Â
It wasn't programmed in, not that I know of. The Humanoid models seem to understand the concept better than the machine-like ones - at least, they have cognitive thoughts. Probably due to their weird-ass "projection" abilities.Â
Yeah, they look just like you and me. But there are only 12 models. They bleed like us, they breathe like us, hell - they feel pain, supposedly. At least that's what they say - even capable of love. Only really seen that shown in Models 6 and 8.Â
[She rolls her eyes] Yeah, that's Leoben. The frakker isn't exactly lanky, but sunken eyes, a creepy smirk, and blonde hair... Won't leave me alone and can't shut up about me either.Â
A war worth fighting can be delayed with money. But no, itâs never bought. As for my egotism, itâs a necessary evil. With the cause that I have to carry on my shoulders, thereâs no time for humility. Given that you can sympathize, I donât imagine that youâre the humble sort either?
The delaying of war is just a frakkin' farce - everyone knows it's going to happen eventually, though no one ever wants to admit it.Â
"A necessary evil"? Ha. Yeah, let's just say I sympathize with your lack of modesty. There isn't much time for humility when you know you're the best damn thing between your race and the destruction of it.Â
A future. Yeah. Yeah, I guess we are. Isnât that something. Few months ago we were facing total galactic annihilation. Now weâre flying around going to parties or some shit. Political BS, but whatever. Itâs fun, and itâs not war.Â
Hell, I was surprised too. We were told the Geth hated organics, wanted us all dead, whatever. Turns out it was just the Reapers. And they had programmed some of them to want to kill usâŚI guess. Like I said, not my area. All I know is, one Geth came to us, said there were others like him, and he helped us. And eventually the Geth made peace with the Quarians. Hell, they were going to start helping them rebuild their home planet. Until all the Geth died, anyway. Ainât none of them left now. **He shrugs, his smile slipping again as he remembers a closer death that occurred for the same inexplicable reasons.**
War may be over butâŚwe lost a lot.
**He raises a brow.** They justâŚcame back out and started killing everyone? Hell, even the Geth had their fucked up reasons. Mostly just obeying the orders of their more powerful mechanical masters. But stillâŚat least we knew why they were attacking us. **He snorts in return as she mentions âdivine will.â**
Godâs will, eh? Let me tell you something. Those Geth? They thought the Reapers were some sort of gods, too. Is there something else behind your Cylons? Some all powerful mega-machine or some shit?Â
HmmâŚhow much free will did you guys give them? Do you know? Was it some sort of advanced AI? Did theyâŚlearn and shit? On their own? Start questioning their existence, thinking they should be treated the same as everyone else? Get pissed when you didnât?Â
I know that feeling, believe me. Even having a truce with these machines freaks me out but honestly, it's the only way right now... And some of them ain't half bad, for Toasters.Â
Yeah, the Cylons are talking about co-habitiation. Between you and me, the majority of out Fleet isn't exactly chomping at the bit for that option. They are already upgrading their ships technology into our own... It isn't going over so well with some of the Fleet loyalists.Â
What happened to your Geth that wiped them out? [Her head cocks the side as her brow furrows, honestly curious.]
Some of us in the Fleet have our theories about why the Cylons just came back, no one knows for sure and that's the real issue. I know already mentioned "their divine will and purpose" but the Cylons say that they are on a mission from "God", can you frakkin believe that? God! Of all the things in this frakked up universe, the Cylons have a religion now... Tch.Â
I don't think so, about the "mega-machine" at least. They have these weird... humanoid models crossed with machine, called Hybrids - one of the humanoid models, Leoben [ she sneers at the mention of his name leaving her lips], believes that the Hybrid speaks in prophecies.Â
Basically, from what I can tell - they were subservient at first, but they had the capabilities to learn and adapt, which is probably where they learned they wanted to be "equal" to humans. So, yeah, that's about the size of it. Now the humanoid models actually think they are human, well, not frakkin' completely but you get the concept of it.Â
Iâll try not to let it go to my head, Captain. [she smirks and takes Karaâs hand] Shae. Likewise.
A pleasure, Shae. [She rolls her shoulders after pulling her hand back, listening to the audible pop of her spine] So, this place is called Purgatory? A bit frakkin' religious, don't you think?Â
Money and guns are still what dictate the worldâs workings. When one fails, the other steps in to do the heavy lifting. This war canât be bought off, so the bigger the weapons, the better. [/to her careful observation, Shepard crossed his arms, taking in the compliments on the ship impassively] Youâre right, I donât need you to tell me that. But itâs not unwelcome.
Can any war worth fighting really be bought? [She already knows the answer to her question as her brow furrows, fingers slipping from the ships hull before looking at the man before her.] You don't pull the punches on your pride, do you? I like that. Good ship. Good ego.Â
callsignstarbuck started following you
Well Iâll be damned. I thought I would die before I saw another blonde around here.
And I thought I'd be damned before I saw a decent looking bartender. Captain Kara Thrace, nice to meet you. [Her mouth slants into a smirk before offering her hand lazily.]
**He smirks, and eyes her up and down approvingly.** WellâŚif youâre sure.Â
**A chuckle passes his lips and he shakes his head.** Yeah, yeah itâs fine. ItâsâŚitâs over for me anyway. Though itâs not for everyone. Iâm in the âletâs rebuild the shit that the fuckers destroyedâ stage. AndâŚyeah, basically. Well, take out of the old to make way for the new, they said. And yeah, they didnât ask anyoneâs fucking opinion on the matter. **He pauses for a moment, a thought crossing his mind.** Not anyone organic, anyway.
Well, the thing isâŚthe Quarians werenât really running. For most of those 300 years or so, the Geth justâŚstayed where they were and didnât bother anyone. Then they suddenly crawled out of their hole and started attacking again. No one knew why at the time, but now we know the ReapersâŚconvinced them.Â
Believe it or not, I DO believe you. Because it happened with us, too. It all started with this one Geth, Legion, who came out of nowhere wanting to help us. Because apparently the Reapers didnât convert all the Geth. **He scratches his beard, and itâs clear he doesnât really understand, even though he was right in the middle of it all.**Â
MachinesâŚ. Theyâre not really what youâd call myâŚarea of expertise.Â
[She casts him a knowing look, lips quirking in her typical grin] Oh, I'm sure, big boy.Â
Well, at least you're looking forward to a future, you know? Not a damn frakkin' thing can stop you by the sounds of it. [She shakes her head, eyes narrowing] I can't ever seeing machines agreeing to anything with organics... Shit surprises me still. But that's still something, you survived and got a life to live.Â
Yeah, well, the Cylons stayed past the Armstice line for 40 years - no 300, but still, one day they just bombared our cities like the war was still on. Hell, for them, probably was. Got no frakkin' clue as to why. Some of their models say it was "God's Divine Will". Frak God, I have enough that to deal with as it is... [She snorts, trying to ignore the nagging in the back of her skull that echoes with Leoben's voice]
Thing is, those Cylons - for them just to turn like that, to decide that humanity was worth saving, that some of us have a "special frakking destiny" to fulfill? Doesn't make any sense why they would change their minds...
You know, the Cylons were actually trying to Synthesize with humanity? Like Cylon on Human relations that could produce child... Frakkin' weird.Â
*He purses his lips, scrunches his nose and tries his hardest to think, to count all the beerâs he had to down and all the shots he missed.*
Like.. a lot.
[Her lips purse as she passes him another shot, wondering how long it'll be until he's sloppy and on the floor.]
Stay with me, I got a bit to catch up to your state.Â
Really? Youâve heard about us, hm? Itâs not often I find a human that doesnât know about us. So I suppose you may even be a rarer breed than us. -He smirks and allows his eyes to glimpse over her for a moment- Are we tall? Or are you humans just short?
I don't get off my ship much. [She sneers, jaw clicking as her eyes roam... whatever it is before her. It's not a Cylon, so there isn't a viable reason to shoot it... Yet. ]
Last I checked, only knowing that there at 50,000 surviving humans mark us as a pretty rare frakkin' breed. But I'm learning a whole bunch of shit today, like that number ain't exactly real.Â
Nah, you're tall. Look at you. Towering... Avian... Talon.... Looking thing.Â
More or less. Theyâre a military power, and always will be. But even they know better than to ignore a shift in the balance of power. As for your thoughts on the Normandy, youâve got the both of them right. Sheâs sleek, sexy, and can fight off damn near anything that comes its way.
Gotta give respect where it's due. Big guns and big ships make all the difference in a war, without them, you're pretty much frakked. Though this baby... [Her nose scrunches as her fingers touch a cold metallic wall, running along the trim line affectionately]... She's a marvel. You got a good ship, Commander. Don't need me to tell you that though.Â
