BUFFY IS LIFE. (And Giles, I love you endless amounts.....and yes, the whole cast. But Giles extra specially here. Incredible.)
30 Day Buffy Challenge-Day 7
Least Favourite Season-awww hell no.
Ok, so that pretty much sums up my reaction to the topic of today. Choose a least favourite season??? And I tried, I really tried. But I can't associate the phrase 'least favourite' with this show.. Every season has so many pluses that manage to outweigh any problems for me. I can easily see why Season 1 would be seen as the worst from a critical standpoint, but as a fan, you know what, watching it back, there's too much to love. Look, they're all happy! Hey, there's Darla! Willow is adorable! So today's answer is pretty void, seeing as...it's an impossible choice. (Least favourite episode, I will change my ways and put a genuine answer!!!)
Having your Sunday brightened by finding Coraline on TV-wishing I was half as sassy at that age
Today's reaction to the stack of work provided upon my return to school-Scully, you know it, girlfriend.
30 Day Buffy Challenge-Day 6
Favourite Friendship-Buffy/Willow/Xander
So whilst the show took all three of them to horrible places emotionally, and they were never as close as the early days, watching old Season 1/2/3 episodes and seeing them together remains the most adorable thing EVER. Period.
30 Day Buffy Challenge-Day 5
Favourite female character: Anya Christina Emmanuella Jenkins
SHE IS INCREDIBLE. Emma Caulfield has the best comic timing on the show, and yet when she does her speech in 'The Body', or in something like 'Hell's Bells' or 'Selfless', she's heartbreaking-I doff my cap to you, Miss Caulfield, you're a true legend.
Oh and she also does incredible things like this:
Or will simply announce the most insightful, philosophical things such as..
Today's mood whilst revising-joys of exams summed up by Charlize and Gary...
Oh, Lana, how I love you.
30 Day Buffy Challenge-Day 4
Favourite male character: Rupert Giles
This photo is honestly all that's needed as an explanation. 7 years of wisdom, elegent sarcasm and incredible father-figurey-ness...if that's a word. (well, except for the 2 years at the end with less appearances...but hey, this is Anthony Head. His presence is ALWAYS felt #MERLINFANS)
Oh, plus...how does someone with the nickname 'Ripper' NOT become an instant favourite? One of life's ultimate questions.
Today's mood ;')
30 Day Buffy Challenge-Day 3
Favourite romance: Willow/Oz
Willow/Tara fans, I'm sorry! I love those two together as well, but I think there's something about just how innocent and sweet these two were together that's really refreshing when you compare it to how dark and tragic all the relationships get in later series. I still think Willow works brilliantly with Tara, and ok, the Willow/Oz breakup was horrible, but back in the Season 2/3 days, I shipped these two hard.
Bonus points to:
Willow/Tara
Xander/Anya
Buffy/Spike (ok, so it began in the most horrible way, but by 'Chosen' I really did like their relationship)
AWWWWW, BUFFY LOVE. It never goes smoothly. Literally...NEVER.
“That’s someone who looks like you’re boyfriend.”
Doctor Who Series 7: The Crimson Horror
Doctor Who, you make Saturday evenings oh so special for us nerds :')
30 Day Buffy Challenge-Day 2
Favourite Episode: 'Once More With Feeling'
This is probably the favourite episode of a lot of people, and there's a reason for it-literally if I ever feel down, I can always count on this to cheer me up (well...until that ending. That is seriously upsetting. And Willow's face when they all find out *sobs*). The cast are all brilliant, and...oh, who am I trying to kid, this is the reason the episode is the best:
Ok, well maybe this too...
Or y'know, there is always this...
OH SCREW IT-the whole episode is perfect. Joss Whedon, how do you do it??? Ok, no more GIFS, I promise.
*Exceptions always made for Anya*
The Perks of Being a Wallflower
After seeing the film (I was drawn by the promise of post-Potter Emma Watson, POST-POTTER DEPRESSION) which I really enjoyed, I decided I'd read the book, a bit of a contrast from what I was reading at the time (OK, it was a Doctor Who book, I hold no guilt, they are epic reads...I want to do English at Uni, honest). But, to the point! I thought the film was one of the best I'd ever seen at really summing up that general sense of being a teenager. I mean, I love films like Easy A/Mean Girls, but in reality, high school is different (apologies to any Queen Bees who actually have been hit by a bus...or anyone that's sold fake sex for money in high school...awkward).
The book really was just as briliant, I found Chbosky's writing to be perfect at really getting into the character, and the fact that this is one of the only books he's had published makes it even more special. Being able to connect with a character is so important, and he nails it-it seems like everyone knows a Sam or Patrick! So I zoomed through this...and then had major withdrawal symptoms as a result...hence this post.
And this GIF. Because...well, why not?
sitting waiting by the phone for JGL to call me and propose, been here for a while. Me, a stalker? That's completely absurd.
THE 90's
So I'm not hating on any of the shows around right now, heck I watch as much Glee as any other gay with an eye for Darren Criss and an ear for Barbra (Lea Michele, please sing for me daily.) And I'm 17, so the 90s wasn't really my time...but the joy of Netflix/Lovefilm/DVD kind of helps get around that fact. So...the actual point of this. TV SHOWS IN THE 90S WERE FREAKING EPIC if you wanted bad-ass power females.
Exhibit 1:
Xena...the photo essentially says it all.
Exhibit 2:
Scully-showing us all that yes, science IS sexy.
Exhibit 3:
Buffy-running rings around Edward Cullen/generally TAKING NAMES.
SO COME ON 10'S, RAISE YOUR GAME.
