This is the first Salvador Dali painting I ever witnessed. It was in a small back corner, down a corridor that lead to Michelangelo’s fresco at the Sistine Chapel. As soon as I laid eyes on it, I knew what it was. When people ask me who influenced me to follow a path of art in my life there was Picasso, and then there was Dali. A week later I would visit a small art shop filled with Dali’s younger work on a street in Paris. Dali’s expansive dream like landscapes with equal oddities specifically placed with painted subconscious thoughts, caught me with excitement and passion as a high schooler in the early 2000s.
