@camp-confessions
sorry for not posting lately, I was taking care of some personal things but all confessions should be posted this week!
Do you only post confessions u agree with?
No, I do try to stay as unbiased as possible since this is mostly just a place for people to put their confessions or criticisms. So I’ll post stuff I don’t necessarily agree with or feel neutral on.
Anyone’s opinions are safe here though, so as long as they’re not hateful.
All camp Cretaceous seasons are great
the only good chaos theory season was the first but it was so so good it saves the show
.
Gia wasn't an obstacle but she did have offensively bad writing so I get why some people don't like her
Also a valid opinion.
I will agree that she didn’t feel like a very textured character. She was by no means bad, but I feel like her characterization was at times, flat. One could argue that it was because there was just no time, so a lot of the time she felt like a prop for Ben. Which is sad, because she’s an enjoyable character.
Again, I feel like the biggest issue with Chaos Theory was trying to cram in so many characters and plot lines that a lot of them got neglected and/or they seemed very tropey.
There’s absolutely nothing wrong with disliking Gia, but some of the critiques of her do veer into misogyny.
i hope it wasn’t weird to ask if you were poc, sorry!
No worries! I don’t mind at all.
On the point about yaz being overfeminized, Sammy is WAYYY too masculinized even though shes more feminine than yaz. She loves dresses, she loves flowers, she loves more typically feminine things.
Dont get me wrong, I love butch Sammy. But the reason other people hc her butch is because shes bigger and taller than yaz. Like holy fatphobia and misogyny
Yasammy can be butch4femme, but yall are appointing the wrong femme and butch.
Speak your truth, let us have girly but freakishly strong from farm work Sammy.
But I’m all seriousness, I agree. Just because she’s bigger it doesn’t automatically make her butch, if anything, Yaz fits more firmly into the role.
I am a huge benji shipper, but I hate how some other benji shippers treat Gia. They act like "she got in the way" when benji was never going to be canon, regardless of if Ben had a gf or not. It just kinda proves that no fandom is safe from the yaoi-obsessed fans who hate on the one woman character
Ngl misogyny is a HUGE issue in this fandom. I’m completely fine with both ships, but I find it weird to treat Gia like she was this godawful obstacle who prevented them from falling in love.
It’s so weird because the existence of Bengia doesn’t mean that Benji can’t be shipped. That’s the fun of fandom, literally doing whatever you want with the characters.
I like Brooklynn but she was a character that had potential but it was executed poorly. I wish she had depth beyond girlboss in Chaos Theory
To be fair, some of that was due to executive meddling, If I recall correctly, one of the storyboard artist (I think it was Heidi Neunhoffer?) said that they had to cut a lot of scenes out. Brooklynn cried a lot more, and had panic attacks from interacting with smaller dinosaurs in the original storyboards but were scrapped (I think the complaint was that she was crying too much).
I didn’t feel the slightest concern for Ben in season four of JWCT, I knew they wouldn’t dare kill off a main character and that erased any of my sympathy and worry for him. Why spend time worrying if he would just end up miraculously living anyway?
Honestly my main reason for me absolutely hating season four, it was SO underwhelming and stupidly overhyped imo.
That’s fair. It definitely lost a lot of traction once Santos was out of the picture for some reason. I feel like while the first three seasons had a definitive objection, the last season felt more like the characters just stumbling through a series of random events.
weird question are u white or poc?
POC.
Yasammy and Yazji shippers are both guilty of overfeminizing Yaz and it feels like a crime in both tags because Yaz herself isnt written to be feminine, shes written to be a strong female athlete, Kenji even calls her "macho woman" because she has so many traditionally "male athlete" tropes and its a fun take on a character that gets written out for fanservice.
Sadly, I feel like it’s partially the fault of the writing in JWCT. They erased a lot of Yaz’s core traits, like her athleticism and sarcasm.
Mr. Rightosaurus is a much better name for Bumpy's mate. "Blender" is a stupid name.
It really is. Like…they could have gone with anything but they chose blender.
My headcanon is the characters all live happily ever after together in the little cabin as one big happy found family. The most drama they get up to is who is gonna pay for takeout later.
.
Ben being stabbed by the thagomizer in s4 didn't make sense and felt like he was taking up even more screentime he didn't need
Honestly, I do feel like the writing on the entire fourth season was a choice. Too many plot points without much time to resolve them.
Darius got sidelined in his own damn show and it makes me sad bc he’s my fave
Same. He was such a driving force of the first series and I do feel like he lacked the same impact on the plot. Sadly, I feel like his feelings for Brooklynn were his entire driving conflict for the whole show and even then, he wasn’t given the same complex writing as some of the other characters.
People saying that blonde white kenji would be better feels kind of racist...
.
brook fumbled kenj big time man
