Yasammy and Yazji shippers are both guilty of overfeminizing Yaz and it feels like a crime in both tags because Yaz herself isnt written to be feminine, shes written to be a strong female athlete, Kenji even calls her "macho woman" because she has so many traditionally "male athlete" tropes and its a fun take on a character that gets written out for fanservice.

Sadly, I feel like it’s partially the fault of the writing in JWCT. They erased a lot of Yaz’s core traits, like her athleticism and sarcasm.

In my experience, the jwcc/ct fandom is Pinterest is more toxic than the one on tumblr, and one of the main differences I’ve seen in the pairing that people have.

here, I’ve seen more people ship the gyrosphere pairings (Dinostar, Benji, and Yasammy)

on Pinterest, however, I see a lot more people ship Kenlynn, Benrius, and Yasammy. I also see A LOT more yazji over there.

The main discourse I’ve seen is definitely between Benrius and Benji shippers. Ive been a Benrius shipper all my life and just recently started getting more into Benji, but I feel like everytime I open the comments for anything Benji related on Pinterest, it’s just people saying “Benrius is better.” Anyways, ship whatever you want, I just thought it was interesting how much the same community can vary across multiple platforms

Not to insult someone ship but like, the amount of Yazji shippers who over-feminine Yaz is really disturbing. Like shes turned into a different more hyper-feminine character and it really just... defeats the purpose of shipping them at all.

She's the bull-headed, stubborn athlete that doesn't back down, the "macho woman" as Kenji has called her, shes not flowery dresses and makeup, and overly girly nonsense.

If your gonna ship Yazji, admit that Yaz is the boyfriend in that relationship.

I know i know, rules on an “anything goes” confession blog? Lame, right? No. Unfortunately, it has to happen, cuz some people suck.

The series has pretty great sapphic rep with Yasammy and our fanbase has a large component of queer people. This is not an anti or pro yasammy blog, but i’ve found that when given room, people are quick to get lesbophobic. Thats not OK.

Ship criticism is allowed but must be phrased respectfully. Homophobia, transphobia, or queerphobia of any sort WILL NOT be tolerated! Same with racism. The cast of our series is very diverse as is the fanbase, so that should be respected.

If you wanna get on the Cool Kids Kayak, don’t be a bigot! Pretty easy requirement honestly.

Brooklyn glanced at him again, and for a moment, their eyes met in the starlit darkness. The night felt still just the two of them beneath the vast universe.

Silence fell between them again, but this time, it wasn’t awkward. It was comfortable. They had spent so much time arguing and misunderstanding each other, yet here they were, side by side, breathing the same cool night air.

Brooklyn shifted slightly, resting on her side, propped up on her elbow. Her loose braid had started to unravel, a few strands framing her face. In the faint glow of the stars, she looked…majestic.

Darius swallowed hard, feeling his pulse quicken. His mind was running in circles, but before he could stop himself, the words slipped out—

“…Can I kiss you?”

The second he said it, his entire body froze.

Oh my God. No. No, no, no, no, no.

His eyes went wide in horror. He hadn’t meant to say that out loud. It was just a thought. A dumb, fleeting thought that somehow bypassed every filter in his brain and escaped his mouth.

His heart pounded as he waited for Brooklyn’s reaction.
