here is the albino earthworm I found today! it does not look like much at first glance, because there are many earthworms that are normally unpigmented and look much like this one.

but take a closer look at the head and you’ll see that the prostomium—the little lobe that comes off the first segment—is tanylobous, having creases until segment 2. that means it’s genus Lumbricus, which are all usually a dark reddish color!

here is the albino meeting another juvenile, a Lumbricus terrestris. I’m unsure if the albino is L. terrestris or rubellus, and will need to wait for it to grow up to be able to tell.

no matter what it is, it’s a privilege to see and raise this little oddity, I will keep you all updated on its progress!

Once you start thinking about humans as a species in a biome, it affects your entire way of looking at normal things.

The other day I referred to female morning joggers as an 'indicator species' in that if you see women jogging in the dark it means that the environment provides migration pathways (sidewalks, clear signs) and doesn't have any known predators of female morning joggers (guy with knife, bear, BigTruck, male morning joggers).

Though, I think that people consider framing humans as animals reacting to their environment as rude.

my personal pick for most underrated animal is the european legless lizard, which i think is often taken to just look like a normal and rather plain snake, but if you're familiar with reptile anatomy at all it looks more like some sort of bizarre heraldic fantasy creature than basically anything else on earth

something I've noticed in my stripe research.., almost any thylacine of any gender will have a weird stripe at the very base of the tail. I've seen very few specimens without a blotch stripe on their tail.

B. Click on the green rectangle in the upper right corner ("SUBMIT A PUBLIC COMMENT") .

C. Fill in your comment, and info at the bottom, and SUBMIT COMMENT.

The comment period ends March 27, not March 30!!!

I strongly suggest (in your own words) couching your dissent in Trump's (and followers') own rhetoric. Here's what I said:

Removing these regulations will make America sick again, cause neurological and intellectual impairment in children (due to less regulation of lead), and raise the level of preventable cancers in adults (due to less regulation of known carcinogens),thus reducing American productivity and greatness.

Why the hell would you rescind a national policy meant “to use all practicable means and measures, including financial and technical assistance, in a manner calculated to foster and promote the general welfare, to create and maintain conditions under which man and nature can exist in productive harmony, and [to] fulfill the social, economic, and other requirements of present and future generations of Americans.”

Rescinding these policies is a TERRIBLE IDEA, and will only lead to increased pollution, environmental damage, and damage to people's health. It will make us weaker, poorer, and sicker as a nation. Please keep the National Environmental Policy Act in place.
