tumblr’s relationship with nazism and communism
i’ve seen a lot of posts in the past few days about people punching nazis and people arguing if that’s okay and i’ve got to say that i find it very interesting how almost everyone on tumblr has no problem to say that nazism is a completely fucked up ideology and that it’s gross and dangerous. but on the other hand people here often act like communism or socialism are some kind of awesome utopia. and it really makes me wonder why that is because both of those ideologies are absolutely awful and wrong.
i’m czech and my country experienced both nazism and communism. my great grandfather was in a concentration camp. when he came back home after the war he helped to rebuild Lidice, a village who got literally whiped off the earth by nazis. men got shot, women and children were taken in camps where most of the children were lately gassed and the village got completely destroyed. tens of thousands of czechoslovak people died during the war, millions suffered under the regime.
and then less than three years later after the war there was a communist coup and czechoslovaks had to live in that regime for the next 41 years.
and let me tell you about communism. everyone has the same. that’s great right? no.
what it actually means is that everyone has barely anything with the exception of the people in the communist party.
it means that people whose famillies worked dozens of years on their fields and farms have them taken away, they are discriminated against by the regime, forced to do the worst labour work and their children can’t go to college.
it means your neighbor, your coworker or even your own family member telling the police on you if you do something the regime disapproves of.
it means being persecuted for your political beliefs.
it means creating fake charges against people and torturing them for so long until they confess.
it means brainwashing the citizens until they approve of such opression. it means brainwashing them to the point that they celebrate that innocent people are being murdered.
it means making things that aren’t needed just because the country needs to stick to the production plan and then having to go without something so simple as a toilet paper because the plan didn’t think of that.
it means persecution of intellectuals and elites and giving power “to the people”.
it means fear, uncertainty and resraint.
just look and venezuela. a country with one of the highest amount of petroleum in the world. it should be impossible to economically ruin such country and yet look at where they are now.
communism and socialism are just as bad as nazism and fascism. and i think it’s time for people on tumblr to realize that.
