I have Friday off to celebrate our country’s birthday so in honor of this specials milestone in history please give me a prompt that would make our founding fathers blush
Oh god… ummm…
It’s the morning after Sirius’s twentieth birthday when he wakes up naked and squeezed between James and Lily in their bed. The memories of the night before are blurry… And several weeks later, Lily finds out she’s pregnant.
Sirius loved holidays. Birthdays. Any excuse to celebrate.
Give him a reason to gather people together and he'd happily provide the noise, the alcohol, and enough enthusiasm for everyone in the room. He loved making the people he cared about feel important. Loved reminding them how much they meant to him.
What Sirius had never been particularly good at was celebrating himself.
So when Lily and James asked what he wanted to do for his twentieth birthday, he merely shrugged.
"A quiet night in is fine."
"That's it?" James frowned.
"That's it."
"I suppose I'll make you a cake anyway," Lily said.
Sirius grinned. "I'd be disappointed if you didn't."
The truth was, he knew baking for people made Lily happy. Even on his own birthday, his first instinct was to think about what everyone else wanted.
It simply never occurred to him that he might deserve to want something too.
Lily and James were, quite simply, the best people Sirius had ever known.
Loyal. Brilliant. Ridiculously kind.
Marriage hadn't changed that.
If anything, it had only made him feel more certain that he'd somehow stumbled into the greatest friendship imaginable. They had never once made him feel like a third wheel or an obligation. There had never been a moment where he'd thought, I'm intruding.
He belonged.
He loved watching them together.
The quiet conversations spoken with only a glance. The effortless way James reached for Lily's hand without thinking. The way Lily instinctively leaned into James whenever they sat beside each other. They fit together with the sort of ease that made the rest of the world feel slightly out of focus.
Sirius wasn't jealous.
Not exactly.
He simply found himself wondering, sometimes, what it might feel like to be wrapped up in something so complete.
It was the sort of thought he never intended to say aloud.
Perhaps it was the firewhisky.
Perhaps it was the warmth of the sitting room, Lily curled against his side on the sofa while James sprawled in the armchair opposite.
Or perhaps it was the way James asked, with complete sincerity, "So what do you actually want for your birthday?"
Lily's hand rested lightly between his shoulders, absentmindedly tracing lazy circles through the fabric of his shirt.
The whisky had left him pleasantly warm and far braver than usual.
Before common sense could intervene, Sirius smiled dreamily and answered,
"I'd like the two of you to take me upstairs."
Silence.
Then James laughed.
And no one said no.
Sirius woke late the following morning with a pounding headache and sunlight spilling through unfamiliar curtains.
It took him several long seconds to realize where he was.
James's arm was draped heavily across his chest.
Lily slept on his other side, her dark red hair spread across the pillow like spilled ink.
All three of them were tangled beneath the blankets.
Sirius stared at the ceiling.
Fragments drifted back to him.
Laughter.
Someone knocking over a lamp. James laughing so hard he could barely breathe. Lily kissing his forehead and calling him ridiculous.
Another round of firewhisky.
Laughter that refused to end. Warm hands and warmer mouths. James's lips and tongue leaving him gasping out, "Merlin," while Lily's deft touch around his length drew helpless sounds from him, her delighted laughter in his ear so bright and beautiful it might have belonged to a celestial choir.
Soft pillows.
Cool starlight spilling across bare skin.
James's grin.
Lily's smile
For perhaps the first time in his life, Sirius couldn't remember feeling lonely.
He had absolutely no idea what they were supposed to do now.
As it turned out...
Something rather unexpected.
A few weeks later, Lily found Sirius alone in the kitchen.
"So," she said casually, "how would you feel about moving in with us?"
Sirius looked up from his tea.
"...What?"
"You spend most of your time here anyway."
"Bit unconventional, isn't it?" he said. "Married couple having a permanent roommate?"
Lily shrugged.
"I just thought it'd be easier."
"Easier?"
"You'll want to be involved when the baby arrives."
Sirius froze.
"...The baby?"
She looked at him.
"...James didn't tell you?"
"There is a baby?"
Lily smiled, one hand unconsciously settling over her stomach.
"I think so."
"S-since when?"
"If I've counted correctly..." she said thoughtfully, "...since your birthday."
Sirius opened his mouth.
Closed it.
Opened it again.
"...Since my birthday."
"Mmm."
He stared.
Lily's smile grew impossibly fond.
"So," she said, "it seems James, you, and I are having a baby."
Again I was in pinteret and found this. I added the names cause someday I’m drawing this (that day may be far away). But I need more with these three. What even is their ship name?
so much character and thematic potential has not been explored because people don’t understand the appeal of having a favorite character that you hate and want to smack against brick a lot
The song ”Merry christmas, please don’t call” suits Sirius and Severus in my mind so well. I don’t know is it just me but yeah. But I may just make all songs about them but thats not my fault, okay? And the playlist I have from them is not even yet 5h, it’s 4h 57mins.
So I have been thinking how would we get our beloved and slightly evil marauders to the Death Eaters side? I have an idea:
What if James’ parents were not against death eaters but lived by the old ways? Not as bad as Sirius parents but still. And lets be honest James was not that against rules and stereotypes. We don’t know much from his canon parents but I could guess they were very against Death Eaters and with that Slytherins (cause ✨stereotypes✨). So this may lead to why James was also against both of those. He did still hate on people for what they could not control as we see with Snape. So in this au, he was not against Death Eaters. I do still think he would have been a Gryffindor but he would have been better friends with Slytherins, still probably bullying Snape.
So first marauder down next to go and that shall be Sirius Black. The one who was most rebellious against the ideologies of Death Eaters. But then again was it Death Eaters or his family ideology he was against? Let's still play the game where James' parents were with Death Eaters and with them James. The two would have still met on the train and with that became friends like in canon. But now we don’t have Sirius' moral compass James Potter here but a grueler version of him. I think Sirius would still run from home to Potters and Potters would take him in. He would still openly hate his family but not Death Eaters because of James. And let's be honest Sirius would follow James anywhere. So two down two to go.
Next is Remus Lupin. So just to start, that boy doesn’t have the balls to say no to Sirius and James especially when they know his secret of being werewolf. Remus would still hate Greyback and the other marauders also but would. Still Remus would probably follow his friends to the other side. Even if he is a halfblood he does have strong pureblood friends so I think they would take him in. I do see in this au, Remus would be the most likely to switch sides if he gathered the courage for it.
Lastly Peter Pettigrew and again lets be honest he would follow his friends. He already in canon went over to the Death Eater because of fear but now with all of his friends being there? That boy is becoming a Death Eater fast.
So in the end let's be thankful for James parents cause they may have raised an asshole but not a Death Eaters cause all of his friends would have followed him to the other side like dogs. (Looking at Sirius especially).
Yeah, Order of Phoenix would have not done very well in this au. But Slytherins would have been less hated with the four Gryffindor tormentors bringing havoc. Also Severus would have maybe taken the other side cause he would probably still be bullied by marauders for idk exiting like James said? But this time his and Lily’s friendship would maybe not have been broken.
But these are just my thoughts. I would love to hear if any of these makes sense to anybody else. I was just thinking this at like 1am. Sorry for spelling errors also.

“Oh, you don’t want to do that.”
Andrea Bearegard, who was teaching Defense Against the Dark Arts for the first time in her young career, looked up to see Minerva McGonagall staring over her, eyes on her seating chart.
“Do what?” she asked curiously, leaning back in one of the chairs of the Teachers’ Lounge and regarding the older woman with confusion. She’d thought her chart was pretty good so far.
“Potter and Black. You don’t want them separated,” Minerva advised wisely, earning a grunt of agreement from both Filus Flitwick and Horace Slughorn, who were chatting nearby.
“Why on Earth not?” Andrea demanded, shocked. James Potter and Sirius Black were the biggest troublemakers in the school–seating them together would surely make that worse!
“Because if you do, their madness just spreads,” Minerva said with an exhausted huff.
“Once I put them across the room from each other, and they sent charmed paper airplanes back and forth for weeks. I couldn’t even have them read them in front of the class because the content was…very suggestive,” Filius piped up with a grimace.
“And if I partner them with other people in Potions, it doubles the chance of an explosion,” Horace added, chuckling good-naturedly.
“What about detention? Do they not–”
All three senior Professors laughed. “How many ways have they figured out how to communicate with each other in detention, now?” Filius asked, turning to Minerva.
“I think we’re up to eight. The betting pool is pretty high that they’ll be at ten by the end of the year,” she answered with a wry smile. “Trust me, detention for them is a punishment for you, too.”
“So, what, you just…” Andrea began, flummoxed.
“Put them together, in the back, and hope they’re too busy making heart eyes at each other to cause real chaos,” Horace said with an eyeroll.
“But do not hint that they actually have feelings for each other. Neither of them have figured that one out yet, and when they do?” Filius squeaked, face now full of horror. “It’ll be horrible. I fear they’ll be insufferable.”
“I’ll be retiring then,” Minerva added, shivering with fear.
“There’s a betting pool about that, too. If you’re interested,” Horace suggested, grinning at Andrea.
She furrowed her brow, wondering if teachers were always like this. “No, thanks,” she mumbled, looking back to her seating chart.
Still, she decided to put Potter and Black together. Just in case.
When Sirius develops Hanahaki, James practically burns down the castle trying to figure out who he is in love with so he can save his favourite person. Completely oblivious to the fact that the only person Sirius Black has ever loved is him.
One thing I find totally plausible with Snirius is a scenario where Severus is basically tearing Sirius apart, saying he’s a terrible person and should just drop dead, in front of someone who knew the Black family well and that person casually goes, “sometimes when he criticises you, he sound just like your mother.”
And Sirius just freezes, because suddenly it hits him like a truck and he’s never beating the mummy issues allegations, even if he’s dating a man lmao
