Kohl’s is getting lots of attention for its new holiday commercial, featuring a gay couple. Props to Kohl’s for the inclusive ad but I think folks are missing the bigger headline.

You said guests were welcome so I brought these puppies. Cool, right?

Her outside voice: “Welcome! Merry Christmas!” Inside voice: “I’ve got 40 people coming for dinner and you seriously are bringing puppies in here.”
Can anyone guess why this poor child is mopping on Christmas Eve? I think I have an idea..

This was our Christmas Eve last year. We celebrated with two other couples – our friends Mike & Vikki, on the far right, and Will & Kerby, in the center – and our friend Lynn-Anne, in between my husband Charlie and me. Alas, no one brought puppies.
