Like the Whole Point of that character is racism. He’s a representation of racism. A representation of white privilege. He’s very much like that On Purpose. He hacks into Sam’s equipment. He belittles Sam by reducing him to Steve’s “sidekick”. He’s happy to work with Sam!—as long as Sam does everything he says.

Also he treats the other Black people in his life like shit. He ignores Lemar’s concerns. He gets Lemar killed. He neglects his kid, leaves all the caretaking to his wife, and treats them both shittily enough that she leaves him. Having Black people in one’s life does not make them not racist!!!

I’m sorry but your interpretation of the character is NOT supported by the text. At All.

having some fun little thoughts about sam putting together some different kinds of homemade suet to woo the neighbourhood birds. maybe this is something he started as a kid, after reading about it in a big book on birds he checked out from the library one time, and it followed him into adulthood. maybe, for mcu sam, it’s something that brings him routine and comfort after losing riley and coming back stateside, trying to adjust to life again. maybe, in a world where sam has his bird powers—616 or an au or anything—it helps deepen his bond with redwing, and while all the birds generally are fond of him, it curries favour like nothing else, and they get all excited about sam wilson’s special seed bar on his balcony.

The release of the Doomsday trailer reiterating, yet again, that this fandom, especially a lot of people claiming to be Sam Wilson’s fans, do not give one single solitary damn about the character outside of his connection to Bucky.

For months, I’ve repeatedly talked about how as long as Sam stands next to Bucky in the movie, y’all won’t care what happens with the character, or how the Avengers name sl is resolved, or if he continues to be sidelined and disrespected by other characters (and fans), and it didn’t take 15 minutes after the trailer dropped to prove I was right. Smh… a blind man could’ve seen it coming.

To underline your point: Sam spends all of tfatws thinking about how to solve everyone's problems. Meanwhile Bucky literally thinks about things SO LITTLE that he gets arrested for missing court mandated therapy. But I mean, yeah, we all know why the negative trait is ascribed to Sam here.

Firstly, Blasians (mixed Black-Asians) don't get this much hype for being mixed and we all know why 🤡

Secondly, media and the public almost always put on a pedestal a very specific type of mixed Wasians, those of East Asian descent. I don't see as much hype for the Wasians of South Asian, Southeast Asian or West Asian descent. And of course, we all know why 🤡

Like I thought we had this discourse back in the early 2010s criticising how Asian representation in YA fiction tended to be Wasians?

Heavy on “if they wanted to do it, we would’ve done it,” because we all know that’s 100% true. They could’ve been made that movie if it was truly a priority.

Just like Yahya’s instagram post from yesterday, I’m really glad Mahershala is keeping it a buck too. Frankly, I wish that all of the actors and actresses who have been dissed and/or flat out dismissed by the MCU would start speaking plainly about it. The MCU has really dropped the ball and been blatantly disrespectful to their Black characters and other characters of color, as well as their female characters in general, and it needs to be addressed.
