A mini-review of SU’s “Change Your Mind”.
To put it briefly, this episode was truly one of the more epic episodes of the series by far and I honestly liked it. It premiered on Monday night, and for me, it proved to be a nice little birthday present. But I couldn’t help but have one issue with this special: Steven still used talking to solve his issues with the diamonds. For years, most of us had been wanting for Steven to fight the diamonds in order to defeat them rather than just talk to them. But, he ended up talking them into changing their ways, anyway.
I’ll give it this, though. There was way more fighting in this special than in any of the past battles Steven and the other gems had been in. We got to see a lot of satisfactory appearances including Lapis Lazuli and Peridot’s new design, Obsidian, Sunstone, Rainbow Quartz 2.0, and Smokey Quartz. Let’s not forget the debut of everyone’s new favorite meme, Pink Steven. Pink Steven and the part where he reunited with human Steven had to be one of my favorite parts of this episode besides the return of Bismuth and Peridot (I could honestly care less about Lapis). When he shouted “SHE GONE!” It had to be one of the most symbolic scenes. Aside from his gem taking the form of him, this is was a perfect confirmation for Steven that he is truly and always will be Steven.
Though, I would like to say more on what the were the best and lackluster parts about the episode, I have way too much homework to do. So, I’ll drop the rest of my thoughts on my blog when I get the chance.
