Pugs are not cute
Pugs are not cute. Pugs are malformed, inbred, sick animals that should never have existed.
(Above: pug and wolf skulls. Note the shallow eye sockets, crowded, protruding teeth, and short snout in the pug.)
Dogs pant to cool themselves. As pugs have practically no snouts, they have trouble cooling their bodies and they can suffer from organ failure as a result.
Pugs are often unable to breathe properly due to their short snouts and compact breathing passages. This inhibits their ability to do things that dogs like best - running, chasing things, playing.
Pugs suffer from a mangled jaw from which their teeth grow in all directions.
Because of the distorted shape of their skulls, their eyes commonly pop out of their heads. 60% of prolapsed eyes become blind. Eyes put back in the skull are prone to infection and the dog may need treatment for the rest of their life.
Their eyes are also prone to swelling painfully, becoming scratched, and being irritated by their eyelashes.
When excited, pugs are prone to getting fluid stuck in their throats, making them choke or gasp for breath. This is given the cutesy nick name “reverse sneezing”. [video]
As it can be difficult for pugs to exercise, they are prone to obesity.
Some pugs are born with their nostrils pinched almost shut, making it impossible for them to live without an operation.
The wrinkles on their faces will become infected without constant, careful cleaning by their caretaker.
About 64% of pugs suffer from hip dysplasia (malformed hip sockets) which causes crippling lameness and painful arthritis.
Pugs have a genetic weakness to demodectic mange (a pretty nasty skin condition caused by mites).
Their curled tail makes them susceptible to hemivertibrae - misshapen backbones which cause spine bending and instability, neurological disorders, back leg paralysis, incontinence, and pain.
Pugs are so inbred that a study of ten thousand pugs in the UK had the genetic makeup of only 50 individuals. Inbreeding means that defective genes are more likely to be expressed and passed on to offspring.
Necrotizing meningoencephalitis (brain swelling) is common among pugs. Dogs with this condition usually die within a few weeks.
I am so sick of seeing pugs being celebrated. Their small, squashed skulls, facial wrinkles, curled tails, and protruding eyes are actually valued when these characteristics are a cruelty in themselves.
Pugs are charming, sweet, funny little souls and they don’t deserve the bodies humanity has designed for them.
Stop celebrating pugs. Stop buying pugs.
let’s celebrate retro pugs instead
responsible breeders decided they liked the temperament but the health issues were a nightmare, so they fixed them, they bred them out
it’s retro as in before the muzzle was bred out
and look at them
the one on the left is a retromop and the one on the right is a (elderly) pug
they’re healthier, live longer and have all the pug benefits with none of the usual health issues because of the deformed skull
they have longer legs
making exercise easier, and yet maintained most of the pug looks, and yes, they have the pug grin
want a pug - get a retropug or retromop, a healther, happier, and possibly cheaper option
even though I love pugs, it’s important that people know this
Retromops are where it’s at friend. Keep 100% of the pug charm with 0%of the terrible unhealthy inbred deformity.
why is everyone sad

Dyscalculia is a learning disability, a lot like dyslexia, but with math and numbers. Everyone knows what dyslexia is, but for some reason, dyscalculia isn’t as well known. I want people to know about this so no more kids are gonna believe uneducated adults who tells them that they’re just lazy and no more kids are going to think they’re just hopeless idiots when they try and try but just can’t understand. It happened to me, and I won’t let it happen to anyone else.
It’s surprisingly common and is often linked to ADHD. If you’ve ever had issues, look it up - you might find things fall into place for you, too.
Difficulty reading analog clocks[14]
Inability to comprehend financial planning or budgeting, sometimes even at a basic level; for example, estimating the cost of the items in a shopping basket or balancing a checkbook.
Inconsistent results in addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Difficulty with multiplication, subtraction, addition, and division tables, mental arithmetic, etc.
Problems with differentiating between left and right.
A “warped” sense of spatial awareness, or an understanding of shapes, distance, or volume that seems more like guesswork than actual comprehension.
Difficulty with time, directions, recalling schedules, sequences of events. Difficulty keeping track of time. Frequently late or early.
Poor memory (retention & retrieval) of math concepts; may be able to perform math operations one day, but draw a blank the next. May be able to do book work but then fails tests.
Difficulty reading musical notation. Difficulty with choreographed dance steps.
Having particular difficulty mentally estimating the measurement of an object or distance (e.g., whether something is 3 or 6 meters (10 or 20 feet) away).
When writing, reading and recalling numbers, mistakes may occur in the areas such as: number additions, substitutions, transpositions, omissions, and reversals.
Inability to grasp and remember mathematical concepts, rules, formulae, and sequences.
Inability to concentrate on mentally intensive tasks.
I can’t even comprehend what it might be like being a human who doesn’t have all of these characteristics. I don’t know how a brain can possibly just “remember” how to do long division or know what ten feet looks like.
I can’t even accept that a car is more than like nine feet long. Ours is fifteen feet long, and even standing next to it, my brain is POSITIVE it’s small enough to fit in a bathroom.
This is the most me thing I’ve ever read on this site. I can’t read analog clocks I can’t recall number sequences etc.
my teenage years would have been so much easier if i’d been able to say “i have dyscalcula”. Now people accept my inability to read clocks, handle money, or fucking add up numbers without my fingers, as an ‘eccintricity’ thats allowed because im an artist. I had to become incredibly good at one thing before my inabilities were accepted. the thing that always got me the most though was no matter how good i was at music (by memory), english, creative writing, biology or art, it didn’t matter. I was still stupid and lazy because I couldnt do formulas.

So we’ve got a small but powerful token,
originally belonging to a powerful being, but taken by a flawed hero who didn’t know what he was getting in for,
and who is defeated, losing the item into the water.
This token comes into the keeping of an eccentric mortal for many years, giving them long life and vitality,
until they pass it on to a younger relative, and their health immediately begins to deteriorate.
The adorable, dark-haired, doe-eyed new bearer,
carrying the token on a necklace,
sets out to find someone else to take it,
but ultimately must take ownership of the quest themselves.
Along the way, they encounter endless dangers and obstacles,
finally facing their greatest challenge yet at a volcano,
and return the token to its source.

“Roxas…That’s a Stick.”
I talked to the McElroys for 15 goddamn minutes and Griffin told my parrot to go fuck itself
Buckle up kiddos, this is a story for the ages
Last night, I went to the Chicago live show, and in short it was one of the best nights of my life. I laughed so hard I choked on my Fancy Theater Sprite™. Cosplayers frolicked amongst people in Shrimp Heaven T Shirts amongst people in their Sunday best.
Towards the end of the show, the boys traditionally asked for questions from the crowd, and immediately over 1000 hands shot up. I was up in the balcony, but I raised my hand anyways for kicks. No waving, no movement. My hand was a beacon, a goddamn lighthouse in the middle of a swarming sea of desperate fans. Travis and I locked eyes. I felt my stomach drop.
“The person in the…purple hoodie?”
“You mean this?” I said as I stood and my crimson cosplay robe fell around my shoulders.
“Yeah!! Come on down!”
In a blur I made my way to the aisle as quickly as possible, people clapping me on the back and whispering “don’t mess up” all the while. My hands were shaking so bad that I couldn’t hold on to the railing as I climbed down three flights of stairs and walked down the aisle to the microphone.
And immediately caused someone to face plant into said microphone out of our combined clumsiness and panic (she was ok but boy shitting howdy do I feel bad). I waited for my turn slowly being consumed by blind terror. Everything I said was going to be forever embedded into podcast history for all of eternity. I Could Not Mess Up.
As they called me forward I mustered up every drop of comedic timing within me, every tactic of improv I could remember. I stepped up to the microphone. “So a little over a year ago, we bought a parrot, and it was, like, a cool pet…”
“yeah, AS OPPOSED TO THOSE SHITTY DOGS, RIGHT?” Griffin interjected. The crowd roared for what felt like years, until it was finally quiet enough for me to continue. Dead silence.
“Boys, now I have 7 parrots. Please help.”
In all my years, I will never forget the look on Griffin Andrew McElroy’s face as the realization hit him. It was like he was hit by a motherfucking monster truck, and the monster truck was being driven by my seven birds of the apocalypse.
For the next 15 minutes I talked to three of the coolest people alive as all four of us ragged on my 7 horrible, horrible birds. Highlights include:
“WHAT MADE YOU THINK, AFTER SIX GODDAMN BIRDS, THAT YOU NEEDED A SEVENTH?”
“YOU HAVE A FUCKING BIRD NAMED PIKACHU?”
“BIRD NUMBER 4 WAS LONELY?”
“FUCK SADIE”
It was the best night of my entire life and I physically cannot wait until the episode comes out.
I’m crying at how cute baby griffin mcelroy and his dad are in this anti-violence PSA program from the 90s (x)

-griffin constantly having no clue what to do with his hands
-clint giving some good goofs along with some wise, chill Fatherly Advice
