I really want some kind of... how do I phrase it? design, I suppose. I want an actual idea of what I look like so I can conceptualise of myself and the others can too

I mean. all of us want that and none of us really have it except la frog but it's a particularly ardent desire for myself what with how disconnected I feel from the rest of the system

but I've been thinking about it for a large number of hours across several days and. I got nothing. it's just whatever the midpoint of irritating and disappointing is

Well I think there’s a big disconnect between people for whom romantic relationships are [something usually separate from normal relationships] and those for whom romantic relationships are [something that only develops out of an existing friendship]. Obviously not everybody falls cleanly into these two groups, but I think most people exist within a subculture where one of the two romantic methods is dominant: you get a girlfriend by asking a girl on explicitly romantic dates where you get to know her vs. you get a girlfriend by gradually inching closer to an existing friend until you’re dating. The former is more straight-coded and the latter is more gay-coded, but they’re not exclusive to either. And I think this causes a lot of misunderstandings.

family reunions are really awkward because there's that one uncle you have who isn't pro-choice and he's also really bad at reading the room so he's just really loud about his Opinions and he's always like

"oh they're teaching crazy things in schools these days you know" and everyone buries their face in their hands as he launches into a tirade about how he thinks products of nonempty sets can be empty, and how ω_1 and ω_2 are supposedly measurable and ω_n purportedly are singular with cofinality ω_2 for finite n > 2. And then he goes into a tirade about how the next few regular cardinals are just this completely unhinged random list of course.

and just when he's finished his rant and everyone's about to move on someone makes the mistake of thinking he can be reasoned with and they're like "well uncle Bob surely there's nuance--" and he's like "NO!! NO NUANCE!! EITHER YOU CAN FORCE A WIN OF A TWO PLAYER GAME WITH COUNTABLY MANY POSSIBLE POSITIONS, OR YOUR OPPONENT CAN." and everyone buries their heads in their hands.

I’ve always looked at Love After You as a prologue song to Bird and Dog’s relationship, highlighting Dog’s struggles with trusting affection from others as a result of a particularly bad relationship BUT I think seeing this song as one from Dog to Bird is equally as interesting

ooh that's a take we hadn't considered... we like it as an epilogue for the way it's such a perfect inverse of I Wanna Be in Love Again (and because of the music video art heh) but that's really something we'll have to think about more
