i hate when ppl mock “gsa kids” and “baby gays” bc,, like i would literally do anything to go through the early stages of discovery again. Back when i just got so excited at the idea of anything with rainbows, and was excitily telling everyone that i was going by a new name and buying pronoun pins by the handful. And then i found internet discouse and immediatly decided to stop being so gay bc if i did- i would be mocked. i literally hate u all so much for acting like being new to the community and genunily excited is something bad or cringy. Theres literally nothing wrong with a teenager identifying with sixty labels and talking loudly. You know what happens if they realize they’re not ace, or nonbinary, or whatever else you think is fake? then they realize that they’re not that- and if you chose to support them- they also have a lot of good memories of their experiences in lgbt spaces. It’s literally that easy.

okay but there’s a difference between like, c!wilbur getting a redemption arc and c!dream getting a redemption arc

c!wilbur is redeemable because you could still see just a bit of good him, you could see that he did have a chance of changing before he gets offed by his dad

then there’s,,,,c!dream,,,who we’re pretty sure we can’t even trust because one day he acts all sad and miserable and the next day he’s being a little shit

there’s also a big difference in what they actually did.

c!wilbur blew up l’manberg, he blew up what everyone had worked on and fought for because he felt l’manberg could never be what it wanted to be. he pressured c!tommy a lot to join him in blowing it up and tried isolating him by reiterating they could trust no one but each other (because they’d both been exiled and everything that happened unwittingly confirmed him in his paranoia).

c!wilbur acted out of paranoia and a disillusionment in l’manberg, in everything he’d ever believed in.

and then we have c!dream who not only blew l’manberg up, he did isolate and manipulate c!tommy and made him think no one cared about him. he was willing to use what everyone held dearest against them to try and control them into doing his bidding and not rebel. he’s been manipulating c!ranboo at his weakest; when he’s enderwalking and not conscious. he was very close to killing c!tubbo because he’d served his purpose as c!dream’s pawn and throwing c!tommy in an obsidian jail cell where he probably wouldn’t be allowed visitors (only c!punz leading the entire server there stopped him).

c!dream acted out of selfishness and powerhunger, to get the full control over the server back. and to play a game with his favourite toy, c!tommy.

there’s such a stark difference in both c!wilbur and c!dream’s “falls from grace”, but there’s also a world between what they actually did, and their motivations are even further apart.

if you like or enjoy something mildly popular, LITERALLY ANYTHING AT ALL, there will be a massive backlash to it about 2-3 years in the future where it’s suddenly derided as bad and cringe to like. inevitably. your interests are not immune to it. at a certain point you really have to just not worry about that culture and enjoy your interests anyway
