ย ย ย ย THE WORDS HIT LIKE BRICKS. but thereโs a cadence to his steps that pulls him away, walking around her room like he was unfamiliar with it. Parts of him fading in and out until he finds his perch by her window, a great distance from her. Fiery eyes dimmed now as he studied her. Trying to put recollection to fact. To the reality of who she was before him and who she might have been in his head for the last few...months.ย โ Like what?ย โ

chase might have been right to think of him foolish. It's a ridiculous belief, and some part of him laughs about even considering it, when he'd hold such a strong face to his friends when he'd told them of the circumstances. What the future might hold for him. Dire and bleak as it may have been. But he'd been drowning in the mistakes of his father since he was a boy. Forced to deal with the choices he had made before Caleb could even understand that he had his own to make. But, in his experience, trust and belief, might be all they have when their power is their own cancer and their own addiction.
How he wished it could be so easy โ to blame it on fate as if it put him on the path towards them. To him. He wished he could believe it but the bricks were falling where they stood and one way or another one house will fall.
" you're blind. " And addicted. And rotten with greed. But there was no more need to stoke the fire when he can sense the power already echoing throughout the space. If he were any stronger, he could risk making him expend what little or what more of that power Chase had and drain him. But he didn't have time. He can't be smart or reckless with this. " And stupid if you think I'm giving you shit. "
He harnessed energy again in between his palms, air sucked in the shape of a ball and throws it back at him. A momentary distraction. Nothing to put even the slightest of hesitation on him, he's sure but it gives him time to come up with something else. Just a few more minutes until the clock strikes midnight and he turns 18. And maybe, just maybe, he gets lucky enough to end this.

๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ย ๐๐๐ย ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ย ๐๐๐ย space like a newborn giraffe fresh out of their motherโs womb, the sight would have been more hilarious to her if her home hadnโt been that space he occupied. Looking at the wreckage under his feet, she had saved her laptop, but now looked at the other debris that littered the room.ย It didnโt seem to get any better from there, watching as if in slow motion as he grew more tangled in the wires of the broken lamp and led with his shoulder into her wall.ย She closed her own eyes, bracing for impact as if occupying his body, and only peeking when the sound settled.ย More damage, she thought with a defeated sigh, certain whatever security deposit she had, was now long gone by the latest addition he left behind.ย With the bridge of her nose pinched between her fingers, pushing away her aggravation with a slow breath, Hayley knew she only had herself to blame.ย This was what she wrought after he finally settled down into a seat without breaking it.ย This was what she deserved.ย โ Yeah, food.ย You put it in your mouth, keeps you from croaking, and cures pretty much everything when youโre an emotional eater like I wish I was right now. โ Alas, she wasnโt. The only cure-all she could come up with was in a bottle, probably sitting shattered on her living room floor. Another defeated sigh left her from the dreadful thought, lips twisted in thought while she scoured her fridge for something edible.ย It wasnโt much, given her culinary skills were limited to removing the plastic film from a microwave dinner and setting a timer.ย There were a few staples she could turn towards when in need, however, and grilled cheese was as close to comfort food as she could come by at the time.ย It was either that or scrambled eggs, and one seemed a lot more fulfilling than the other to her.ย โ Youโre clearly not just some drifter or a drunken idiot who had a bad fall.ย I can pretend I didnโt see what I know I saw, try to rationalize it, but thatโs not really me. That leaves very few possibilities and Iโm practically talking to myself right now, arenโt I? โย She already knew the answer to that.
Rather than attempting any deeper conversation, she concentrated on her current task without ending up with a burnt crust or undercooked cheese in the middle.ย It didnโt take long to slide it upon a plate and set it in front of him, eyeing the confused look on his face while he continued taking in his surroundings and the result of her actions.ย โ Food, โย giving a single-worded explanation of what was set in front of him, she settled into a seat adjacent to his, demonstrating even further by pinching off a small corner piece and bringing it to her mouth, chewing and swallowing with some dramatization when she rubbed her stomach as if fulfilled.ย She rolled her eyes at herself for that choice. โ You eat food.ย Itโs good. โย Simple conversation seemed to work best, at least so far, so she decided not to delve deeper for now while he adjusted.ย โ Home? This is my home. Whereโs your home? Up there? โย Hand gestures used to demonstrate what was home to her, she then lifted her eyes upward, pointing to the ceiling and hoping he understood she didnโt mean one floor above, but even furtherโฆ higher.
everything still perplexed him. From the arrangements of things to the objects crushed under his feet. It was a little difficult to fathom, where he could be, who she could be. He still felt too big for this world. Out of place. And out of his depth. Machine and voices spoke into his ear, almost deafening him to a point until its the girl's voice that brings him back to the present. Food seemingly good enough to anchor him into the moment. Quiet and settled now compared to the thundering of feet and arms into walls and objects he had no name for not yet.
She continued to speak and words kept barely making any sense to him. A string of sentences beyond his comprehension. To which he could only reply is confusion and frustration through a frown and furrowed brows. These people, they looked like him but they weren't like him. Their world seemed all too little for what his Uncle had planned. A future from Krypton where there's already a future being laid out. The thought did leave him a bit unsettled but his priority was trying to make sense of the now. If he had his ship, this conversation might have been done easier.
A solemn nod and he takes the offered meal, follows her action and tried a bit of a bite. Relishing for a moment the curious taste Studying it after as he recalled the words he'd said, taking another bite with more gusto this time. " Good. " He comments, dryly, despite the sliver of a smile that stretches over his lips. Excited as it takes over his features, prompting the scowl off and replacing a more gentle over the sharp lines of his face. " Home? " He asks, distracted, following then her words and the implied meaning without truly understanding it and then the direction she directs with her eyes up above.
Slowly, the smile once again disappeared as he nodded. Setting down the half of his slice back on the plate, he mulled over the words and his actions. How to properly convey the loss of what had really happened to Krypton. What had prompted them to send him all the way here, across stars and worlds. " Home. " He started, showing off his hand in a closed fists that opened abruptly in the guise of an explosion. Home. Gone. No more. And he meets her gaze long after the imaginary dust had settled and wondered if she understood.

Lydia had screamed herself hoarse in the beginning. Until the time came when she couldnโt tell the difference between her pain and that of the others out there. And thatโs when she fell silent. Such a small thing shouldnโt have felt like such a catastrophic defeat but it did.ย
Her mind struggled to reconcile his voice with the one she knew and had grown to care for so quickly. Because what were the odds the gods would put them both in one spot? She nodded despite knowing that he couldnโt see her and pressed her body against the wall.ย โShit. Sorry, Adam, go find him.โ That didnโt stop her from seeking out his hand and giving it a small squeeze.ย โHurry. Before they notice.โ
itโs almost nothing. Just his name on someoneโs lips. Words to interrupt the silence. A mere touch of hand that turns into a grip. Almost.ย A most cruel word someone once said to him. One of the soldiers he thinks. Dead now. Almost. Something that kills you before it ever reaches your heart. But almost nothing was still something.ย
And her voice pulls like a snap somewhere in his brain.ย
He crash lands against hers, chest pressed against hers. Brows furrowed in the darkness. As if caging his body against hers would make any of this feel any much closer to sanity.ย โ W-what? L-lydia?โ He doesnโt understand the tremor that suddenly takes over. He doesnโt understand the surge of feeling in his chest. Emotions. Emotions. Emotions trying to kill him ont he spot. But thatโs all he allowed before he sucked in a breath, knotted their fingers together and tugged her along with him.ย

HER THUMBNAIL FINDS ITโS WAY BETWEEN HER TEETH TO WATCH HIM,ย green eyes wide to watch him, nervously allowing teeth scrape away the layers of the acrylic. But his smile is enough to draw her own, relaxing a little. Though, sheโs cursing herself as she nods at him in agreement for him to wait outside. Thereโs a mix of shame and humiliation swirling in her chest, and she wouldnโt blame him if he took the opportunity to escape the unstable girl who had climbed a shelf and nearly it knocked it down on top of both of them.
The clerk doesnโt seem to notice her still flushed cheeks and the fact that sheโs carrying her heels. Just rings her up like itโs normal and she takes her bag to head outside. Offering a smile as she steps out the door, and he hadnโt fled.ย โ Hey. I didnโt scare you off completely. Coffee? โ Because it could be a whole lot worse, and maybe she needs a moment to settle. Alone, sheโll just spiral in the embarrassment.ย
โ donโt ya worry that pretty little head of yours,ย โ he offered with some sense of faux severity before a smile is stretching over his features. A grin that nearly takes over all his face. The last few minutes just spent standing about and watching people as they walked past him and went on about their own business.ย โ Takes a lot more than that to scare me off.ย โ
Maybe heโd just sensed her nervousness. Or her palpable guilt that made him want to be nice. Or sheโs just pretty. Either way, Camden canโt say. Instead he offers her his arm and leads the way towards the nearby cafe he was pretty sure sheโd meant.ย

Frustration rolled off of the wolf, so strong that you could probably feel it without supernatural senses. Inhaling sharply, head shook. โIf that makes you feel better, but donโt forget that youโre the one that brought this up. If you really thought I wasnโt going to question you about it, then you donโt know me at all.โ Derek wasnโt good at this type of thing, but considering the past he had? A lot was learned from everything that had happened to him. He was trying to be better now, but situations like this didnโt really help. Hands spread out in front of him, flexing callus digits briefly. โWhy bring it up, if you donโt really want to tell me?โ
โ no. figured iโm the one with the wrong sense to think that some shit donโt need saying.ย โ Then again, that really could just be him. Honest words had never been readily available at his disposal. Words hurled in anger, in frustration, as projectiles, those he still had good in hand. This honesty bullshit and introspection, hardly. But he kept his mouth quiet. He kept his lips shut. His frustration going back six feet under, buried along with the rest of his rage, regret, disappointment. Everything that made it so hard to breathe in the morning.ย โ Just forget about it, Derek. Sโall bullshit in the end.ย โ

Raising his eyebrows, he was curious to see just how the other would actually respond. Given the other fact willingly made his way from his bedroom to the bathroom something had to be going on with him. For all he knew it mightโve been the concussion that brought him to the loft in the first place. Or it couldโve been something completely different. Either way he was actually amused at the situation. Magnus wasnโt bothered by the fact the other had caught him fresh out of the shower. There was nothing for him to be bothered by. But clearly Lucian was and he wasnโt about to keep him there longer than necessary. โYou can let me get dressed. Or you can ask me your question. It mustโve been important for you to find me in my own bathroom.โ Which was his way of saying once again that Lucian needed to spit out whatever it was on his mind.
โ i,ย โ He paused again, quiet for a substantial amount of time before he manages to find some semblance of clarity in the sudden haze that took over. Sense falling back into place as he finally faced the other.ย โCan I go home yet?ย โ He asks, with the exhaustion of someone who hadnโt been in bed for the last two days, unconscious and weary. He needed to be in his own bed. Surrounded by books again. Thatโs what he needed. Not thinking about things he shouldnโt.ย
