Today I Learned... (#1)
Today I learned what the “ring of fire” is. It surprises me sometimes when you realize that there’s phrases I commonly hear but don’t actually know the meaning behind. “Ring of fire” was one of those phrases.
While I was reading a Scientific American article from 1997 for a class assignment, I learned that the ring of fire is a “ring” on earth where many volcanic eruptions and earthquakes occur. This ring is on continental coasts surrounding the Pacific Ocean. Here’s an image for reference that I found online:
Fascinating.

You have to hope, and you have to go on. Even when you've lost more games than you've won, and you've been down so far that a tie feels like winning, you have to pick up the ball and run it back to midfield and believe, in spite of it all, that this game is still winnable.

That's it, I'm moving.
I relate to everything Jo said! All the YA I read as a teen had given me this idea of what relationships are supposed to look like when, really, those types don’t even exist as I’m coming to realize.
The reason why I love this YouTube creator is because she articulates things that I think but never knew how to say. She is an amazing speaker with such interesting perspectives, and just from the format of her videos, I can tell that she is probably a very talented writer.
A Diverse Way of Reading
This video created by Jo the Great has some great thoughts about the purpose of reading and the way that books can help us grow as people. I’d highly recommend watching it.

Seriously, take me to Lake Erie, somebody!
