zach hemsey;
一 the way.
#I honestly forgot how to breathe #actual princess #my sun and stars ♥(ˆ⌣ˆԅ)
“Trust me, I’ve got this handled. Besides, what if that’s what I’m using it for? I really appreciate the concern Grets, but I was QUITE good at Herbology in school. You can always look after me if you’d like.”
“I would just hate to see you get hurt during my shift. That would be awful. Plus, if you decided to sue, it’d come back on me and I just can’t afford that right now.” Greta grinned. “I’ll trust you to take care of yourself from now on, though.”
“I am, but time will see if it stays that way.” He was joking. He usually never took anything for granted, but a little sarcasm never hurt anyone. When she gave him the price he reached into his back pocket to to get the money he carried around out.
“So you’re saying you’re regressive in nature?” she retorted with a small smirk. “That’s not something I can fix with a plant, but I can recommend a great therapist.” She wrapped up the tea, setting it on the counter between them for him to take, and then holding out her hand for the money.
“I definitely think so, you might get sued otherwise.” Astrid insisted, smiling as she leaned against what she assumed was a safe table. “Of course, you sound so surprised. It has, a year or so, it’d seem. How have you been?”
“I’d hate to get sued. I have nothing worth taking, anyway!” Greta let out a laugh, hopping up to sit on the counter top facing Astrid. “Not many people come see me, especially around here. I’ve... been. I work, I sleep, I work, I sleep. Life is an endless cycle, isn’t it? How about you?”
“So you know, hypothetically my co-worker keeps drinking my coffee. Now, I love my coffee, it fuels me. It gets me through the day. It stops me from being violent, and this person is putting that at risk. If they were to….accidentally come into contact with this, that’s what would happen? They’d get covered in boils?       Hypothetically, of course. For the greater good, you see.”
Greta’s eyes widened as she listened, nodding along slowly. “Well, hypothetically or literally, yes. I’m a herbologist, not an auror. If you want to really hit them where it hurts, you should try something a bit more lasting. Boils are easy to cure. Rashes last far longer.”
“I wonder if there’s anything about science in here..”
“I think there might be a small section with muggle books in the back. Fiction or non, because it gets tricky from there.”
“Thank you for that visual. You know this from experience?”
“Live and learn, as they say. I did create a pretty great ointment for it as a by-product, though, so I can’t complain about it.”Â
“It might be hard, but I think I might be able to not take advantage of generosity for once.” He laughed a little jokingly. “How much do I owe?”
“That shows real character. You should be quite proud right now.” She smiled, starting to wrap up with tea. “A few knuts should cover it.”Â
“If it’s not too much trouble? You’d be saving lives. Well, my life. Making my life less difficult. Not too much pressure. At least I’m trying not to put too much on you.”
“It’s literally my job, so I’m going to go with that I don’t mind. For now, at least. If you start to take advantage of my insane generosity, we’ll reevaluate the situation.”
“What do you want?”
“Just the book you’re standing in front of... If that’s not too much of a bother to your standing around.”
“He was not shy about throwing around his title, so I know exactly what he does for a living. I’ll just say the he has a fairly high-up job at the ministry.”
“That just makes it even worse. You would think the powers-that-be would have better taste in ministry professionals. Deplorable...”Â
“ what in the world is this!? ”
“It’s Devil’s Snare. I’m sure you’ve heard of it. It’ll literally squeeze the life out of you, though, so I’d keep my hands off. Unless that’s the goal, and then I might recommend some sort of therapy, really. That can’t be a good thing.”Â
Nothing can wear you out like caring about people.
