It was quite typical for new pieces of information to make their way across Kerra's desk; intel gained from interrogations that she had not been involved in, anonymous tips, points for further questioning, and all sorts of other information. She read through them briefly, sorting them into various categories until one of the tips caught her attention: Rebel activity has been spotted on Tal Nami, they seem to have a Jedi working with them.
A blurry image was attached. It was hard to make out the details, but Kerra felt as if she had seen the man before. She was certain that she didn't know him, but there was a certain something about his face that seemed familiar.
As she stared at the image, her thoughts were drawn back to a conversation that she had with Brean Claemoore a little over a year ago. He had mentioned that he had reasons to believe that a Jedi named Braig had killed his mother, asking Kerra if she would do him the favour of finding this rogue Jedi murderer. It was by no means an official assignment, but when you dealt in the world of secrets and rumours it was easy and often encouraged to follow leads that could lead to the elimination of Rebel threats and help strengthen the Empire.
She hadn't agreed just for the sake of doing a family friend a favour. Yes, it would be good to have a favour in return, especially with the way Brean seemed to be climbing the ranks, but the allure of the job came from the benefit that capturing or killing a Jedi would have for her career. Kerra had agreed, and for the first time in several months it seemed as though she had a solid lead on finding this Braig.
Kerra filed the few remaining items away, set an indication on her schedule that she would be away and unavailable, and headed to the hangar bay.
An unmarked ship and a slight change of clothes later and she had made it to Tal Nami, ready to see if the tip would actually prove to be useful. The woman wandered through the streets and the market, watching the bustle of people around.
Movement out of the corner of her eye caught her attention and she turned, peering over her shoulder to get a glimpse of what it was. Sure enough, it was the man from the image and a small group of others, talking amongst themselves.
Dark glasses concealing her gaze, she stared at him, watching as the group made their way through the market. Kerra trailed a ways behind them for a bit, eventually peeling off into the bustle of the market stalls for more crowd cover so she would hopefully be less noticeable.
Content to listen and watch for now, Kerra clung to the shadows and the bustle of the market, trying her very best to catch any whispers of what they may be talking about. Now was not the time to take risks, it was a time to be patient and wait for the right opportunity to strike.
She just hoped that it would happen soon.
