I draw, write and have a LOT of thoughts, so this blog will have all of that on it

My current favs are Riddle 🌹, Cater ♦️, Ruggie 🍩and Jamil 🐍 but there aren't any characters who I dislike !!

I relate a lot to Cater and Riddle for different reasons. Riddle because he's British and puts WAY too much pressure on himself, Cater because he procrastinates on things in exactly the same way I do, it's UNCANNY 😭

Currently, I'm fairly new to the fandom and TWST media so do please correct me if I get anything wrong!! But do so kindly!!! I am trying to learn all I can but I only have so much time on my hands 😭

jamil viper is one of those characters the fandom keeps trying to reframe because the truth is uncomfortable

people call him a servant, a worker, an aide, anything that sounds voluntary. but jamil didn’t choose this life. he was born into it. there was never an option to refuse, never a moment where he could step back and say no without consequences hanging over him and his family

this isn’t a job you quit. it’s a role you inherit

his entire upbringing was structured around deference. obedience wasn’t taught later, it was foundational. before he could decide who he wanted to be, his place had already been decided for him. that’s why it runs so deep. that’s why it’s so exhausting. he isn’t just overworked, he’s trapped in a system that expects lifelong submission and calls it loyalty

what makes it harder, and what people really don’t want to deal with, is that jamil doesn’t hate kalim

he has resentment, bitterness, anger that he’s not allowed to express. but he also cares. he protects him instinctively. he worries about him. he feels relief when kalim chooses not to ruin him after everything that happens. and that relief alone says everything about the imbalance between them

because gratitude shouldn’t exist there. fear shouldn’t exist there. but they do

kalim doesn’t have to be malicious for this dynamic to be harmful. the cruelty is structural. kalim benefits from a system that limits jamil’s life before either of them fully understood it. jamil knows this. that’s why his emotions are so tangled. it’s not hatred, it’s the slow rot of being told “not you” over and over again while still being expected to smile and care

jamil’s story isn’t about being evil or jealous or power-hungry

it’s about being intelligent enough to recognize the cage, disciplined enough to survive inside it, and human enough to resent the fact that loving the person on the other side of it doesn’t make the bars disappear

calling him “just a servant” doesn’t make the situation kinder

it just makes it easier to ignore

cater diamond gets flattened by the fandom more than almost anyone else in twst

most of the time he’s reduced to “the magicam guy.” the silly, social, selfie-obsessed upperclassman who talks in hashtags and trends. but that version of cater is mostly a persona he built to survive the way he grew up

it’s very obvious cater didn’t have a stable childhood when it came to relationships. his family moved constantly, meaning every few years he had to leave behind whatever friendships he had just started forming. when that happens over and over while you’re young, you eventually stop believing that relationships are meant to last

so instead of building deep connections, you get really good at building quick ones

you learn how to be charming, funny, likable. the type of person who can walk into a room and immediately get along with everyone. but those friendships stay shallow because part of you already expects them to disappear eventually. it hurts less if nobody gets too close

that’s why cater keeps everyone at arm’s length

he has acquaintances everywhere, but very few people who truly know him. and he even admits that socializing can be exhausting, which says a lot when you remember that he’s constantly performing this bright, energetic personality for others

the labwear vignette gives one of the clearest glimpses into what’s underneath that performance. mandrakes infused with magic copy aspects of the person who created them. when cater makes one, it ends up withdrawn, hugging its knees and sitting quietly. it’s gloomy in a way that doesn’t match the loud “cay-cay” persona people see every day

that contrast matters

because cater himself says that if he isn’t cheerful enough to lift people’s spirits, it “doesn’t feel like cay-cay.” in other words, happiness isn’t just something he expresses. it’s something he feels required to perform in order to be accepted

and when someone spends years performing a version of themselves that people like, it becomes difficult to believe anyone would stay for the parts that aren’t bright, entertaining, or easy

so cater keeps smiling. keeps joking. keeps posting on magicam. keeps being the guy everyone remembers as fun

because if people remember the cheerful version of him, at least they’ll remember him at all

will always love Ace berating Trey for enabling Riddle. it's just a really good scene. like first off he's fucking RIGHT but also i think it's the first part that we see a deeper part of Ace, it becomes clear that he's the kind of person who will call put an injustice regardless of others' feelings and opinions. he is an annoying asshole, yeah, but he's also someone who is in some ways rather emotionally intelligent. he seems to lack empathy pretty greatly which ends up what makes him so good at this sorta thing. he isn't blinded by being affected by other people's emotions, which allows him to more easily call things out for how they are without downplaying. sometimes that ends up for the worse, but with Trey— and, honestly, Riddle too— we see this being effective in helping people see their errors in a way sugarcoating wouldn't.
