-- aspects of my nonhuman identities are influenced by mental illness, but that does not make them any less valid. however, this does mean that this blog will feature sensitive content typically including but not limited to discussions of trauma (emotional, childhood, sexual), dissociation, and psychosis. i'll add warnings whenever possible, but please exhibit caution!

-- i think syscourse is stupid and nobody has the right to dictate for someone else what experience is or isn't valid if they're not the one experiencing it. the psych industry in its entirety relies on techniques to best reduce symptoms that impede a person's ability to function in a society which demands excellence when excellence is a flawed idea at its core, and to hinge your entire perspective on a group's experience on a flawed system, especially one which would happily reduce other alterhuman experiences to medical or mental conditions, is to assume that the psych industry is always right and always on your side. basically i'm pro endo/any system origin although i'm traumagenic myself. and anyone who actively harasses non-traumagenic systems can get the fuck out. heart emoji

alterhuman identities:

alterhumanity - the experience of existing in a way which differs from the typical human experience, often including a disconnect between yourself and orthohumans and relating to a species or being identity which differs from the traditional expectation of "human"

nonhuman - self explanatory; i do not identify as human and prefer not to be referred to in that way. terms such as people/person are fine though.

otherkin - i identify as and have a sense of self strongly tied to nonhuman creatures, such as animals, the divine, or the supernatural (non-exhaustive list)

fictionkin - i identify as and have a sense of self tied strongly to fictional characters.

plural - also considered alterhuman according to the original coining post; multiple consciousnesses and identities exist within my singular body, each with their own unique thoughts and identities. i'll specify in specific 'type identities if it's a collective identity or specific to a headmate.

otherkin identities:

vampirekin - i identify as and fully am a vampire, mostly of a similar variety to anne rice's vampires with a smattering of traditional folklore and media interpretations. semi-collective identity, mostly manifests through mikey (co-host)

caninehearted - i identify with and consider my identity in some way connected to canines as a species, resonating with their characteristics and sense of expression while not fully identifying as one. collective identity, mostly manifests through pete and ghoul.

fictionkin identities:

italicized are identities which primarily manifest through and are discussed by certain headmates, usually through a mixing of fictionkin and plural experiences in a way best described as a separate sense of self (known as a fabletive)

hello guys in light of disability pride month i would like to urge everyone to practice harm reduction in any area of life if it is possible for you. if you have an eating disorder please let yourself eat enough for your body to keep going, especially because it takes more energy for disabled people to function. if you abuse substances please make sure they don’t interact harmfully with any medications you take (for example: watching your alcohol intake when on SSRIs). if you self harm please clean your wounds so your body doesn’t have to overcompensate when trying to heal. if you mask heavily for social survival please try to give yourself rest and breaks so you don’t completely burn out. i know sometimes all of this is impossible, and that’s okay. but if you can, i urge you to be a little kinder to yourself this month. i love you.

Weird pattern I keep noticing in nonhuman spaces so I'd like to point this out. You can't wear collars, silicone tails, puphood/half muzzles & harnesses and be against kink/BDSM. Thats just not how it works.

You can wear all that stuff for non-sexual reasons, but you need to remember that that stuff belongs to the kink community, and you need to respect the origins and history of what you are wearing.

Show tails (non plug silicone tails) originated from the pet play/kink scene, for the love of god DO NOT WEAR ONE if you're going to hate on pet play.

and if you pull the "I'm a minor!" thing, then don't fucking wear something so heavily associated with kink culture!

Let's exercise our imaginations and think about what actually experiencing the events in the show/game/book what have you would be like and then ask ourselves critical questions like "would I appreciate it if someone made a joke about the worst thing that ever happened to me without seeing if I was cool with it first?"
