“It’s almost 7. I’ve had to hit snooze on your alarms four times now.”
“I fail to see your point,” Vox said in response. His hands curled tighter around your waist, holding you captive in his grip.
You rolled your eyes. You had important things to do today, and you knew for a fact that he most likely did as well; however, your requests to be set free from the confines of his arms seemed to fall on deaf ears. It was honestly ridiculous— he was supposed to be on top of things, the responsible one.
But Vox was never a morning person. He let out a yawn (you briefly have time to once again question the workings of his mouth) and blinked open his eyes, his expression a mixture of exhaustion and pouting.
“I have stuff to do today,” you said for what felt like the umpteenth time, grasping at his hands and trying to pry them from your body with no avail. It feels like trying to rip off a leech. A 7 foot tall, clawed, TV headed leech.
“That,” he grumbled, shifting slightly as he tightened his grip, “is not my issue. I’ve told you like, multiple times now that office jobs are for poor bitches.”
You liked working at Voxtek and detested special treatment, and that always bothered Vox. Everything would be so much easier for you if he just dumped all of your work on some poor little intern and made you famous. He could only imagine the ratings…
Still, you were stubborn as a mule. He was not going to change that about you.
Sometimes he didn’t know if he really wanted to.
“Don’t you have stuff to do?” you replied, hoping that would prompt some sort of action.
“I’m the boss,” Vox huffed as he pressed a finger to your mouth to silence you. “I don’t have to do anything. Who’s gonna get onto me, huh? Guess who— nobody.”
You groan and push his finger away from your lips.
“Velvette and Valentino, probably, because you’re not doing the shit you’re meant to,” you reminded him. It was more likely to be Velvette that complained, honestly. Valentino never woke up past 10– if he had even fallen asleep yet. He was a massive fan of all nighters.
“Like they have any authority over me,” he grumbled, before going quiet and looking off, as if he was thinking. “…I don’t want to listen to them bitching at me, though.”
He mumbled something under his breath, and you could make out bits of him mimicking the doll demons accent. You suppressed a laugh.
“Exactly why you should get up,” you said softly, taking his hands into yours. He stared at you, his expression turning into more of a pout before he groaned. He pulled you closer to him.
“Five more minutes,” Vox said definitively, as if it wasn’t up for debate. You sighed. You had a feeling this is the closest you’re going to get to having it your way, so you might as well compromise.
“Fine. Five more— only five more— minutes, then we have to get up.”
You heard the sound of a bell, similar to that of the sound that plays when someone wins an award on a game show. You couldn’t help but let out a laugh.
“You’re such an asshole.”
“Shut up. I win.”
You rolled your eyes, before closing them and relaxing into his death grip that had (slightly) loosened. Maybe it was okay if you were a little bit late.
Have had this idea in my mind of a multiple chapter fic where Vox is forced to come to the hotel and be redeemed as punishment and the reader just takes like a strange liking to him for some reason, maybe they used to be friends or just for some reason they really like him and try to help Charlie force him into changing (they’re actually there to genuinely get redeemed unlike him but they obviously kind of suck too) and they grow close and it would just kind of revolve around forgiving yourself and making a change and exploring how far gone is far gone when it comes to morality, and Vox having to face repercussions and like plot his way back to power but he’s got this thing going on with you so he feels bad… idk idk if there’s stuff similar like that out there or if anyone would be interested it was just a thought I had please tell me if it sounds worth reading

𝐍𝐨𝐭𝐞𝐬: I wonder who that friend is...(spoiler it’s me) Thank you for purposely giving me an excuse to indulge you know me so well. Tried a different format and tried to be a little more in depth bc I feel like I’ve gotten lazy lately and I feel guilty.
I don’t view Vox as a person who is very comfortable with verbalizing affection unless it is used in a malicious way in order to hurt someone else. Genuinely trying to show his care unnerves him. It feels like he’s making himself vulnerable and putting himself out there to get hurt. I definitely don’t think he was a ‘victim’ to Alastor or baby him like some people do, but I think that being the first time he was ever soft with someone like that put him off from it for a while due to him wanting to avoid having another 70 year long grunge against someone who ended up fucking him over. Hes a bit distant until he gets more comfortable and knows for sure that the relationship is something permanent and sustainable, and even then it kind of feels like you’re at arms length, only seeing what he wants you to see
That being said, Vox excels in doing little things that remind you he does truly value you even if it’s not something that’s said out loud all the time. He always wants to make sure you’re taking care of yourself— eating, sleeping, whatever you name it. He has constant watch over everything so he knows if you didn’t.
He remembers little random things you mentioned liking to him too. He’s a decent gift giver, and though sometimes he goes overboard bc he’s trying to prove his love for you and he thinks flaunting his wealth will impress you. Either way, while it boosts his ego a large part of it is about wanting you to feel safe and special.
Not to make weird assumptions but I feel like Vox probably does not know what any sort of healthy relationship feels like so while he finds himself in a lot of toxic situations usually, if he finds a partner who genuinely is a decent person to him it kind of takes him a minute to get used to. A lot of his relationships I think, if he even has anything outside of the Vees (I like to think he’s dated in and out of hell anyways) the bounds are purely sexual and transactional. He’s never admit it but as much as he does love the attention he gets from people there’s something that feels especially special about having attention that feels personal like that.
Needs to be babied. It’s kind of annoying but you eventually get used to it. Always whining about someone or something at work or Alastor or how no one appreciates him and comes home to you and expects you to coddle him with a smile on your face. Tell him how perfect and awesome he is and he eventually stops.
That one annoying boyfriend who’s always hounding you about eating and drinking. This is canon so I don’t even wanna hear it. /lh
I know he and Val have an undefined/open relationship and I know a lot of people make him a cheater in fics but I feel like he just hates that. It makes him feel insanely jealous and he wants to be the only one you see that way. I think the feeling is mutual because we see him reject peoples advances in the show (unless that’s just because he especially doesn’t like Katie Killjoy but I’m choosing to believe he just is a very loyal partner and no one can stop me from being delusional!)
On a similar note he is a very jealous partner. More of a whiney jealous than anything. He just kind stares at whoever he’s upset at with a “>:[“ until you pick up on his tantrum. Denies it when pointed out

Feels weird about being called “Vincent.” He doesn’t hate it an insane amount but he feels like he’s become so much better and stronger and it’s been so long that he’s not sure how it makes him feel
Sleeping with him is weird. The lightest sleeper in the history of the world and will be pissed all day if he’s woken up too early. I know a lot of people have different headcanons about what happens when he sleeps, but I like to think that his screen just plays white noise, or it’s like how my TV at my house is and it just plays slight ambiance and does like a slideshow. Either way, there’s a little noise involved unless you mute him. Will wake up angry about it because what do you MEAN you don’t want to hear him sleep >:[ you hate him and want him dead
Okayish? At cooking. Don’t let him be in charge of dinner though because usually he doesn’t want to cook and just wants greasy fast food. I swear every photo I’ve seen of him eating is burgers. Weirdo.
If you do cook though he helps a lot. He’s weirdly domestic sometimes. He’ll eat with you if he has time and call you on his lunch breaks if he can’t spend them with you. He gets very sucked into work and his ratings sometimes but he tries his best when he can
Likes to mention you on his talk show on occasion smile. If you’re public about your relationship (which may take a while) he’s very much an “I love my wife/husband/spouse” guy

Mornings with him are blah. You have to force him to get up because he insists on “five more minutes” repeatedly. He likes to pirate films you both love and sit and watch them with you. Also pirates Shark Week and bitches about them stealing his idea while being happy that he gets all of the shark content
Sugar daddy sort of without even realizing it. Has so much money he kind of doesn’t even realize it’s a lot when he randomly sends $10,000 to your account with the message “get whatever you want today”

I imagine all of Vox’s crushes are, to an extent, obsessive. We see how he stalks Valentino and how he presumably does the same to Alastor even when he absolutely hates him. I don’t think he really knows how to act “normal” about literally ANYTHING so I don’t imagine him to be much different than how he usually is if he was obsessing over someone because… well, this is how he usually is
He goes out of his way to constantly be monitoring you on his cameras throughout the day. He tells himself he’s just checking on you when in reality he’s just being weird
Happens to be in the same place you are miraculously a lot of the time
I think the weird touchiness factor Alastor mentioned kind of comes in to play here too
Somehow always knows little things about you when you don’t even recall mentioning it and is always trying to play it off
Probably one of the worst out of the three to reject
Puts you on this huge pedestal and has all these expectations of you and you loving him and his reality is crushed when he realizes he’s delusional
He does not let grudges go AT ALL and he’s seriously pissed and offended if you decide you don’t want to be with him

On the inside at least. I think she has a bit more self control than the man children she hangs around, so while she’s struggling with this intense insane crush on you, she knows how to hide it better (sort of)
Kind of sees partners as accessories to herself. While she’s not insanely uninterested in you per say, she’s more interested in how you fit with her and will make her look and fit with her rather than you as a person and your interests
If she doesn’t have you on social media already she’s stalking you— no matter how niche or secretive the account, she finds it. Your whole digital footprint WILL be found by this woman, make no mistake

I’m not sure if I like the ideas I have for her lore rn but this is Bonnie!
Essentially she and Vox are exes and I know for sure I want her to be an ex Overlord. I might rewrite the backstory I have in the reference though because I feel like it’s kind of stupid. I don’t think it makes sense for her to just pass her role onto Velvette or anything, I made that when I was insanely tired
She’s a bunny because I feel like bunnies best represent me ^_^ also she’s a stuffed one because she’s a toy to most people she’s been involved with in life and death leading to her being emotionally “beat up” sometimes, hence the stitches
Like I connected her to in the last post, she’s very inexpressive emotionally and is outwardly very reserved but has a whirlwind of things going on inside her head that are all too invisible to everyone but her. Her main sin revolves around her excusing abusive behavior of men she’s involved with towards others and herself. Essentially shes an enabler, and when she’s in love she feels that person can do no wrong and helps them enact horrific things even if she knows deep down it’s wrong
Bonnie and Vox split because Vox thought being emotionally vulnerable with someone after Alastor made him weak and he cut her off to prove he didn’t need her a little while after the two men’s initial falling out. This hurt her immensely especially after she lost Alastor due to her involvement with Vox (they were friends before Vox came into the picture) This is what leads to her giving up being an overlord, however certain things happen that lead to her needing a job so she’s forced to work with Velvette. At the time she’s very unaware of current events so she still sees Vox as “Vincent” and has no clue what Voxtek or the Vees are so she takes the job without knowing anything really.
She does obviously find out though and she’s very desperate to win him and his affections. She misses him immensely and in a way he became a sort of “Alastor” like character to her, but she’s far less angry bc again she doesn’t think the people she loves can do wrong even to her. She knows it’s not healthy but she loves him too much and thinks about him constantly.
They have it out argue for a while and start a weird toxic situationship thing where they both love each other and have sex or whatever but Vox is a WHORE and again EUGH vulnerability commitment no thank you!!! Also he’s still fucking Valentino so it’s weird and awkward
She’s also very much like a therapist to him and she comforts him a lot and knows him better than anyone dadada and he hates it and pushes her away but then pulls her back in when he needs stuff idk THEYRE VERY UNHEALTHY but also very in love

So Vox isn't particularly good at hiding his emotions, right? I like to imagine him with a partner or spouse like Judah from BoJack Horseman or Maud Pie, where the reader is very stone-faced and difficult to read unless you know them really well. Like reader is complaining about something in a monotone voice and Vox is like "Honey, don't yell!" Basically a reader whose expressionless on the outside but very sensative on the inside

I think Vox would definitely have a very stoic seeming partner. I like the idea of them balancing each other out. Vox can read them very well and understands them better than most can, while his partner can help him understand how to get a better grip on his reactions.
Vox X reader headcanons where the reader has slight shark motives in her demon form? I honestly love whenever ppl write Vox just yapping about sharks and then the reader is just listening to every single bit of info. And the reader shows that sometimes by saying some of the facts he told her, that are related to the current conversationnn!! (Eg: Vox is talking about smth that's not sharks and then the reader would pop in a "oh so it's like ___")

Time for self indulgent Bunny rant about her Vox headcanons!
So basically, we know sinners demon forms are based off of their lives, usually specifically how they ended their lives, presumably in an effort to mock them
I assume that most everyone in the Hazbin universe is uncomfortable with or hates their demon forms, and I believe Vox is no exception
He hates his for two reasons:
The first reason is that Vincent, while I shamefully find him much more attractive as Vox, was objectively pretty imo. Vox completely lost his face when he fell down to hell, and it was replaced by a face he did not recognize at all and retained basically zero features from his human form. I don’t think he was too happy losing his original body, and I think having to adjust to a change that big and getting used to having what feels like a strangers face on your body is not fun or easy at all
Some sinners look so much like humans and I think he envied that— having some sort of connection to your human body while he had basically nothing but a screen and a much larger, machine like body
Second of all, the way Vox died was honestly kind of embarrassing
I don’t think he likes being reminded of the fact that nearly everything was taken from him due to a tv accident. He spent years trying to grow as a star (although he didn’t do it honestly) and now he has to be reminded of that every time he looks in the mirror
So yeah- the fact that he would probably already have insecurities surrounding his face COMBINED with the fact that you’re literally the only thing he probably would have been comfortable turning into? Yeah he doesn’t show it openly but he’s like “>:(“ about it lmao
Like.. yeah he’s got the gills and the teeth but it’s not the same and if you have more features then him he’s subtly pissy about it, especially if you didn’t like sharks or didn’t care about them as much as he did
...he still probably would be incredibly attracted to someone who did have such features though so I think that would overpower his frustration with it
He likes to admire you sometimes when you’re not looking. You’ll be half paying attention and look up and he’s just admiring you
The first time he saw you he was probably in awe
He seems to tend to hire fish like employees from what I’ve seen so imagine you apply for a job and you walk in and you’re just immediately hired on the spot and you’re so confused while Vox is just like “I have to hire and marry them NOWWWW”
If you like to swim he lets you swim with his sharks begrudgingly. They’ve most likely been told not to hurt you, not that they would anyways. Anyone daddy likes they like

If the fact that you’re a shark is related to unpleasant memories/death or anything that makes you hate it he’s as reassuring as he can be. He’s not good with emotions but he understands the feeling and he thinks you look wonderful
