something I haven’t seen many people talk about is the tutoring scene at the beginning of the movie with oliver and farleigh.
oliver reads his essay and farleigh says he uses thus a lot and talks about how he doesn’t like the style of the paper while oliver then rebuttals by saying the substance is what matters
i think this is a significant scene in setting up the movie for both the characters and the audience. the conversation points out how the catton’s look down upon oliver due to how he presents himself and how this subsequently helps him take control because they’re too busy with aesthetics. as for the audience, I think it sets up a response to reactions to the movie. a lot of people complained it was gross and disturbing because they were once again viewing it at a surface level and being distracted by the “gross” scenes, taking focus away from the brilliance of everything the film sets up.
this scene not only sets up oliver’s obsession with felix through the profs mention of farleigh’s mom but foreshadows oliver’s true cunning nature. it also shows how he will overtake farleigh just as how he gets the last word over him in this conversation.
i will literally do everything but the things i have to do
enough about kaz, jesper literally kills people just for the adrenaline rush
jesper? what about “we could wake them up” wylan
shout out to suzanne collins for normalising, and honestly even romanticising, body hair on girls/women. shout out for writing a lead female character who honestly likes her body hair and is sad when she has it forcibly removed.
shout out for describing it in a pleasant way ("soft, curly down") rather than something unsightly and vaguely embarrassing.
honestly just shout out to suzanne collins
Do you know any good websites or other resources for visualising characters? I’ve tried picrew but most of them don’t have that many options. Thanks in advance!
Hi! I'm afraid that's not my lane. I'm more of a "get pinterest inspo" kinda gal. If someone uses those kinds of tools, please reblog with your recommendations!
art breeder. im so serious. best thing to ever happen to me.
note: I see a lot of people commenting on how hard it is to make “normal” looking people (as most templates are perfect people that don’t exist). you can add features like acne, body weight, birth marks, scars, moles, etc. it’s just not in the default settings so you have to manually add it in
university is just this place where people go to learn they like alcohol and get std’s
horrible news.
you’re going to tell me that they were “best friends” ???
relationships are not a cure. you could get a high at the beginning but it probably won’t last long and you will crash
