Yooo so are you a fanfiction kind of a person? Bc I just wrote smth I am super proud of. It's called Under the Stone Church I think. It is about Father Clarke from Snake Meadow Hill Church descending the staircase to save the twins that the detective saw Miriam Bell drag down there
It's a rip from The Exorcist when Father Merrin goes into a church during a sandstorm to save a person who he initially thought was possessed, but it turns out someone else was the possessed one.
I chose to headcanon father Clarke's first name as Lancaster because that's what Merrin's first name is, although I consider Merrin in the first movie to be a lot more like Allred.
OUUH I need to keep up on the exorcist series.... but I am a fanfiction person !! this sounds pretty neat, honestly, I love seeing faith/exorcist crossovers it works very well ^^

I'm currently reading another book series but I finished the exorcist prologue a little bit ago. I just have to finish this last book and I can head to the exorcist finally. I've watched the original, legion (III), started but didn't finish dominion and have to start beginnings (which I've heard are the same for some reason?)
I also have to watch the heretic (II) because I neglected to, being too impatient to wait to watch legion (and hearing its bad, but hey, I like bad movies sometimes!)
once I finish the exorcist book, I'm gonna find and read the legion book as well :)

I think with the other movies in the series, you need to let go of what The Exorcist really means & accept that you're watching a different genre with a different plot. My blog has a lot of comments on these media, many of which contain spoilers, but I recall complaining that I was less interested in scifi & mystery/cop than I am in religion. It helps if you go in with divorced expectations. It's like if you think of tea as juice, it tastes bad.

watched the exorcist and legion (III) on prime video (w/ additional subscription, unfortunately) but own both movies on DVD currently. dominion, which I assume is the V you're talking about (I heard it's the same as the beginning) is on prime for free but the beginning isn't so when I found it in the wild on DVD I bought it to watch after dominion (as I've started it)
as for prequels for the exorcist book, I don't know much about the book series. I just know the exorcist and legion currently... but I am going to be looking for more books in the series to delve into ^^
oh, and the entire velocipastor movie is on youtube for free! that's where I watched it, but I don't know about the second one..
as for the sci-fi/mystery type stuff, legion (movie) had me HOOKED so quickly. I'm a crime show/mystery fan, so it mixed with religion mixed with returning damien (why I watched it in the first place tbh,,,) ?? right up my alley !! but I didn't really clock that all the movies felt different but it does make sense. I am anticipating watching the others !!
