“I’m glad I could make your day more exciting,” jack answered with a small grin on his features. he was already starting to be glad he had ran into this stranger out of all the possible people in the world–at least this guy was nice. Not everyone would take getting ran into as positively as him. “And I don’t know if you’d call it a ride but, I was on the wind,” he answered, shrugging, “But the wind can be kind of a jerk sometimes, so I was stuck.”
He tilted his head, the curiosity again getting the better of him. “isn’t being made out of straw inconvenient?” he questioned, “but I guess it means falling doesn’t hurt as much. you were pretty much like falling into a pile of leaves. so that’s, uh,” he paused, chuckling a bit awkwardly at his wording, “which is pretty cool, is what i’m trying to say.”
"On the wind?” Charlie repeated. “Are you some kinda bird?” He’d never seen a bird that looked like a person before (or one that was so big), but the world was wide and there were plenty of things outside of Oz he’d never seen before. Or maybe he had invisible wings. “At least you’re unstuck now, right? This wind’s strong today. It does seem like a jerk, now that you say that.”
Being compared to a pile of leaves was oddly complimentary, in this case. “Oh, yeah! Lucky for you. No hard elbows to stab you or anything.” Charlie curved his arms to imitate human joints. “It’s inconvenient, for sure! Straw limbs are clumsy most of the time, and I think my brain’s gone missing?” He tapped the side of his head. “But sometimes it’s cool. Like now.”
