For my non-German followers, you might have guessed, but bad things happened in politics today
The government, lead by Friedrich "Leck Eier" Merz, just announced that there will be changes in health care and worker's rights pertaining to it
Up until now, when you are sick, you tell your employer, and you had to being a doctor's note starting on day 3 (employers could choose to require one sooner though). If you're a known patient at a GP, and you have something mild, like a normal cold, your GP could give you a doctor's over the phone (it's electronic, employer can get it immediately). This means that you don't have to leave the house, don't have to travel, don't have to wait in a waiting room. It helped GPs greatly with redicing wait times and generally not being overloaded, as well as prevent spreading diseases
So you might have guessed that the government just decided, against ALL recommendations from doctors and experts, to slash that. Doctor's note required on day one, no more telephone, only in patient
Doctors are LIVID, and so are us normal people. It's just not feasible or even possible to even get an appointment on day one in many cases. You are forced to travel, often forced to drive a car (it takes me almost 30 minutes) when you might not be fit to do so. Waiting rooms will be PACKED, diseases will spread, doctors will be overloaded
Politicians are so fucking out of touch. They never worked or even lived in the real world, they never sat down in a waiting room for 2 hours. They never lived in the countryside where there aren't doctors at every corner like in major cities maybe
And why did they do it? "People are sick too often". Well, they will be sick a whole lot more now.
