Hey everyone. In case you haven’t seen yet, today Tumblr announced major changes to how reblogging will look and work.

This is obviously a very fundamental change, and although details are obviously very scarce right now, its almost guaranteed that Editable Reblogs in its current form will stop working. Most likely, Tumblr will have changed their code enough to make editing reblogs impossible to do.

And while we can’t say anything for certain before we see what the new code is going to look like, we’ll probably be able to make an extension that hides old reblogs in long chains on your dashboard, and it’s less likely but still possible that we’ll be able to make an extension that restores an old “look” to reblogs.

Unfortunately, unlike Editable Reblogs, neither of these (possible) extensions will be able to change anything for people viewing your blog that don’t have XKit installed. In the worst case scenario, that’s all we’ll be able to do. However we’ll definitely investigate every avenue possible in trying to help you curate your own blog content—something Tumblr seems to have forgotten in their push to “modernize” how reblogs work.

Everything was going as well as it could possibly go. The prince was a pretty little hopping frog and the butler, blinded by his own fantasies painted in glory and power, was about to stick his hands into something big, and he wouldn’t even realize it. Well, on his behalf, Facilier would, and that was enough. Poor Larry was a man with simple desires (reading them and offering his help to fulfill his wishes had been almost too easy for the witchdoctor), he would be content with embodying - quite literally - a charming and soon-to-be rich prince for the rest of his life. That, too, wasn’t an everyday thing, after all.

Facilier’s long gloved fingers adjusted their grip on the stick that supported the mask he’d chosen for the occasion - a too-wide, empty grin on a stark white face. In the dim light of the area, soft shadows made it look a bit disquieting, but it was certainly better than the expression that had appeared on the bokor’s face as soon as he’d arrived at the reception with the false prince. It was something similar to disgust, and the more he observed the oblivious guests dancing and drinking and making small talk, the deeper it became. It basically radiated off them, their wealth, as if they were waving it right in Facilier’s face.

Patience.

The ghostly whisper that his own shadow delivered exclusively to him had an unexpected calming effect. He breathed deeply, glancing around himself. A couple of steps away, Lawrence was twirling with an ecstatic Charlotte La Bouff, who was lost enough in her own fairytale not to notice her Prince Charming’s obvious rigidity, despite his nearly flawless technique. He dipped her with a precise movement and she giggled, her blue eyes sparkling with emotion and her mouth agape. Facilier stifled a snort as he turned away.

Those hours were torture, plain and simple. Time never seemed to pass when one needed it to. He looked around again to check for any possible disturbance - no errors would be tolerated in such a finely calculated plan - and that was when he spotted her. The first thought that crossed the witchdoctor’s mind was— how hadn’t he noticed her before? The second— what exactly made him approach her? Neither question seemed to be able to be answered right away. Facilier was too busy mentally cursing himself and whatever it was that, as usual, had made him break the rules he himself had set.

For such a large party, it was rather too boring. Everyone seemed so simply and cheerful, in their gaudy masks and bright ball-gowns. These Americans were all so infuriatingly happy - Charlotte’s smile was so bright it made her eyes hurt. Cruella, standing to one side with her cigarette in one hand and her other hand wrapped around a tall glass, didn’t bother to stifle a yawn as she watched the dancing. For a moment, she wondered why she had bothered turning up at all.

But then again, she reminded herself, she should be seen here. It was just the right mix of royalty and excessive wealth that made it quite the most important party one could attend all month. 

If only it were a little more exciting.

As if on cue, Cruella; always sensitive to attention; felt a pair of eyes linger upon her. They moved towards her, and she turned towards him gracefully, allowing herself to cast a brief admiring gaze over his appearance. The stark whiteness of his mask against his dark tail coat cut an elegant figure and she smiled slightly as permission for him to approach further.

He had an intensity that this party was quite lacking, and she felt a great appreciation for his existence that moment. Her expression was unreadable as she took a long drag from her cigarette, swapped hands, blew green smoke into his face and offered him her hand.

“Delighted,” she murmured, her voice unusually husky and dark. “For a moment I worried this party would bore me to death.”

Elevator Incident // Stitch

Cruella had always thought elevators a marvellous invention. They made it so much easier to wear heels at all occasions, even when you had business on the 25th floor of a tower. So when she spotted one at her lawyer’s office, she nodded in approval and wasted no time in stepping through its oak effect doors. As boring as this meeting would undoubtedly be, at least her feet would remain comfortable. 

However, the last thing she expected was for a small blue creature to step through the doors after her, as if it had any right to be there. She felt her breath catch in her throat. All of a sudden the elevator felt far less like a convenient method of travel, and a lot more like a trap closing in around her by the second. 

The doors slid shut with a faint hiss, as if it were laughing at her panic. Contemplating methods of escape, she peered round wildly, searching for any escape route. Breathing easily seemed an impossible task as she noticed the beast had claws, and eerily large eyes. 

“Blast! Any way out, any way out at all!” It was unclear whether Cruella was cursing or praying. It was likely she herself didn't know either.

Globetrotting // Mirage

If it weren’t for the fashion, Cruella would never set foot in France. Nothing about it appealed, and it certainly didn’t accommodate her unusual ways. The cars and their drivers were not fast enough, nor daring enough to get her anywhere on time; the food was too creamy and altogether lacking in pepper; and the people were disgracefully rude. While there was irony there, Cruella could not see it.

However, the fashion alone could tempt the heiress, and bring her, scowling, to a place she professed to hate. Paris. As she slid critically through the elegant boutiques, she idly wished for France to come to her, not that other way around. It was awfully vulgar, having to pace through these horrible streets, but it would all be worth it for the right item. 

Turning into another tiny boutique, its walls black as tar, she perked up, her interest caught. The rails hung with dresses of black and gold, lines of beads of jewels trailing down the shelves and hanging from the necklines of dresses. This was the kind Cruella was hunting for.

Charity - the Most Excellent of Virtues // Open

The house was a large specimen just south of the river, a factor which undoubtedly brought down the value of an otherwise grand property. Cruella’s driver had been visibly shocked when he spotted the SW postcode on the address, but by now he knew better than to question her. 

Just as well really, for her spirits were even more highly strung than usual. It was said she didn’t have a heart to set upon things, but however poetic, it was not quite true. As she walked through the large open doorway, she pulled her ever present coat closer around herself, and glared at a few nearby people. This house was holding an auction, for some kind of pathetic charity, and unimportant guests and minor figures of note milled around the entrance hall. 

Normally, Cruella wouldn’t be seen dead at an auction, a servant could be trusted to pick up her items, but this was no ordinary occasion. There was a single item here which she meant to have - and when Cruella wanted something, she would get it.

It was not exactly picturesque, but then Grimhilde’s idea of picturesque was somewhat different and shifted between rolling landscapes and forests full of prey to a family homestead that was not even her own but was always full of…

Morrigan raised her head at some sort of groaning sound outside. “It’s a car” she announced loudly. “Horribly neglected, but a car all the same. Heavens knows what state the engine is in”. She leant forward but changed her mind as her knee brushed against the coffee table and immediately became grey with dust. Grimacing, she emptied her pockets onto the carpet until she managed to find a handkerchief to wipe away the grime. 

She looked up as the door swung open. Cruella certainly liked a good entrance, Morrigan admired that about her. She quickly schooled her expression into neutral as Cruella sat down in a sea of dust, and managed to contain her horror at the thought of being served tea in cups as bacteria-ridden as the table. It made her feel quite faint. The next time we meet up she thought bitterly we’re meeting at my palace. At least I have staff.

“So, Cruella, Grimhilde” Morrigan smiled warmly at the other women, “how are you both? Been up to anything fun lately?”

Grimhilde had perched herself on the edge of a table, not trusting an inch of the furnishings not to be a breeding ground for fleas, rodents, dust, dust mites, ancient civilisations of bacteria and other microbes. Queen Morrigan was better known to her than Cruella, though of course she had heard of both women and had been intrigued at a meeting of like minds. 

Not to mention it was pleasant to spend time with her equals - at least in Morrigan’s case. 

“I have started the process of acquiring both heir and apprentice,” she said calmly, tracing a curious finger through a layer of something on the couch and brushing the substance into a vial for later experimentation. “Apart from this I remain in search for my - irritatingly elusive - stepdaughter.”

Morrigan nodded in sympathy. She knew all about searching for people who did not want to be found. “Elusive ones are the worst” she added. “You search high and low and all the while you get that feeling that they’re sitting in a tree somewhere laughing. But that’s children for you. No manners”.

Her frown lifted as she glanced at the other two women. It was nice to be in this sort of company, the right sort of company, she mused. Even if she would have to get a tetanus shot the moment she left this hovel. “An heir, hmmm? That sounds interesting. My husband and I never had children. Rotten little things”. She turned to Cruella and continued, “And what about you dear? How are you? I must say, I do like your coat. It’s very…authentic”.

Cruella listened with an interest only slightly distracted by the oppressive presence she felt in this house. It did make a difference, having company here, and she decided it would be worth opening the house up to a greater extent. With invited guests only of course. 

She gave a surprised bark of laughter as Morrigan turned to her. “Oh dear me, children! I don’t think so, they’re hardly conducive to a fashionable lifestyle! But really life is marvellous, I cannot complain!”

She beamed as the conversation turned to her coat and she fluffed up the corners like a proud cat. “I do like finding special coats, and they do keep one so warm. I could get you one if you like?” As she said this, a tiny old woman came in bearing a large ornate tea tray. She murmured a question to Cruella who gestured wildly at the tables in the room, muttering “anywhere, anywhere, blast it, does it matter!” 

Without another word, the woman seemed to shrink further and she placed it on a sturdy looking long table and pushed it towards the circle of women.

London, and Cruella’s day, had been perfectly predictable until she walked into Browns and saw a girl standing there in a hideously yellow coat. This piqued Cruella’s curiosity, for she immediately felt the girl had to be either incredibly brave or incredibly stupid.

She hadn’t seen so much as a scrap of yellow for almost two years. Patterns had been everywhere this season, mostly in black and white, with a few blues. However, with summer well and truly begun, something had to change and finally Cruella had found it. 

Stalking over to stand beside the girl, she peered over her shoulder. “Oh darling, yellow again?” she exclaimed loudly, looking slightly horrified. “I just knew bold colours were coming back in, but you needn’t go that far!

Her own coat of marten was draped around her delicate frame with a simple white satin dress underneath. Though it was the middle of the day, she shivered and pulled the coat closer to her. She knew she needed to help this girl - she could be very pretty, with just a bit of guidance…

Whirling around in surprise, Honey actually had to blink up slightly at this woman, the first thing really catching her eye being the half white, half black choice. 

If anything is bold- it’s that hair! the chemist thought guiltily, suddenly upset with herself for judging so quickly. “Yes!” she chirped happily instead. “Yellow is one of my favorite colours! It’s so bright and- “

Honey certainly felt like she wasn’t being listened to as the woman looked her over. Aiko pulled her legs and arms in, suddenly feeling rather judged. “Yellow is a perfectly wonderful colour!” she smiled.

“Dahling!” Cruella held her hand to her heart as if she’d be given a shock. “You don’t mean to tell me you wear yellow no matter the season? Now please, you might be able to get away with it at the present, but come winter, it simply won’t do!” 

The thought of this poor girl wandering around with no idea that she was entirely out of fashion actually softened Cruella’s heart for a moment. She took the girl by the elbow and tried to guide her over to a rack of little black dresses.

“See, these are far more versatile, and they might even offset that coat,” she grimaced faintly, “to make a real impression. You must try one of these.”

Cruella’s head snapped round at the noise, and her eyebrows raised. While her expression was too patronising to be helpful, she was listening which was rather strange for her. 

She stayed perfectly still while the girl was lecturing her. However, if anyone had been watching carefully, her smile grew slowly for every furious word directed at her. By the end, she was leering and seemed almost disappointed that she’d stopped. Lighting her cigarette, she blew green smoke at the mechanic.

“Oh dear, how simply fabulous! My, what big language you are using, mind you don’t get hurt.” Grinning, she went on, “I think you must be confused, I don’t want your help.” 

Now her eyes took on a cold glare, though her smile didn’t move an inch. While the girl’s fury was entertaining, Cruella was not known for her patience. She needed her car fixed and she had come here for that reason, though a little argument always livened things up. “You provide a service here. A service that, if you’re lucky, I will pay for. You’ve made your point marvellously, now, run along and do your job.

Gogo did not move an inch, even when smoke was put in her face. She was not a smoker, but just about everyone in the Black Dragons was. At this point, she was just about immune to its infectious affects. Tightening her fists once more as the woman finished, Gogo willed herself not to punch her in the face. Gogo clenched her jaw harder as she spoke. 

“The thing is lady, my services,” Gogo did air quotes for that part. “require respect in order to function. As the owner of this establishment, I do not take orders from people to the likes of you, no matter what the reward may be. I am not your servant and you should not treat people that way.” 

Her shoulders were now up and eyes pissed off beyond belief. At this point, most normal people would be scared to get hit in the face by the former gang member, but Gogo could sense this was no ordinary person.

Cruella wasn’t observant enough to realise how furious she was making the girl, though even a realisation was unlikely to be enough to change her. At this point, the mechanic’s words held no interest to Cruella. However, she was honestly surprised to hear that this girl was actually the owner of the shop. Surprised enough that she forgot to be mean. At least for a few seconds.

“You mean to tell me you own this entire shop? How marvellous,” her tone suggested the opposite, “but how can you? You’re so young! Surely you can’t do this on your own?”

Quite apart from her age, Cruella could barely believe that this girl wanted to own a dirty old repair shop. After all, it wasn’t good work for a young lady - if she had to work, she should be a secretary or a maid, but the responsibility of owning a shop - it just didn’t seem appropriate.

Lapsing into silence, her face sank into a confused frown.

Words could - almost - not describe how unbelievably excited Honey Lemon was to have made it to London, England. Home of fashion, super cool architecture and shopping… And more fashion. As an early summer present, her parents had paid for their dearest, only daughter to spend two weeks in London- their treat.

As the blonde pulled up the collar of her new, chic mustard coat, she silently thanked her dearest Papi for investing his money so wisely in all that stock market stuff. Honey never paid attention to that stuff, rather she paid attention to more minute details like: Does this coat contain traces of cellulose fiber to keep it so stiff and formal yet so soft and comfy at the same time?

It was really Aiko’s dream to make the absolute perfect clothing line based off her own chemical discoveries, making the clothes both crisp and clean while also being tough and comfy! Honey smiled at this thought as she entered a very high society looking shop, the mannequins in the front window posing most elegantly.

With a gasp, Honey, of course, headed straight for a loose yet form fitting maxi dress all in yellow with a few beads going along the top at the neckline. “Wooooow…” She breathed to herself, testing the softness of the fabric with her delicate hands.

A Mysterious Letter

To a fellow dark heart,

If you’re the recipient of this letter then it means that like me, you’re what many would refer to as a villain, or one who I’ve stated as a dark-hearted one. You’re someone who has quite a lot of ambition in life, but your methods are seen as wrong or evil. I’m here to say there’s nothing wrong with that. You have a talent and it’s one I’d like to have on my side. This is an invitation to join a team I am making. One that the likes of any magical beings or pure-hearted princesses will have never seen. This team will join me on a task that will be the most dangerous thing you have ever done in your life. You may not survive the dangers we will face. If there is any fear or doubt in your mind then I will understand, and you need not take part. Please destroy this letter to make sure it doesn’t find it’s way into the hands of a good person. During early production on The Rescuers (1977), Cruella De Vil was considered for the role of the villain. This idea was quickly abandoned, as Disney was not interested in producing sequels at the time, and Madame Medusa was created.

Trigger Warning: Bad language

Having had enough of this rude woman, GoGo, abandoning her tactics of a calm talk, slammed her tool box on the counter to get the woman’s attention. GoGo switched her gaze to a more venomous as she looked back towards the woman. Replacing her hand on her lip, she began immediatly after the crash: 

“Who exactly do you think you are?” GoGo’s words were full of malice and content, even for only knowing this rude customer for a few moments. “I am not a dog, and I do not take shit from people like you.” Gritting her teeth, GoGo gave the woman a menacing look. 

“If you want people to help you, traditionally you do not treat them like their your bitch or something,” GoGo looked to the ornately dressed woman in disgust and awaited for a response from the character. GoGo had tried to refrain, but she was not one to take this much shit from people and just let them get by with it. If she were with the Black Dragons, they would have beaten her to a pulp by now.

"Okay uh... I admit, I got some concerns," Iago said, still holding up the elegant but unsettling red-feathered boa hanging from the closet. "These ain't parrot feathers, are they? Feathers are ah... real outta season, ya know, a little too last DECADE, and you don't seem like the type'a lady who likes to be last DECADE, are'ya?" The parrot cracked an anxious, but winning smile.

“I thought I had that window properly sealed!” Cruella shrieked, backing away from the parrot sitting by her wardrobe. She faced it fiercely. “I don’t care if you can talk, you’re filthy, out, get out of my house!”

Turning back to the creature in pure stubbornness, she had to add a further comment. “And I shall have you know that feathers are coming back in, a flash of bright colour with an outfit will be perfectly fitting come the autumn. In fact, you do have some magnificent plumage…” Calming down, she approached the bird, with a slightly predatory look on her face.

Well, that got uncomfortable fast. 

Iago dropped the feather boa and whisked himself back to the windowsill with one quick flap. Before he could throw himself out of it and fly wildly into the night to find some other palace-like place to rest until morning, the parrot remembered suddenly that he had been slighted. He turned on the sill to face the woman again, crossing his wings at her with a frown. 

“Hey, hold your horses, lady. I like the upgrade to ‘magnificent plumage’ and all, but didn’t you just call me filthy? Which is it, Madame Skin-and-Bones?”

The bird moved fast. Cruella felt a slight shudder pass through her as its wings flapped near her, but she told herself she wouldn’t flinch.

“You really are a foolish creature, you can be both! Look at you,” she winced, as if feeling ill, “you are an utterly disgusting thing! And yet…” Her gaze lingered on the tips of his wing feathers, and down to the bottom of his tail. “Those feathers are positively marvellous! It really is a shame they are wasted on you.”

She seemed genuinely saddened by that prospect. But that emotion passed just as quickly as the others, and her expression drew back into a frown at the unwelcome visitor.

This time, it was Iago’s turn to give a shudder, feeling the slim woman giving him a once-over. She wasn’t looking at his ‘magnificent plumage’ with the eye of an admirer, but with the hungry gaze of a wolf. Any birdbrain could see she wasn’t the safest option for an overnight stay – but where the heck else was he supposed to go? Outside again to get eaten by real wolves?

Better to take a risk for safety, than get plucked for sure. Jafar didn’t raise a fool.

Giving a huff, Iago hopped backward off the sill and into the cold night air, flapping his wings to stay aloft at the woman’s eye level, without quite flying away yet.

“Yeesh, Norma Desperate! You can keep your feather boas and your fancy warm house! It’s lookin’ pretty shabby anyway, like your hairdo! When in the heck did that go into fashion?”

Petty as can be (for Jafar trained him that way, too), Iago turned tail and flapped away. There were plenty of other chumps to bother, without risking his tail feathers for it!

Cruella’s eyes narrowed as she watched the bird fly away. That window really needed looking at, she thought to herself, if any old creature could get in. 

If that parrot turned up again, she vowed, he would find himself the newest addition to her wardrobe.
