Character’s greatest joy in life: Writing
Character’s greatest fear: Losing his twin brother
Why?: His brother is his other half, he doesn't remember life without him because there never has been one. He can't envision a future without Lagan. He won't.
What single event would most throw this character’s life into complete turmoil?: If he lost his twin brother, since it would force him to exist in a world he never prepared for. It would force him to accept he can't keep people alive by clinging to them. If he ever lost Lagan, it would change him.
Character is most at ease when: He's writing or riding around the Sumps on his hoverboard.
Most ill at ease when: He's in Piltover or in the vicinity of enforcers.
Enraged when: Someone harms a child near him, or someone he views as defenceless or innocent.

Why?: Fathom is very proud of his home and his people, even if his family was from the Serpent Isles, he is a Zaunite through and through and nobody could make him ashamed of that. He wants nothing but to see his home flourish, he knows they're amazing, and wishes Piltover could see it too.

Why?: Fathom likes to present himself as aloof and indifferent to life, however he fails greatly as he's the most passionate person in his social circle. He knows he's supposed to hate Ali, but his crush on the other man only got worse after he saved him from falling and most definitely dying. It would put his and Ali's reputation on the line if anyone found out how much of a catalyst that moment was.
Character’s darkest secret: His exxtremely violent intrusive thoughts, they scare him and he's convinced it makes him a bad person.
Does anyone else know?: Lagan does.
GOALS
Drives and motivations: Peace, children, the future of Zaun, his family, his love interests.
Immediate goals: Control more of the Sump with his gang, hide his relationships. stay alive.
Long term goals: Reunite Zaun, breathe fresh air.
How the character plans to accomplish these goals: Fathom isn't the main planner when it comes to Zaun's future, but one day he knows he WILL have an audience in Piltover. He will show those good-for0nothing sods that he is worthy of life, that Zaun is worthy of life, no matter how terrible they all seem. The people of Zaun deserve to breathe.
How other characters will be affected: Who knows?
PAST
Hometown: Sump Level, Zaun
Type of childhood: Rough and neglectful. He was born, with Lagan, to his mother Serexie, a siren from the Serpent Isles and his father Flotsam Angueille, a Shapeshifter from Bilgewater. He already had an older brother, Derelict, who was around two when he was born. He was born in the fall, when the air was at it's worse and the cold sunk into the fissures like a curse. His mother died when he was four, and his father was a violent drunk who took his anger out on Fathom and his brothers. The scar on his lip was the result of one of his father's rings catching his face when he was getting a beaten. Derelict had to sew the wound shut and Fathom yelled and cried. When he escaped, via Derelict running away with them, his life became one of survival. He had to eat scraps and bugs, dig in the trash and pipes for things to sell, and watch his brother get hooked on Shimmer to ease the pain. He escaped one addict, only to live with another. They were under constant threat from enforcers, starvation, drug rings, child-trafficking rings, it was a mess. His lungs are permanently scarred from his environment, and he developed a worsening smoking habit around the age of ten or eleven.
Pets: He used to feed stray cats
First memory: His first memory is cloudy, but he distictly remembers watching Lagan standing against the couch, reaching towards a mobile nearby with stars danging from frayed string. The toy was crude, hand painted, and his brother's chubby little hand had clasped around one of the strings.
Most important childhood memory: His most important memory is seared into his eyelids, and he swears he still sees it every time he goes to sleep. He had been six, still living with his father and allowed to finally roam alone. His mother had died a few months prior, and he was bringing small keepsakes to her grave, which was a far bit aways from home. He had run into enforcers, and had been to little to outrun them. They stole all his keepsakes, beating him into the ground and making him taste the sooty earth. They had called him "Zaunite", in the filthiest way possible, spitting the word like it was venomous. Fathom will never forget that, for as long as he lives.
Why: This was a pivotal moment for how he viewed himself and his oppressors. As a child, Piltover seemed like something unimportant, a distant fear that wasn't his most important tormentor. He gad explained, in his tiny voice, why he was running snd where he was going, but it hadn't mattered. The enforcers couldn't see his humanity, and he learned that they never would. It was, in a way, what radicalized him before he knew what radicalized meant.
Childhood hero: His twin brother has always been his hero, Lagan is more reckless and outgoing, fearless and a leader. Fathom has always existed (mostly) contently in his shadow, watching his brother command the attention of everyone, like the stars.
Dream job: Teacher, he'd love to educate people. He loves the way kids think, and has so much experience, his lessons would be invaluable.
Education: Middle school equivalent, though it's complicated since Zaun has no schools.

Old Hungry looked more imposing in person than Fathom imagined it would. The large metal heart of Old Zaun seemed to creak in the wind, moaning and groaning on metal beams. Lagan, his older twin, had already begun climbing, scaling the side of the clock their older brother Derelict had told them about. Fathom had hesitated, still standing on the rough gravel at the very bottom. Every snipe in Zaun climbed Old Hungry when they got old enough, it went through every level, and peeked out in Piltover as well. Fathom couldn't spot the top from the Sump level, there were too many layers of green haze.
He was just about that age, his and Lagan's thirteenth name day was tomorrow, and the enforcers weren't as active today, which made it perfect for climbing and other illegal things.
"Fathom!" his brother yelled down from a several metres up, voice cutting through Old Hungry's melody. "Move your fuckin' ass!"
"Sorry!" Fathom all but yelped, scrambling up the path Lagan had taken. He wedged his fingers into the grooves in the metal, climbing up the support beams as the stagnant, sump air moved around him.
"The Crocs'll beat us!" Lagan called back down over his shoulder, and Fathom looked up to see the shrinking forms of three other boys.
The Crocs were their enemies, or at least they were supposed to be. They fought over good territory spots all the time, pipes for hang outs, alleyways, stores, market sections, anything resulted in beating the Janna-loving shit out of each other. Fathom was no good at fighting, he always got too distracted and got his ass handed to him. As if to remind him, his ribs ached persistently as he hauled himself onto another beam.
Fathom clambered behind Lagan as the old clock groaned under their weight, above them the taunting laughs of the Crocs echoed down.
"You slow asses!" called down thre biggest, Scales. Fathom was surprised his dumb ass hadn't fallen off the clock.
"Gob it!" Lagan hissed back, eyes narrowing as he beckoned Fathom onward. Lagan hated Scales, the two both liked the same girl and it was fire to their rivalry. Fathom didn't entirely get it, Ginny, the one they liked, was just one girl? Who cares who got her?
He kept his mouth shut though, always had. Fathom was an observer in that regard, and was far more occupied with Scales other brother Ali. The older Croc boys were triplets, but Fathom held the opinion that Ali looked the best. As he climbed, he watched Ali haul himself higher and higher, barely stopping to help his brothers or return any insults Lagan threw their way.
Fathom's limbs ached as they continued towards Uptown, the structure getting less and less stable as they went. In the Entresol level, Fathom could see most of the main part of Zaun stretching out below him. It made him lightheaded in the good way, seeing fractals of light bounce off intricate framework and grimy stained glass nearly took his breath away. Wind whipped around him, carrying the cleaner air from up above. Fathom's lungs expanded gratefully, taking in mouthfuls of air that was far cleaner than he was used to.
By now, the five boys were at the same point at the tower. Ali was using his tail to balance on a thin part of wires and beams, Scales was standing nearby with wobbling legs, and the smallest triplet, Gage, was grabbing onto Scales with a vice grip, keeping himself up. Lagan and Fathom hung a bit below them. They were all too tired to race, with the exception of Scales, who looked frustrated that they'd stopped.
"We ain't gonna make it in time for sundown!" he grumbled, shifting and nearly knocking Gage off the beam.
Old Hungry sung around them, old metal bones creaking and swaying under foot. Fathom continued on, still racing along with Lagan, even if his footing felt unsteady. and his arms trembled with exhaustion. Soon they were leaving Zaun behind in a mess of Gray and grime, nearing the only part of Old Hungry where they could see the sun.
Fathom chanced a look downwards, his home stretched on almost endlessly, gleaming in the orange light from above. The commercial district glittered nearby, and Fathom could almost see Zaun's richest mingling with Pilties. The landscape was a mess of greens and darker colours, swirling together with a few pops of neon from signs. He wondered if Derelict was at one of the shimmer brothels, or maybe the gang was still lurking on the lower levels. The Cage, a nickname for the massive cathedral at the border, glimmered ominously, stained glass windows casting multi-coloured light in his eyes. He inhaled again, tasting fresher air and some sort of food. It was all so beautiful.
"Quit daydreaming!" Lagan's voice snapped above him, and so he carried on.
The top of Old Hungry wrapped around the face of the clock like a balcony, with most of the wrought-iron bars lost over the years, their were few opportunities to get a good grip. Much to Lagan's seething rage, Fathom could see the Croc had infact beat them, with Scales standing triumphantly on the balcony, smirking down at them. "Bet Ginny'll be impressed with me." He smirked cruelly, stepping back away from the edge.
"You sump-sucking bastard!" Lagan growled, hauling himself up onto the balcony behind the other two triplets. One of the few remaining bars broke off, dangling by old welding and nearly smacking Fathom in the head.
Lagan advanced towards him, and out of Fathom's view. He had lagged behind, and Old Hungry groaned dangerously with the start of a scrap.
Fathom swore quietly to himself. eyes downwards as he shakily got closer. He'd have to maneuver himself to grab the railing, or maybe risk the broken bar? He wedged his toes between the workings of Old Hungry, trying not to look down again.
His hand shot out quickly, trying to grab the cool metal of the railing Lagan had jumped over, and all it took was a second to miss. His fist closed around air, and with another yelp he felt himself tilt backwards.
"Guys!" he yelled towards the fighting teenager, eyes screwing shut instictively as he felt some wind rush by him. 'This is it,' he thought, 'I'm gonna die falling off Janna-forsaken Old Hungry.'
A warm hand clasped around his forearm, holding him as his legs splayed uselessly under him, dangling in the wind. Fathom opened his eyes, expecting to see his twin's panicked face looking back at him.
Instead he saw Ali, the other boy's eyes wide as he strained against the railing. He was gripping Fathom so fiercely it hurt, and for a long time Fathom didn't move, staring up into his eyes. They looked like Zaun at night.

Harry hit the stone wall with a sickening crack, catching himself with a shuddering arm as he tried not to sway. Two sounds happened at once, an amused cackle and a terrified whimper as his head spun and his world tilted off kilter. He gritted his bloody teeth, shoving himself upright to face his opponent. The familiar, crazed grin on Scales Croc's face stared back at him, and the taller man beckoned him forward.
"You hadda 'nough?" he laughed, tilting his head as he shifted his weight from side to side.
Harry swung with the small amount of adrenaline still in his system, though his fist didn't connect with Scales' smug-ass face.
The other man had caught it, and the other that had weakly attempted to save Harry's honour. Scales' grin widened as he hauled Harry in closer, he could almost count the chem-baron's fangs. "Good to have you back, Hook!" he crowed, reeling his head back and knocking it right into Harry's.
He slumped to the ground with a groan as a distant voice called out in alarm.
Ah Zaun, he missed you.
Blows the dust off of this blog
Hello hello! Expect a lot of content very soon!
I'm so excited to figure out different dynamics in this au that mirror arcane's, though I do already have one!
Magnus Mim is Silco.
I hope this doesn't offend any of my mutuals, but I just thought I'd make a post just incase-
Hazbin Hotel/Helluva Boss makes me really uncomfortable, and I'd like if that media wasn't talked about to me.
I'll be posting this on all my blogs.
???:
Aliases/Nicknames: The Dagger, Dagger
Age: Estimated to be 20-23
Birthday: Unknown
Ethnicity/Nationality: Unknown, assumed Zaunite
Species: Human
Description: Sly, evasive, calculating, unassuming, level-headed, snarky
Dagger has been spotted around Zaun at various places of illegal trade/business. Authorities haven't been able to identify him legally, and only know he's called Dagger from eavesdropping on the conversations about suspects matching him. He's assumed to be a young adult, and Zaunite, but nobody's very sure. He's had affiliations with several Chem-Barons, but his identity still remains shaky.
Also, I've always felt Vi is very Harriet coded
You're so right, she definitely is...
Ough the ideas are forming. /pos
!!!!!!!!! DESCENDANTS ARCANE AU WHAT?!!!!! /POS AAAAAAA I'm so normal about this, totally not weird at all (seriously, tho, i love this concept)
Do we get angsty siblings on here too?
Hello hello!
And ABSOLUTELY WE DO!! What's an arcane/descendants au without angsty siblings?
I'm so happy other people enjoy my idea! I'm still fleshing things out, but I've got so many plans!
The tavern was filled with the low murmuring of different voices over the clinking of cutlery. Tables were crowded with different figures, some old and most young as they chatted over various Zaunite dishes. The bell at the front door rang rather aggressively as a small group of enforcers stormed in, their guns visible. Noise in the tavern halted all at once, eyes locked onto the couple of oppressors that arrived unannounced.
Working at the counter was a young lady, dark skin warmed by the lantern light and teal braids piled high on her head out of her way. "What?" she asked them rather rudely, not pleased they'd interrupted her business.
"We're looking for Uma."
