ppl put rimuru in all kinds of identities as they enjoy mashing together characters to kiss and aint nothing wrong with that, but i do enjoy the reading of him as agender asexual aromantic.
like he is routinely considered incredibly beautiful both as a man and a woman but his preferred form is Ball. he is surrounded by people who love and adore him, several carnally, and he is actively dodging out of the way of that.
he loves everyone and is very protective and adores them but the fact is if he had any actual desire for sex or romantic love he could find it with incredible ease, and he does not.
Rimuru himself is one of the biggest strengths of the series, like it would be so easy for it to be just another male power fantasy, but the subtle bits of his character saves it from being so. While he uses male pronouns, he’s also fairly explicitly an a-gendered being, by his own choice. One of the things that truly one me over to this anime was the moment when he first gained the ability to take human form after consuming Shizue. He flips through different expressions of said form including one that looks exactly like a color swapped Shizue and one that is explicitly masculine but settles on the short, androgynous form we all know. That’s what he looks like by choice when he isn’t in his true slime form, which he tellingly never abandons. He canonically had the option of gender and physical sex and just went “nope, no thank you!” Truly iconic.
