I need more serious kung lao art ngl.

Like wdym we have this character here that lives in the shadow of his best friend and everyone including himself has such high expectations of himself due to his descendant The Great Kung Lao, in some timelines he gets killed ultimately not living up to his true potential, we see a GLIMPSE of his self doubt in mk1 after Raiden beat him and he still went out of his way to congratulate him, in almost every universe hes second place, and like.

Kung Lao carried the weight of his legacy since he was little, as the descendant of The Great Kung Lao. Despite his talent and courage hes always seen as "the second", living in Liu Kang's shadow and is constantly being compared to other heroes. He was killed multiple times in diff timelines, manipulated and resurrected by dark forces, and genuinely never had the chance to be recognized for his own accomplishments.

Stuck in a cycle of fighting, dying, coming back, he carries the burden of everything that has happened and the frustration of never being able to be number one. FUCK.

I feel like I missed the opportunity to put a proper TW but this is only mildly suggestive!!! I really entertained myself with this one. I was planning to draw something with my fankids but imo the concept of "life's simple pleasures" being associated with settling down and having kids is a little overused (as if cracking 24/7 isn't overused lol). It's been so long since I made videos so I hope you'll enjoy!

This is heavily inspired by the well known frame from Liu Kang's mk11 ending. I know this doesn't have to be their wedding in particular, but I really wanted to make a reference to the widely loved by liutana fans picture

FINALLY the event has taken place, I've been DYING to post the stuff I prepared. The start as you can see is a little lazy, but I came to the conclusion that fully rendered art pieces for each day would be too much for me to handle, so I altered them with simpler sketches :) The rest will be more interesting I promise!!

So the inspiration for this was Birds by Imagine Dragons, the song I assosiate with liutana and keep in my liutana playlist. The symbolism is pretty clear here I assume

"Real human being, and a real hero". May 2024

Speaking of my stupid habit of getting nostalgic and sad over everything, this piece turns 2 years today. Some may actually remember it, I posted it here on my previous account and it got like 600+ reactions omg. Worse skill doesn't even stop this art from being SO dear to me, I often tend to draw "hehe and haha" stuff, I've been mostly having fun and avoiding seriousness, and this was a rare moment of an actual "emotional message" (though drawn in a very simplified way). My artstyle has changed so much since then which makes me kinda proud but also weirdly melancholic. Knowing how warmly this piece was perceived also serves me as a reminder of what a rewarding experience it is, to share something that's dear to you and receive positive feedback.
