@chershire-saxon
It's my 7 year anniversary on Tumblr 🥳
Men are not inherently violent, predatory, or dangerous. Any feminist project worthy of the name needs to acknowledge that this behavior is taught. The idea of men being biologically predisposed to being abusers or rapists is actively used against abuse and rape survivors / victims (does the phrase “boys will be boys” ring a bell at all to you?) and will never, ever work in our favor.
dont forget anything that says male privilege n oppressive male behavior is biological or innate implies gender is biological or innate. therefore its necessarily transphobic n, when it applies inherent evil 2 being assigned male, inherently transmisogynistic
I was raised mostly by my father and I can tell you that there are learned traits.
Anger and happiness those are natural human emotions. Hate and compassion are taught.
You have to be taught to hate someone. You have to be taught to feel certain emotions.
If you grew up around a man that hated women or abused women and never had a positive female role model you would most likely grow up to have negative emotions towards women.
It's the same way if your mother or aunts is always hating on your dad or male family members unless you have a positive male role model you'll have a negative view of men.
For kids everything truly is about equality.
Personally my mom was an alcoholic, I spent most of my childhood to preteen years taking care of her while she was drunk. She got sober when I was 15 and then left. I've always had issues with any woman of authority. Mostly teachers and counselors.
But I also had 2 aunts that I was super close with and had always treated me with love and respect so my issues weren't big compared to others and were hardly noticeable.
They weren't noticeable till my dad got a girlfriend. That's when my behaviour truly became recognizable .
On top of that I am Bisexual being a female attracted to females while also feeling slightly confused or resentful towards them is exhausting and a bit mindnumbing.
While Everyone should be held accountable for their actions when it comes down to it someone's hate is not inherently them, it's something they were taught and people who don't change usually don't realize what they are doing is wrong because either
A) that personality or learned trait has never been pointed out to them.
B) no one has told them because they don't view it as a bad or flawed trait.
C) they reach an age where teaching yourself to stop doing this specific trait is actually much harder.
The reason that Stiles fans accuse Scott fans of wanting everything to be about Scott, and that Kylo Ren fans accuse Finn fans of trying to make Star Wars about Finn, and that Fans of that creepy doctor chick accused Iris fans of only caring about Iris is very simple.
They do that because it’s what they’re doing.
Stiles fans make everything about Stiles. Even moments that are strictly about Scott and Scott’s relationships with other characters, things that Stiles has nothing to do with(like Derek smiling at Scott) are repurposed for Stiles. Not just for fandom reasons, either, they tried to do this with the actual show.
The reason that Kylo Ren fans HATE Finn is that Finn represents the truth, which is that Kylo Ren is a genocidal fascist murderer, and Finn’s very existence is a threat to their fear of that truth, as he literally represents resistance to tyranny. Finn is a person that Kylo Ren enslaved, abused, and tried to destroy, which just kills them. If they admitted to any of this, they’d have to understand that they’ve been roooting for evil this whole time. Kylo Ren isn’t a redemption arc, it’s about an entitled asshole willing becoming a nightmare for an entire galaxy.
And the reason the anti-Iris contingency is so virulently against her is pretty basically that, from what I’ve seen, they’re white women feeling threatened by the idea of a Beautiful, smart, competent Black girl being the romantic ideal, the end goal for the hero’s love an adoration. That’s not her place, as far as they’re concerned, and they hate her for it. A century ago they were constructing Confederate memorials, half a century ago they were saying that Ruby Bridges should have just gone to her OWN school, and today it’s burning them alive that a Black woman is winning.
It’s this anger that someone other than a white person is daring to exist and be given weight in the fictional and the real world.
Actually, Scott Stans do exactly the same thing, making it all about Scott so why even make this into a post? You’re ALL guilty of it. So stop pointing fingers. Also, I don’t think that a white woman has any right to complain about racism about a black woman when she doesn’t even know what it’s like to be of color. How dare you fill in for others what they think must be because of racism? You’re echoing your own morals and thoughts and mirroring them onto others, which makes you the racist in this particular scenario.
Of course fans of a certain character want everything to be about that certain character, and will focus on the things that are about that a character, regardless of if they are the main character. Why would you put your energy into a character you don’t like as much/at all? Why is this a hard concept for you people to understand?
Personally it has nothing to do with race. Most of the time like The Flash for example i love Danielle Panabaker she's one of the main reasons beside Grant gustin that I watched the show. I like the actress/actor I want to see where her story goes and personally in 4/6 seasons she's the female character whose shown the most interesting story arch and character change. Caitlin Snow is a truly good character and not in a good / evil type thing.
I believe a good character is a real character.
Real characters are human. They make mistakes and have flaws. They make the wrong choices and eventually have to confess to that bad decision. They show guilt, shame and whether or not they can learn and change.
They go through grief and love and happiness. You watch them lie and hate.
Caitlin has dealt with so much just in the first 3 seasons and still came out a strong, independent woman how can you not love her.
I view Stiles the same way. He's been through so much even before finding out Scott was a werewolf.
I am not a big fan of Scott. I understand the teen angst and the love story I do but it's all really hypocritical, selfish and awkward to watch as an adult. When I was 16 I might've understood more but I just don't.
It's also why I can't be mad at Isaac, he was abused and Derek offered him not only a possible family but power and the ability to heal. That power went to his head for the first time in probably 10 years he had the ability to be stronger then others. That didn't really hit him till people were dying, till Erica and Boyd went missing then died and then when Derek chose Cora over him.
I still don't understand why he went to Scott and I'll never understand or agree to that relationship but ... I'm justifying it but I understand what made him act that way.
I just realized something really stupid about “Abomination”. Why does Stiles keep Derek in the deep end of the pool, instead of dragging him to the middle-ish where he could actually stand up and just hold Derek against him standing, rather than tread water for 2 hours?
It’s already established that the Kanima was afraid of water, I don’t think it would matter if that water was 6ft deep or 5ft deep. Especially given the Kanima walks on all fours, so honestly they could have been standing anywhere in the 5-3.5ft depth range.
I know it was for the ~drama~ but also come on, they did not need to do that to Stiles/Dylan, when the shallow end was right there, and I’d bet money the Kanima wouldn’t have gone near it. Because mat, like anyone else who’s drowned, knows there’s no difference between 3 feet deep and 8 feet deep. If he was truly that scared of water that the Kanima would barely touch it, they would have been safe anywhere in the pool so long as they were out of reach.
AHHH THIS SCENE REALLY IS BULLSHIT! @minementis raised a very good point asking if there even was a shallow end; I’m certain that all school pools do, just based on my own experience, but I decided to go looking just to make sure.
AND LOOK WHAT I FOUND
JEFF DAVIS YOU UTTER FOOL. Oh yeah lets torture the skinny teen actor while we film this scene for several hours instead of, I don’t know, using some common sense and writing Stiles pulling Derek towards the shallow end. They wouldn’t even need to be against the edge! They’re tall! They literally only need to be where it’s 5ft deep which is still in the middle of the pool. Which actually would have been even safer than the deep end.
To be completely honest you are probably correct and every school is different. At my high school we had two separate pools, one was a regular 3 to 5ft pool and the other was our dive pool at like 12 ft for water polo.
I don't know or think the pools of Beacon hills were this since their sports were lacrosse and swim. Do it probably is your average 3ft to 6ft pool.
Although alot of things they did to/ for Stiles made no sense. Why did they wait 3 season to tell the Stiles father the Sheriff about Werewolves when Melissa and Chris both knew season 1/2 .
They put Stiles and his father's relationship through the ringer. Plus all the drama with Isaac. Although Teen Wolf isn't exactly police accurate exactly

Summary: After Nora’s motive was revealed Barry has a hard time dealing with the ugly truth and you come to his aid
~~~~~~
“It doesn’t bother you that she was working with thawne.” Barry states with tears in his eyes as he looked at who he thought would understand him the most, Iris.
“No. It doesn’t” She confirms
“maybe if he killed your mother in front of you you’d feel different.”
Barry sat on the steps in the training room alone, thinking about the argument he and Iris had yesterday. Out of all people his own daughter was working with the murderer who killed his mom.
“Hey.” You say softly, alerting him that you were there. You walk over and sit next to him on the steps and rub his back.
“I know it must be hard for you...to deal with something like this.” He sighs at your words and rakes his fingers through his hair.
“It was a mistake letting her stay here for so long anyway. The timeline could be ruined by now”
“Barry, this isn’t timeline talk right now. This is about you. I believe if you look at this from a different angle maybe you could find it in yourself to just listen to what Nora has to say”
“I can’t trust her anymore y/n”
“I know but Barry she’s your daughter. Put yourself in her shoes. She never met you in her time because you died and she only knew one person who could teach her how to come here and see you barr. It was thawne and if I remember correctly a certain speedster went back in time to Thawne because he needed help to get faster.” Barry nods a little while listening to you. He hated it when you were right but it was also the reason he loved to ask you about certain things. You’re always there for him whenever he needs you. You drop everything for him.
“All I’m saying is give her a chance to explain herself. Doing the wrong thing for the right reasons is always the case. She just needs a little guidance is all” He turns to you with a look of awe on his face and you smile softly
“What?”
“I-I wish you were her mother” your eyes widen a little before you let out a small chuckle
“You and I both know you don’t mean that. You’ve been in love with Iris your entire life” He scoffs and rolls his eyes. For a second he didn’t say anything else until he grabs your hand and helps you up.
“Where are we going?”
“You’ll see”
—
Barry sets you down on your feet gently and you look around and notice some gadgets from old meta encounters.
“Why are we in the archives?”
He never answers you. He walks to the other side of the room and starts digging through a pile of empty boxes until he pulls out an old wooden jewelry box. He opens it and pulls out a huge stack of paper.
“What is that?”
“Letters. Every single one of them are to you. I wrote them the day before we redid the particle accelerator explosion to get my powers back. I just wrote out how I felt and what I wanted to say to you since the day we met y/n. You have a special place in my heart and I know-“
Barry was surprised when he felt the warmth and softness of your lips against his. He’d always imagine this in his head but the real thing was even better until reality slapped him in the back of the head. He was still married to Iris.
You pull away panting softly, trying to catch your breath. It was silent as the both of you stared into each other’s eyes.
“How about this be our little secret until we figure this crisis thing out? It can stay here in the archives until we have the time to pick up where we left off” you wink at him with a grin on your face before leaving him there standing in shock.
Kurtbastian or The Flash?
Hey everyone I'm thinking of writing a fic. But I can't decide if it's supposed to be Kurtbastian or The Flash. So it's up to you, what would you like more and is there any interest in it at all?
A Modern Fairytale
Prompted by: @kurtbastianlover
“Hi, could you write about the proposal in 5x01 where Kurt would say no to Blaine because of Sebastian? Or something during the shooting at McKinley where Kurt would be inside the school and Sebastian would be outside and worried about him?”
A/N: Fic is based on the first prompt. I hope this is something you’re looking for!
_____________
This is it. This is what all the hushed whispers, excited exchanging of looks were for ever since he landed back into his home town. It was like everyone was in on this big secret - well if you could even call it a secret after being so painfully obvious.
Kurt gingerly took a step down, eyes wide as he took in everything and everyone (and was there a lot of people) as Blaine stared back at him, with such adoration and if Kurt were to scrutinised that look a bit closer, he would have added that there was a hint of smugness into those eyes, as though saying - “I knew you would come back. You’d always come back to me.” And how differently would this story have ended if Kurt saw that look.
Sure Kurt could always claim that he knew the proposal was coming (which he did) but nothing could ever prepare him for the spectacle of events that he just witness. He was barely paying attention to the words coming out of Blaine’s mouth as he brain continues to work in overdrive where it was continuously screaming at him to “Flee! Flee! Flee!” and at the same time begging him to stay put till this entire nightmare was over.
But the moment his eyes flickered to the back of Blaine, where a group of students donned in matching blazers and ties, all but one was watching the scene with smiles and a hint of pride knowing that they were partly the reason why this picture perfect fairytale was unfolding in front of them.
However, as Selena Gomez once said, this is a modern fairytale, no happy ending.
In the middle of Blaine’s heartfelt speech, his eyes caught sight of a particular Warbler, rolling his eyes and shaking his head.
“Will you marry me?” Blaine asked, getting down on one knee, ring box opened to reveal a ring that Kurt couldn’t deny was a beautiful ring.
His heartbeat quickened, mouth dry as he struggled to give an answer. He knew what his answer was going to be the moment he stepped into the hallway, but like this proposal, knowing something doesn’t always make something easier. Kurt licked his lips before taking Blaine’s hands into his, gently pulling the latter up. The room became silent, too silent that it was slowly stifling Kurt.
“I...” Kurt started, voice sounding strangely loud in his ears, “no Blaine, I don’t want to marry you.”
Mouth opened and closed, Blaine struggled to get his words out. “Is this where you say ‘I don’t want to marry you but I need to marry you’ or something across those lines?” Blaine attempted to joke weakly.
Kurt pursed his lips and shook his head, his hands gently closes the ring box, it’s snap echoing in the room. The sound obviously breaking the state of trance the onlookers apparently had and soft murmurings began to fill the room. Blaine stared at the closed box sitting at the palm of his hands and the moment Kurt notices some people approaching the two of them, Kurt decided that this was the perfect time to take a leave.
Not missing how a certain Warbler has left almost immediately Kurt said no, Kurt took off in the direction the Warbler left. He was in no state of rush to find the latter, knowing very well, he’ll catch up with him.
“Thanks for the heads up Bas,” Kurt called out when he finally caught sight of the back of the Warbler in an almost empty parking lot. How he manages to be sure that that was his Warbler, Kurt could never tell.
Sebastian halted mid-step, pausing for a moment as though calculating his next move. Deciding that it wouldn’t do him any good to just leave, Sebastian turned around and waited for Kurt to approach him. He stuffed his hands into his pants’ pocket, watched as Kurt slowly jogged towards him.
“Well, knowing you, I knew a whole surprise proposal by an ex whom you just began to be friends with 2 weeks ago, wouldn’t be your cup of tea,” Sebastian said with a slight shrug.
Kurt carefully studied the boy in front of him, face devoid of any emotions, an air of forced nonchalance surrounding the latter.
“Knowing me, huh,” Kurt repeated, deadpanned “then why did you think I was going to say yes to his proposal?”
Sebastian immediately stiffened at the question. “Well, why didn’t you?” Sebastian shot back, clearly uncomfortable with the current conversation that he was apparently forced to have.
Kurt let out a sigh because he knows how emotionally constipated Sebastian could get. It was a pain in the ass so he decided to save both of them the trouble and closed the gap between them. Kurt carefully placed his arms around Sebastian’s neck, giving the latter plenty of time to push him away.
But when he didn’t, Kurt tiptoed and a placed a soft kiss on Sebastian’s lips. Kurt pulled away, only to rest his forehead against Sebastian’s. This was the closest the two of them have been ever since they reconnected a few months ago and entered the weird territory of ‘are we friend or are we more than that’
“You,” Kurt simply said, “I didn’t say yes because of you.”
And those were the words that somehow magically released the tension that was wounding him up too tightly ever since Blaine asked him to be part of the magical Klaine proposal.
With some kind of proper confirmation of what they are, Sebastian couldn’t the resist the teasing smile that took over his face, “I’m a home wrecker.”
The laugh that came from Kurt was nothing but expected. Sebastian grinned as Kurt threw his head back, shaking his head in amusement. Because of course that’s what Sebastian is going to say after receiving a confession from him. What is Kurt suppose to expect from the exact same person who’s idea of courting and wooing is sending text messages throughout the week which always starts with “where’s today’s drama princess?” Because hell would turn to ice if Sebastian actually decides to ask Kurt directly about his day.
When Kurt finally stopped laughing, Sebastian smiled softly at the boy before closing the gap between their lips once more. And if Sebastian just so happen to see Blaine approaching the carpark and was a short distance from spotting them, could you really blame him for making it known that he was the reason why Kurt declined Blaine’s proposal?
❤️❤️
Well, this was bound to happen sooner or later.
Me: ok I’m gonna follow the Kurtbastian tag
Read here!
I read this it was awesome, I'm hoping for like an entire story.
📌 Look at this... https://pin.it/halwuhzccqoots
It costs zero dollars to let people enjoy things and not be constantly vocally negative
Everyone always wants to talk about Hook or Pan. Everyone always wants to debate which one is good and which is evil - who we’re supposed to follow and who we aren’t. The Peter Pan mythos has pretty much shrunk down to nothing but Hook and Pan (Hook, SyFy’s Neverland, Pan, OUAT, etc). Occasionally Tinkerbell factors in (Hook, Disney’s Tinkerbell, OUAT, etc). There’s one character, however, that always gets sidelined - which is puzzling since they are the main character of both the play and the book. That character is, of course, Wendy Darling.
Peter Pan is Wendy’s coming of age story. Wendy who decides to run away from home. Wendy who realizes that she must grow up - and that there’s no shame in that. Wendy who sees Peter as deficient and sees Hook as empty and decides that, no, she doesn’t want to be a part of that. Wendy gets the adventure she’s always wanted and she turns away because she realizes that it’s lacking. She’s the only one who truly sees the hollowness of being young forever. Barrie even says “You need not be sorry for her. She was one of the kind that likes to grow up. In the end she grew up of her own free will a day quicker than other girls.”
People always debate on who the hero is. When they learn that Peter could be horrid they assume it has to be Hook. Of course, the answer is that neither of them are the hero. Wendy is the hero of the story. You’re not supposed to be like Peter, who kept every good and bad aspects of being a child and can’t tell right from wrong. You’re not supposed to be Hook, either. He let go of everything childish and loving about him and became bitter and evil. They’re both the extreme ends of the scale. You’re supposed to fall in the middle, to hold onto the things about childhood that make it beautiful - the wonder, the imagination, the innocence - while still growing up and learning morality and responsibility. You’re not supposed to be Hook. You’re not supposed to be Peter Pan.
You’re supposed to be Wendy Darling.
“God, you’ve been in there for like two hours, what do you even do?” Stiles groused when Mitch came back to their shared room, toweling off his hair.
“Fuck off, I was taking a bath.”
“For two hours?” Mitch threw his towel at Stiles head. Unfortunately, it didn’t carry the same satisfying weight as a book. Stiles yanked it off his head and stuck his tongue out at him.
“What are you watching?” Mitch vaguely recognized the song that was playing, but he couldn’t see Stiles’ laptop screen to tell what it was from.
“The Witcher.” Mitch dropped down on his bed and picked up a book to read, but he couldn’t focus; Stiles was too distracting. He glanced over furtively, saw Stiles’ eyes glued to his screen, and started singing along under his breath.
“Toss a coin to your Witcher….” Stiles’ eyes began to droop as Mitch’s voice wrapped around him. He swayed, dazed.
“You have a pretty voice,” Stiles mumbled, then fell back on his bed, passed out cold. Mitch continued singing until the end of the song to be certain Stiles was fully unconscious, then got up to turn off Stiles’ laptop.
Finally, some damn quiet. Sometimes being half-siren really paid off.
“Fuck!” Mitch slipped down into the water runoff as the rain soaked his clothes and seeped into his skin. There was nothing he could do to stop the transformation, and no way for him to drag himself out of the ditch. The storm was too heavy; he would never be able to get dry enough to regain his legs.
His jeans were destroyed, washed away by the stream, taking his phone with it. Mitch couldn’t call for help even if he wanted, not that he had anyone he could call. Mom is going to kill me.
There were too many cars passing on the road for Mitch to remain where he was. The rain was heavy, but it would only take one person looking over the edge and seeing him for him to end up in some government black site getting vivisected. Mitch has seen enough movies—thanks to Stiles’ morbid sense of entertainment—to know what to expect. Even though it disgusted him to do so, he pulled himself deeper into the water and dove under.
It was filthy like sludge where it passed through his gills, making him cough. Nothing like the clean salt-water of his home. The murky water was hard to navigate, and Mitch had to ignore the trash floating by. He needed to find his phone.
The device was protected by an otter box so it would survive the water, but Mitch could barely see twelve inches in front of his face, let alone what might be hiding in the trash-filled bottom of the runoff ditch. For all he knew, a catfish had already eaten it. Do catfish live in these things? It was big enough that some could, about the size of a soccer field. And those fuckers would eat just about anything.
Miraculously, after what had to be an hour of searching, digging his hands through the disgusting floor of the ditch, Mitch managed to find his phone. Clutching it, he swam back to the surface and gulped in sweet, clean air, and coughed up murky water. God, he could feel the grit stuck in his gills. It was almost as bad as the time he got caught in an oil spill when he was seven.
Mitch rubbed his gills with one hand, having to fight the urge to scratch that particularly infuriating itch. He’d have to wait until he got back to school to properly clean them. With his other hand Mitch clicked on his phone and stared at his contact list. He really, really didn’t want to do this—and he knew his mother really would kill him for it—but he had no other choice.
Mitch pulled up Stiles’ contact and hit ‘call’.
***
Stiles scowled at his phone and picked it up. “Dude, where the hell are you?” he asked by way of greeting. “It’s almost curfew and I can only cover for you for so long!”
“I need help. I got stuck in a fucking drainage ditch.”
“Just climb out!”
“Don’t you think I would have? I need you to come get me.” Mitch paused, the silence heavy. “Bring towels. And some clothes.”
“Dude, what were you even doing down there?”
“I slipped. Just hurry up, I’ll explain later.”
“Fine, fine, I’m coming. But you owe me!”
“Whatever, I don’t care!” Mitch hung up, and several seconds later Stiles received a text; Mitch pinned his location and sent it. Stiles grabbed his keys and headed out.
***
This wasn’t going to go well. Mitch already knew that. Stiles was prone to freaking out over everything, and he’d be lucky if his roommate managed to keep his mouth shut for even a day once he found out about Mitch’s scaly secret. Sure he could compel him not to talk, but Mitch couldn’t be around him all hours of the day, and it would eventually wear off.
“I should’ve stayed home,” Mitch groaned, glaring up at the stormy sky. He was sitting at the edge of the ditch with just his tail in the water to keep it hidden. At least the rain cleaned his skin somewhat, but he still smelled like stagnant water. Disgusting.
Stiles’ rickety old jeep pulled off the road and Stiles got out. “Tell me again why you couldn’t just get out on your own?” Stiles asked, looking down into the ditch. It was a maybe fifteen foot incline, and not so steep that climbing out would be impossible. He wouldn’t even need to use his hands.
“I broke my ankle,” Mitch lied. He didn’t even try to sound convincing. “Come help me out.” Stiles groaned, but skidded down the incline anyway. He wrapped his arms around Mitch from behind and tried to haul him out, grunting with the effort.
“Why are you so fucking hea—” Stiles dropped Mitch when he pulled him out of the water just enough to see his tail, falling onto his ass and scrambling back. “What the fuck is that!”
“That’s why I need your help! Freak out later, we need to go before someone sees me,” Mitch insisted, flicking his tail irritably.
“You’re a mermaid!”
“Do I look like a woman to you?” Mitch snapped. It was enough to have Stiles go from freaked out to snarking.
“I mean, with that hair, maybe.”
“Fuck you.”
“Hey, you called me for help, dude!”
“Yeah, but you’re not helping!”
“Because you’re a fucking mermaid! Excuse me, but I need a second to process that!”
“Time’s up,” Mitch said flatly. Stiles gave him a shrewd look, but cautiously stood back up and approached again.
“Don’t do anything weird,” Stiles mumbled, wrapping his arms around Mitch again.
“What do you think I’m going to do?”
“I don’t know.” It was a struggle to drag Mitch out of the ditch, because there wasn’t much he could do to help. And he was heavy. Mitch tried to push against the ground with his tail, but it really wasn’t meant for that, and all his squirmy just made Stiles drop him. Several times. “For the love of God, stop it, or I’ll leave you here.”
“I’m just trying to help,”
“Stop helping! Jesus.” Stiles was panting from the exertion. “I’m not doing this again. Next time I drop you, that’s it, you can get yourself out.”
“Dick.” Mitch hung there limp, feeling like a bait fish on a hook. They finally reached the top twenty minutes later, where Stiles unceremoniously dropped Mitch on the gravel shoulder, then collapsed down beside him, gasping for breath. “You need to get me in the car before someone sees me,” Mitch insisted, looking around them. It was late, but there was still the occasional car driving by. Mitch was mostly shielded by the car sitting between them in the road, but he didn’t want to take any chances.
“Ugh, you’re so demanding.”
“Sorry that I don’t want to get disected by crazy government scientists like one of your stupid movies!”
“Ugh.” Stiles got up. At least the ground was flat, now. He opened up the back door and picked Mitch up in a bridal carry, then unceremoniously stuffed him into the back seat.
“Don’t touch my tail,” Mitch snapped when Stiles tried to pick it up and shove that in too. Mitch scowled at him and pulled all six feet of scale and muscle in by himself. Stiles slammed the door—almost catching one of his tail fins, bastard—and stormed around to the front.
“Here,” he said, and threw a pile of towels back at Mitch. He started the car but didn’t go anywhere. Mitch mostly ignored him. He stripped out of his wet jacket and shirt, and worked to get himself dried off as fast as he could. It took a few minutes before his tail finally melted back into a pair of legs, only for Stiles to squawk at him, “Are you naked!”
“Why do you think I wanted the clothes, dumbass?” Mitch shimmied into his clothes as best he could with the limited space available. Even without the tail, his legs were long and trying to put on his pants with partially-damp skin was still a struggle.
After he was dried off Mitch got out of the jeep and mopped up the remaining water left on the vinyl seats. A small olive branch. When he climbed into the passenger seat Stiles was staring out the window in shock. “You can’t tell anyone,” he said seriously.
“That you’re a mermaid.” Mitch sighed. That was like calling a zebra a horse; they may look similar, but were in fact not the same thing.
“A siren, actually.” Stiles nodded numbly.
“Cool. Totally. Makes sense.”
“Really?”
“No! None of this makes sense!”
“Let’s just go back to school before we get in trouble for breaking curfew.”
“Oh, that ship has already sailed.”
“I swear to God—”
“It’s a saying, not a joke!” Stiles’ knuckles were white where his hands were clenched around the steering wheel. It was a lot to spring on someone, Mitch would give him that. Stiles finally put his car into gear and pulled back onto the road. After a few minutes of silence, he asked, “Are you even religious? Shouldn’t you pray to, I don’t know, Poseidon or something?”
“I’m not Greek.”
“Sirens are Greek,” Stiles pointed out.
“I’m not,” Mitch testily repeated. “And anyway, my father was Catholic, but I don’t really practice anymore.”
“A Catholic siren, who’d’ve thought.”
