we NEED to reintroduce "cis" to the regular tumblr lexicon. which men get to play in the world cup? which men are used in medicine trials? the world is designed for which men, exactly?
trans men who say transandrophobia isnt real are the same as those gay men who say shit like "im not that kind of gay" "don't worry im normal, not like other gays". they're gonna kill all of us anyway dipshit, stop trying to suck up to the system.
More than 4200 likes & 2200 reblogs.
“But the community isn’t full of transphobes‼️”
@transunity yall still have faith in these soulles motherfuckers? i sure aint. this is barely a community.
"we're all faggots in the eyes of the state" okay but the state recognises different category of "faggot" where one is "idiot womanchildren with delusions of grandeur" and another is "subhuman predators that must be excised from society posthaste" like neither are a great way to treat another human being but can we pleeeeeeease acknowledge the difference here
lmfao the theyfab thinks dickriding the beaddels gonna save their ass from future harassment ✋😭
Oh, I see you didn't enjoy "Bring Her Back"! I see you called it lunatic torture porn. Great. Now, out of curiosity, what do you think all the (your words) disturbing, sickening, suffocating, but ultimately "meaningless" child abuse in this film might be trying to say about the exploitation of children by adults and systems of power? Do we think there's a reason why this film becomes increasingly difficult to watch as children suffer from increasingly demented abuse and mutilation? Do we think the film might be trying to make a point about the vulnerability and oppression of children as a class, especially within the foster care system, by forcing its audience into the position of total helplessness and nihilism that children are forced to occupy? Do we think the "fetishistic/perverse blindness" of the young main character might serve to emphasize the theme of vulnerability? Do we think that the themes of grief might actually serve to emphasize the themes of children's oppression and exploitation, considering that a young girl's corpse is violated and mutilated in the hopes that it will eventually be "better" for her? Do we think maybe you've identified this as grief horror when it is actually perhaps not? Do we think that filmmakers who make horror movies might want to employ horrifying tactics to examine horrifying subjects? Do we think, perhaps, that the reason this "not even scary" horror movie made you flee the theatre in repulsion is because it is, in fact, doing what it was meant to do, and, in fact, you just don't actually like horror movies? Do we think that, just maybe, the reason this "purposeless" movie is making you all feel SO bad is that it actually did have a purpose, which it accomplished, but which you are too blinded by your sense of puritanical morality to recognize? Let's go through these questions together. We can sit back to back in two separate chairs -- you don't have to look at me.
@this-is-adultism okay so. hear me out. this shit is horrifying. beyond words. but at the same time portrays adultism so. fucking. perfectly.
ugh stop letting a few niche micro bloggers on tumblr make you think transfeminism has an issue with antitransmasculinity…wait no don’t look at any other social media site either… no no don’t look at the most popular published transfeminists …. fuck no shit wait don’t look at the coiner of transmisogyny …
it’s not a tumblr issue. it’s not a bluesky issue. it’s not a twitter issue. its not an instagram issue. it’s not a tiktok issue. it’s not a fucking reddit issue. it is on every goddamn site i have looked for community. it is on fucking youtube for christ’s sake. it’s in the literature staples. it’s in the academia. it’s in the in-person community. story after story and story responded to with “this isn’t a wide spread issue it’s just happening in [insert whichever specific place that person was].”
i repeat for what feels like the hundredth time though i think it’s only the fifth: if you do not think an axis of oppression exists then you will without a doubt be perpetuating it.
most transfeminists i have seen over the last three years of observation do not think they can be meaningfully bigoted towards trans men and mascs. they do not think they can meaningfully hurt us. they do not think they need to check their biases. so their biases are going unchecked, and my god is the harm and bigotry abundant.
the problem is fucking everywhere. stop belittling us every time we try to bring it up bc it’s just a [blank] issue. i am going to scream now okay? okay.
LMAO hey what's up i'm one of the old mods from transunity & part of why i left the blog was feeling that our current transunitist theory did not adequately account for racialized experiences. i appreciate you pointing it out and continuing these discussions in my/our absence because i simply do not do discourse publicly anymore (anxiety).
thank you so much!! i really do believe in transunity and want to see it grow and develop as a transfeminist thread of thought. i think the fundamental framework of the three transphobias, and understanding misogyny/misandry/misandrogyny, are really important theoretical contributions for all trans people and for feminism as a whole. If I ever do get around to writing a piece on my transfeminist approach, transunity will definitely feature heavily.
Transunity > transfeminism
I see transunity as an extension of transfeminism, not something in opposition to it. Transunity is born from transfeminism and more broadly the discussion draws greatly from feminist works. I am not about to concede to cissexists that feminism is only for women, and that therefore transfeminism is only for trans women. It's both/and, nor either/or.
Absolutely! However as I already said in the tags, it seems like the current state of transfeminism is too focused on transfeminine people and women, thus theres is little or no space for the rest of us. Whenever I start talking about transandrophobia or exorsexism, I got told Im transmisogymistic. And its NOT “just a few bad apples”.
Also its been a while but if I remember correctly part of why Tranunisity “failed” is because trans women and fems here on tumblr couldnt stand trans men and mascs get to have a voice and talk about their oppression.
A lot of the backlash to transunity did use claims that it was exclusionary to trans women. Its not just a few bad apples, but it's also not all trans women and it's not only trans women. A LOT of trans men are behind the virulent pushback against talking about transandrophobia.
Also, not trying to nitpick, but when you said in the notes "transfeminism focuses only on transwomen and fems" alongside saying "transunity > transfeminism," that read more of a statement on what transfeminism inherently is/does, rather than how it is currently being used, so that shaped how I responded.
I agree that's a problem with the current state of transfeminism, but I think saying "transunity > transfeminism" cedes the grounds of that term rather than encouraging people to see transunity as a better approach to transfeminism. A lot of people already use the term transfeminism to talk about trans men's and nonbinary issues, anyways. I'm just not a fan of treating transunity and transfeminism as opposing choices, or treating transfeminism as synonymous with how trans-divisive feminists use it.
Oh, youre absolutely right, there are quite a few bootlickers and white knights.
When i made that comment i was angry and didnt think youd respond - glad you did but that comment of mine wasnt very well thought out.
While Im happy there are attempts to make transfeminism properly inclusive, it still leaves a bitter taste in my mouth - because the everyday user of that term define it as “trans woman feminism and only that”. But thats my problem I need to work on.
How do you deal with the push back and the bigotry from our very own community?
Totally fair!
I don't know, really. I feel that I am in the right in the stances I take on trans activism and feminism, and that I'm grounded in intersectional feminist theory and also have valid criticisms of how (trans)feminism has approached (or not) certain topics in its history, and I believe that things can change for the better through collective efforts.
The attitudes people have are often frustrating and disheartening, but I don't know. I feel they are in the wrong, while also understanding that a lot of factors go into their worldview and why they have those attitudes, and the only way to combat those attitudes is to present different attitudes, to create different factors that incentivize people to change their perspectives. I try to keep up my own work, understanding what I advocate for and why and always trying to learn more and develop that understanding, and to take notice of how this work positively impacts the world and can help contribute to larger changes in our community, and hopefully society as a whole.
I think this quote from an organizer in Rojava sums up a lot of my feelings, specifically:
But it’s not about your personal feelings in that situation, it’s about the slow process of social change, and acknowledging where a community is, so it can eventually be somewhere else. People feeling heard in a room will maybe slowly change the needle, and that process will make a lasting impact on the community at large. [...] When we’re doing this work, we’re doing it for and with the community, and that’s where your sense of self will come from. That’s where our sense of self should arise from, is from being a part of community and being of service while also honoring yourself and your boundaries.

Transunity > transfeminism
have you seen this post?
pretty shocking claim, isnt it? the kind of claim that should be backed up with evidence, right?
well, I agree. in fact, I spent an hour writing up a long reblog proving that the random user @/tomboyfriends is not and has never been the coiner OR the person who popularized the term "transandrophobia", only for the very same person who asked for proof to instantly block me, making my post disappear for everyone else.
I am not going to just drop that. this is now deliberate misinformation being spread by @daughter-of-sapph0, who I now know for sure knows better.
so this is my own original post, documenting her claims and demands for proof, and the post I wrote giving her just that:
After we lost @transfaguette, someone who was always in my notes with interesting insights and funny little quips, I started to feel beaten down. Then my local community lost Murry Foust and it seems like only the trans men and mascs care. I don’t want to go to Pride this year. I don’t know if I can watch a joyful parade with rainbow glitter and drag queens this year. Sometimes it truly feels like trans men are still left to die in silence just like we have for centuries
hey trans ally it’s genuinely awesome that you’re sharing informative and positive posts about trans women but can i ask a quick question about why the only time you ever share a post including trans men, mascs or non-binary people it’s when they’re being told to shut up and stop making everything about them even when part of a conversation that’s supposed to include them in the first place? i just found it interesting. anyway, i hope you’re also normal about trans women and not just being performative to cover up your exclusionary worldview or anything bc that would suck.
Searching up transandrophobia on someone’s profile is my new penance stare
I lost tons of queer friends and mutuals during the ace discourse. Then they came for the NBs. Then the bisexuals and pans. Then the polyams. Now transmascs & men are on their plates.
FUCK every miserable loser who throws our brothers under the bus.
The fact that you equate anti-transandrophobia with anti-trans man says a lot about you
fellas is it transmisogyny to be against bigotry
Transandrophobia is the unique oppression against trans men for being trans men right? You see the problem?
This is assuming that trans men aren’t only oppressed under the axis of being trans, but also of being a man. Since misandry is not real, transmisandry isn’t real.
I’m not saying transmascs aren’t oppressed, they very much are, but they aren’t oppressed for being men, cuz that isn’t possible.
The word you’re looking for is transphobia, or sometimes misogyny in situations where people call that transandrophobia when it’s directed against trans men.
Transandrophobia is therefore transmisogynistic because it’s 1. implying that all trans people are equally affected by anti-trans hate (or even that trans men are affected more), and 2. the person who came up with this term is a terf
“Transandrophobia is therefore transmisogynistic because it’s 1. implying that all trans people are equally affected by anti-trans hate (or even that trans men are affected more), and 2. the person who came up with this term is a terf”
Oh my god. You don’t have point. You’re just starting shit for no reason
Hilarious how when I make a point you clearly can’t refute you just clam up and show me an annoying spongebob gif
Like idc what you say you just lost the argument
I do. I even have a whole ass blog dedicated to it. :3c
I said dont be a bigot. But you are, in fact, that miserable loser i was talking about.
Now, cope and seethe.
is it feminist to call women miserable losers for pointing out that men are treated better than women? Am I missing the point where doing shit like this is anything other than blatant sexism?
But sure go on, keep convincing us that the transandrophobia movement isn't deeply, deeply transmisogynist and misogynist in general. I'll wait.
This is just baeddelism 2.0 electric boogaloo.
@learn-how-to-love

Tired of being witness to this conversation.
hmm! i wonder who this could possibly be about! certainly not any minority groups that are currently being ganged up on by their communities for no reason!
AND WHO'S FUCKING SURPRISED LOL
