I CAN'T WAIT FOR SEPTEMBER!!!

Cole’s breath hitched as the words echoed in his skull again, sharper than any blade.

“Don’t do anything reckless or selfish, Kai, we can’t afford another disaster. Not again.”

His own voice, stern, almost scolding. hearing it in his dream was like being forced to watch himself throw daggers straight into Kai’s chest. And then, like always, it shifted into the battlefield. The screech. The shadow lunging. Kai’s fire sputtering out.

And then Kai collapsing into his arms again, blood soaking through his hands, his lips trembling with apologies Cole never wanted to hear.

The same scene. The same ending.

Cole jolted awake with a strangled gasp. His chest heaved as if he’d run a marathon, sweat clinging to his brow. For a long moment he just sat there in the dark, wide eyes darting around the room until he realized where he was. His bed. Safe. Alone.

But the space beside him was empty. It had been empty for months.

His shaking hand reached across the sheets anyway, grasping at nothing until it found what he always left there: Kai’s old hoodie. Worn, frayed at the sleeves, faintly carrying that smoky scent of fire and ash that would never quite wash out.

Cole clutched it to his chest, burying his face into the fabric, as if he could breathe life back into it. As if holding onto it hard enough would make Kai appear, grinning that cocky grin and calling him out for being so soft.

But there was only silence.

“Why do I keep seeing it?” Cole whispered into the fabric, voice cracking. “Why can’t I just… remember you happy? Why is it always that day?”

The hoodie gave no answer. His tears soaked into the fabric anyway.

He hated it. hated himself for the last words he’d spoken to Kai before the mission. For every time the dream replayed, hammering the guilt deeper. For every night he woke up clutching what little remained.

Cole curled on his side, the hoodie tight in his arms, like he was holding Kai again. only this time, Kai’s chest didn’t rise, his laugh didn’t rumble, his warmth didn’t seep through.

It was just a hoodie. Just a dream.

And Kai was still gone.

His voice thinned. “...I’m tired, Cole.”

Cole’s fingers fuzzed, his fingers digging into Kai’s wrist as if the pressure could anchor him. He swallowed past the lump in his throat and refused to let the room give in to the silence that threatened to swallow them. “Don’t be. Not now. You get better later, okay? You'll make stupid pancakes, you burn the kitchen again, I’ll complain, I’ll—” His voice cracked on the edge of a sob. “You’ll be here. You’re not allowed to leave me to clean up all the messes on my own.”

Kai’s breath hitched, the air around them seemed to hold its own. He tried to focus on Cole’s face, the line of his jaw, the fierce set of his mouth, and the image steadied him for a moment longer.

“I’m right here,” Kai rasped, each word a fight. 

Cole tightened his arms. He spoke faster now, stumbling through memories like prayers; the first clumsy kiss under a leaking awning, the time they raced each other down the monastery steps and ended up laughing on the grass, the night they stayed up watching the stars and planned nothing at all. Each story was a handhold, something to pull Kai back with.

“You can’t leave,” Cole said finally, quieter than before but carved like a vow. “I won’t let you. You listen to me— don’t you dare. You’re coming back. You’re coming back because you have to. Because you promised me you’d be there for the stupid things. You promised me sunrise pancakes and bad coffee and the worst, loudest snoring, and—” He stopped, the force of that image making his voice falter. 

“You hear me, firecracker? You’re not allowed to quit on me.”

For a few breaths, Kai’s chest rose and fell in ragged little pulls. His fingers found Cole’s and squeezed, a pitiful but real pressure.

“I hear you,” he managed, the words rasping from the bottom of his lungs. “...I love you.” It came out raw and utterly true.

Cole couldn’t help the way the sound shook him. He pressed a rough, fierce kiss to Kai’s forehead, tender, frantic, and whispered, “I love you too. That's why you have to Come back to me.”

Around them the war raged on. The clatter of blades, the cries of the injured. but Cole’s whole universe shrank to the small, bleeding shape in his arms. He refused to let the darkness have him.

"The Assault on Shintaro"

During the game, I did my best to help all the androids, but I would have liked other characters to have been there during the attack, like Hank at least.

But even so, I always made sure to keep the characters and the other NPCs alive.

But then Cole sows doubt in Zane about whether what he's doing is right, even more so when he mentions the times he doubted or thought he was something more than a machine. It was at that moment that Zane witnessed the arrival of the rA9 code into his software. For the first time, he had to decide what to do: remain a machine or do what's right for his people and those who trust him. So Zane lowered his gun and decided to do the right thing: help Cole.

As Kai continued to inspect the area, he suddenly received a signal from his radio. He had taken it with him to find out where each surveillance patrol was located so he could evade them. What he heard on the radio alarmed Kai. Apparently, the military had finally found Shintaro's hideout. Now, a large group of those soldiers was heading there to attack him. Kai asked Nya, Jay, and Lloyd to wait there while he searched for Zane. Geo guided him to where they were and, upon arrival, immediately warned them of the attack on Shintaro. From outside the ship, they could see combat transports and FBI vans arriving. Cole quickly used his LED to warn all of Shintaro's androids to prepare for Shintaro's escape.

Vania, Geo, and Plundar arrived with Cole to warn him that everything was being prepared for Shintaro's escape, but Cole needed more time to cover the escape of all the androids. Vania then revealed that an android had stolen explosives and was on the scene. The plan was to plant the explosives in flammable areas of the ship to create a large explosion and trap the soldiers. Upon reaching the explosives, Cole mentioned that he would be in charge of placing one of them in the ship's main engine to sink it. Kai even offered to plant explosives in some parts of the ship; Zane wanted to accompany him, but Kai asked for help evacuating the androids.

Kai arrived with Nya, Jay, and Lloyd and ordered them to leave the area immediately while he planted some explosives. Immediately, all the soldiers entered the ship and didn't hesitate to shoot every android they saw. Some androids defended themselves with their weapons. Kai didn't hesitate to shoot them either. Zane even covered the androids' retreat as they all left through the ship's emergency exits. At one point, Kai was knocked down by one of the soldiers in an attempt to subdue him, but surprisingly, he was saved by Tox and Chamille, who knocked out the soldier. Kai thanked the girls and insisted they escape with the other androids. Along the way, Kai didn't hesitate to protect the androids.

Cole ran through the entire ship to reach the engine room, and along the way, he didn't hesitate to stop several soldiers to save the androids who were still unable to escape. Even during the androids' escape, several soldiers managed to intercept several emergency exits.

During Nya, Jay, and Lloyd's escape, a bullet hit Jay in the leg. Nya tried to help him, but Jay insisted they run away. He promised to catch up with her once she recovered from her wound. Lloyd didn't want to abandon him, but Nya insisted they keep running. She helped Jay hide, and then they continued on their way. Nya and Lloyd were almost surrounded by soldiers, but Kai arrived to protect them and clear a path. He helped Nya as she grabbed Lloyd and guided them to an exit that led just outside the ship.

But then some soldiers arrived immediately and surrounded them. Kai stood in front of the androids and asked them to calm down and lower their weapons. However, the soldiers remained unfazed and ordered Kai to surrender. Garmadon unexpectedly arrived and lunged at an agent. Kai took advantage of this situation to use his weapon and shoot the soldiers. The androids managed to take cover and flee another way. Lloyd saw how the soldier knocked down by his father broke free and didn't hesitate to shoot him to stop him. Lloyd tried to go to where his father was, but Nya managed to hold him. Kai was the one who knocked down the last soldier. He managed to reach Garmadon and tried to stop the bleeding. At that point, with all the strength he could, Garmadon confessed that he followed the soldiers when he saw them leave the police station. He went to the place to see if Kai had heard from his son. When he saw the soldiers heading towards Shintaro, he believed that Nya would also be there with Lloyd.

Garmadon's wound was serious, and Kai knew he wouldn't have much time. Even in his final moments, Garmadon asked to see Lloyd. Nya let Lloyd approach his father, and Garmadon could only apologize while crying. Before dying, Garmadon wished his son and Nya a good life while also apologizing to her, and asked her to take good care of Lloyd. Lloyd cried a little over his father as Kai insisted they continue fleeing while he returned inside the ship to continue helping the androids.

Cole had finally reached the ship's engine and activated the bomb's countdown. He informed the androids still on the ship to hurry and evacuate. On the way back, he found Mystake, badly injured. As a last request, Mystake asked Cole to protect the androids. Cole managed to meet up with Zane, Geo, Vania, and Plundar to flee the ship. They all quickly jumped out as the explosion erupted behind them. On the shore, Kai helped them out of the water, and they all went to their car. Cole told him where they would all meet up, and the place turned out to be an abandoned theater near the docks. There, all of Shintaro's androids gathered and managed to create a new shelter. Luckily, they managed to save several crates of spare parts and blue tyrium, and they used it to heal the wounded.

Today the first trailer for Ninjago Dragons Rising Season 4 Part 2 was released, and here are my predictions:

The return to the Never Realm is definitely what I'm most looking forward to, not only to find out what happened to the Ninjas' allies and friends, but also to see what other important revelations that realm will show us.

Euphrasia will officially join the Ninjas! (Or well, maybe she'll join them temporarily and then return to the Cloud Realm to resume her duties as protector and scribe of destiny).

The new character, Zilvar, certainly looks interesting. Many say that he will initially be an antagonist for the Ninjas since he will be influenced by Ra's al Ghul, but then they say that he will join their side for a while, only to ultimately betray them, either by personal choice or due to some negative influence (perhaps the weapon).

It's also speculated that Ras literally resurrected him to have him as his servant or as someone disposable, since a comic confirms that Ras himself was responsible for the elimination of his tribe, all because they refused to help him discover the hidden magic he uses in the second season to summon the Forbidden Five.

I'm also surprised to see how modern Ninjago City has become. Thanks to the Fusion, the citizens of Ninjago have added more technology to their city, and even added flying cars to their streets. Here I can see a good balance between modernity and advanced technology. Furthermore, there was no need to modernize the city like they did in season 3.

What intrigues me most is the possibility that we might finally see what or who caused Jay's amnesia, and seeing mysterious figures in knight armor behind the Ninjas makes me think that we might see a new kingdom introduced this season. There is a rumor that this part will include the relationship between the leaders of various kingdoms who will meet in a kind of council to establish new rules after the disasters caused by Ras and the Five Forbidden Ones, and the ninjas will be the intermediaries in trying to prevent the leaders from fighting each other in case they have various difficulties.

Headcanons:

Kai and Skylor have known each other since high school. They both lost their families at a young age due to natural causes; all they had in the world was each other. They became boyfriend and girlfriend after graduating from the police academy. Their relationship lasted a long time. They both dreamed of starting a family. They were a very famous detective couple at the station.

But everything changed when Skylor was killed in a shootout by men seeking revenge on Kai. As a lieutenant, Kai managed to become a hero to the city after capturing many criminals and dismantling many smuggling networks, including the notorious drug RED ICE. Several of the smugglers who managed to escape from Kai joined forces to seek revenge on the police lieutenant. They managed to investigate his private life and set a trap for him while he was with Skylor on one of his routine patrols around the city.

The drug dealers blocked Kai and Skylor's exits to prevent them from escaping, but luckily, they managed to call for backup over the radio. It was a terrible situation for both police officers; unfortunately, Skylor was shot several times while trying to cover for Kai, who was also injured. Help arrived in time after Kai cold-bloodedly killed the drug dealers who attacked him. Medics took Skylor to the hospital, but that night, the only available surgeon secretly drugged himself with RED ICE. With no more human surgeons available, a medical android performed emergency surgery on Skylor. However, wasting time finding another human doctor, Skylor was unable to resist and died in the operating room. This devastated Kai when Wu broke the news to him, after he too had received emergency care.

Since then, Lieutenant Kai has lived bitterly, depressed, and with excessive anger and sadness, even with the trauma of having murdered the drug dealers who attacked him in cold blood. Captain Wu, obviously, didn't reprimand him, as he was in a life-or-death situation. Furthermore, no civilians were injured; the case was ignored by the news, and Kai hasn't taken on many homicide cases since, spending his days blaming himself and drinking in numerous bars around the city. He alienated everyone and became extremely angry at people, even the androids, coming to hate them for reminding them that the android assigned to operate on Skylor had failed to save her. He received several warnings and several disciplinary reports, but that didn't matter to Kai; losing Skylor made him feel lost and alone in the world.

Kai may not have proven himself the most capable for his job, but he still possesses the skills of a professional, even in his deplorable condition. He still hates those who use RED ICE, and on Wu's orders, he attended therapy sessions organized by the police department for officers suffering from stress or witnessing serious problems on the job. Kai didn't last long, so Wu didn't persist. When his depression worsens, Kai always has a single-shot revolver ready, and fearing suicidal thoughts, Kai began taking antidepressants, but he doesn't take them daily, as work distracts him from those thoughts. He even started gambling at several of the bars he went to.

Zane turned on Kai's radio and tried to entertain himself by listening to his heavy metal playlist. He also checked his tablet and the other Divergent Android case reports. He even watched a traffic video of the car stolen by the android Nya leaving the city. But he couldn't help but notice Kai's pose as he gazed at the city skyline. He was still sipping his beer, but not with the enthusiasm he'd come to know.

Zane was even more curious about Kai, so he couldn't resist and decided to get out of the car and approach him. He turned off the radio and sauntered over to where Kai was sitting, drinking a beer. Kai obviously noticed Zane's presence next to him, and the only thing he mentioned was that he'd been to that park before. Zane wasn't sure if he'd mentioned it while drunk or if he'd just said it. Zane was afraid asking him would trigger another fit of rage in Kai, but curiosity won out. He asked him why Kai didn't go to that park anymore. Kai tried to respond, but ultimately remained silent and continued drinking.

Zane wasn't sure if it was a good idea, but he asked if the visit to the park was due to the photo of the woman he saw at Kai's house. Zane revealed it was Skylor Chen, a detective with the police department with extensive experience. But the strange thing was that the photo showed Kai standing next to her. Thanks to other police files Zane reviewed, he discovered that Kai and Skylor were colleagues at the station.

Apparently, Kai didn't have one of his typical tantrums and simply mentioned to Zane that Skylor was his fiancée, but that she had passed away a month before their wedding. The park was a popular hangout for both of them, and Skylor's favorite. The plan was to get married in one of the park's open areas, but Kai stopped going after Skylor's death. Zane doesn't know how Skylor died, as records only indicate that she was killed in the line of duty.

Not wanting to push Kai further, Zane changed the subject and went back to the Divergent androids. Zane was still wondering why the androids kept acquiring those human sensations, and as for the famous "rA9" code, Zane didn't know if it was a software glitch, but he didn't seem to want to convince himself that the androids had actually acquired self-awareness. Kai, still drinking, reminded Zane that all the androids they investigated had justifiable reasons for doing what they did, things that humans would do as well.

But then Kai confronted Zane about the times he hesitated to catch the Divergent androids. He reminded him of the peace of mind he gave Cryptor before they destroyed him, Echo's interrogation of what happened to Nya, Jay, and Lloyd on the highway, the Eden Club incident with the two android girls, or when he decided to save him instead of capturing the mysterious android that fled the building. Zane didn't know how to respond. He mentioned that he only acted as the situation unfolded, but Kai reminded him that his orders were to capture the androids at all costs, and yet, Zane let them go without having to send them to CyberLife.

Kai also mentioned that the androids shared a feeling: the fear of dying. Without hesitation, Kai drew his gun and pointed it at Zane, asking him if he was also becoming a Divergent, or if he was at least afraid of dying. Zane was obviously scared, but he also didn't want to admit he wasn't a Divergent, so he was honest with Kai. He admits he was scared, but didn't know if this made him a Divergent android. Kai simply lowered his gun and took another beer from the pack as he headed elsewhere. Zane wanted to follow him, but Kai asked him to just wait in the car since he needed to be alone for a few moments. Zane simply obeyed Kai and got back in the car to wait for him, but with the doubt of what Kai had implanted in his head, if he was really becoming a Divergent.

When Kai returned to the car, neither of them said anything, and Kai just sent Zane to the police station since he couldn't return to CyberLife yet. Kai asked Wu if Zane would stay at the station that night. Wu agreed while Kai returned home. Before leaving, Wu allowed Zane to review the station's files if that would help him in his investigation.

I really like the part where Connor goes to Hank's house after we've gotten along well, depending on the decisions I've made in the game.

If the ninjas had stuck together after what happened to Zane in season three, Kai would probably be in a very similar situation to Hank's.

Now it's the other characters' turn XD Cole taking on the title of revolutionary, while Nya and Jay must assume their role as full-time "parents" to Lloyd.

Headcanons:

Once Nya and Lloyd made it to the city, Nya's mission was to find shelter for Lloyd, but first they got some food for Lloyd. Luckily, Lloyd managed to stash his meager savings in his backpack. His father, Garmadon, only gave him money when he went to school, but Lloyd always saved it for him. Nya managed to buy him cookies and water that would last him at most a week if Lloyd was careful how he drank it.

Nya found an abandoned building that seemed perfect for spending the night, so Lloyd could rest while Nya looked for an escape route from Ninjago to another place where she wouldn't be hunted for being an android. However, the place was occupied by a Divergent android named Jay, a WR600 garbage collector android. He had scars in his synthetic fluid, wore somewhat worn and torn civilian clothes, and had also removed his LED.

Jay promised Nya he wouldn't hurt them, believing them to be humans since she hadn't had a good experience with them. Jay kindly let Nya and Lloyd stay in his abandoned building. Although it looked abandoned from the outside, the inside was somewhat remodeled. There were many garbage sculptures and many disassembled and reassembled appliances. Jay even had a television and a laptop.

Once settled in, Nya was very grateful to Jay and told him why she and Lloyd were in this situation as fugitives. Jay understood the situation and even explained why he lived in the building. Jay claimed to be an android WR600 tasked with collecting trash in Ninjago City, but a drunken human took revenge by attacking him with an iron bar. Jay managed to see the rA9 code, challenged its programming, and defended himself against the human who was beating him. It didn't cause serious harm, but it did cause the human to flee in terror. Fearing that he would be disconnected, Jay fled and hid in the abandoned building.

While with Cole, he found clues that would lead him to Shintaro. The first clue he found was at one of Ninjago's train stations. He then explored the rooftops of several buildings. This path led him to an old, abandoned port on a large, old, and neglected freighter. While exploring the place, he began to investigate, but due to the lack of support inside, Cole fell to several lower levels of the ship. When he managed to get out of the water, he received help from other androids who guided him to a clear area where there were other androids, all Divergent.

Three of the main androids, in charge of managing and caring for the place, introduced themselves to Cole: the first android was Plundar, the third was named Geo, and the third, Vania. The three welcomed Cole and mentioned that Shintaro was the only place where androids could live freely without having to obey human orders. Cole noticed that the word rA9 was carved on several walls and that some androids were damaged.

Plundar asked Cole to see Mystake, the founder of the shelter and the first of her group to reveal herself to humans and leave clues for Shintaro. When Cole met Mystake, she turned out to be a CyberLife android, but she was severely damaged and relied on many cables to stay connected. After studying Cole in more detail, Mystake sensed that Cole might be the most capable of freeing all the androids from human oppression by studying their memories.

When Cole saw that the androids were in dire straits, he revealed to Plundar, Geo, and Vania that he planned to go out and search for resources for the injured androids. Cole planned to go to one of the warehouses where several shipments of CyberLife spare parts, blue tyrium, and other androids were being transported to other sections of Ninjago. At this, Vania, Plundar, Geo, and the other androids decided to accompany Cole, as one of them knew where the nearest warehouse was. Cole told everyone it was time to rebel against humans and show them they weren't just plastic creatures, but living beings capable of making their own decisions and living in freedom. This made all of Shintaro's androids support Cole's plan, earning him the initial approval of everyone in Shintaro.
