With how they’d gotten to Teyvat, and what she’d already had taken from her, she couldn’t know for certain if she was safe. She and Aether had both learned those lessons the hard way.

Dude it is SO FUN and EXCITING to see a reoccurring reader. If you've commented a handful of times on an author's work, I guarantee that they recognize you. You can't imagine how many times I've excitedly informed my friends "the person with the funny cat image commented!" "- anon is back!!!!" and the friends've recognized who I was talking about because I talk about my commenters so often LOL. We love you all!!!

You know what?

I love you, fics that take months to update. I click on the newest chapter and have no memory of this place and get to go back some chapters and rediscover how much i love everything about this story.

I love you, fics that take years to update. I think of you fondly, and know your names, go search for you and see an update from this year and scream, diving in uncaring of any missed details (i will finish the update and read you in reverse because this is a treat you have bestowed)

I love you, fics that probably will never update again. Thank you for being a roman empire for my mind, thank you for teaching me about the ephemeral fandom experience, for inspiring a thousand million what if-s, for being a comfort read and a nostalgia read and a reread.

I love you fic writers, who jump into projects and stories with enthusiasm. I love you when you succeed in pumping out those chapters and that love doesn't go away when you stop.

I love you fic writers who post and then get in your own head and never feel confident enough to update, whether it's at all or whether it's just that one story.

I love you fic writers, who have a fandom or media hurt you to the point of abandoning or having a hard time with their WIPs.

I love you fic writers, who lose interest or have life changes or illness or bad memory. Thank you for being part of the fandom, a core part of the fandom. Thank you for the time spent in the fandom.

I love you, fic writers who try out something new and then stop. You're so valid.

I love you, WIP fics that may or may not ever get finished. Thank you for brightening my day in the way only you could have.

Does AO3 have a plan if queer content get ban in the usa ? Like… they allow everything that is allowed per USA’s law so if they don’t (and even if they do) I strongly advise that y’all download all the queer fic you can…

This is where they are. I saw this comment yesterday. Now as far as I am aware they run on what New York says is or isn't legal.

At this moment in time ao3 should be fine. But I am just putting it out there otw code is free should people want to build their own archive, maybe even out of the US so it isn't touched by any laws they bring in

(I don’t think making a new archive would be the way tbh, we would be losing so many queer works if we just did another one instead of moving the whole ao3 in a safer place in emergencies )

Archives are made every day, they just don't have the user base ao3 does which isn't a good or bad thing just different.

I would advise people to always keep copy of their works just in case the worst does happen or simply just because

Like, they aren't kidding, tho. otw-archive collects nothing of note. Nothing genuinely traceable. If you use a throw-away e-mail, that's it, there's literally no linking you to anyone else. And even THEN, if you're worried about IPs, it's very hard to match user to IP address. Like-- you can't do it from the software, you'd have to do it from the access logs, and lemme tell you, trying to do that would be absolutely fucking bonkers if not logistically impossible.

Also, like-- yes people should make archives! EVERYONE WHO CAN SHOULD. Decentralization can only ever be good for fandom.

The script for the slide is:

This is a snippet from our nginx configuration. 

We access a variable called upstream_result the next slide will show how that is set.

We set a header so we can read it in the application later, this is used for rate limiting. 

And we go to a upstream dependant on the variable.

Lastly note that we log nothing

if we don’t log browsing data we can’t release it if we were subpoenaed for it.

It's possible to read on the Archive without an account completely anonymously. If you do have an account then you would need to turn off your reading history. 

The Archive does record some ip address that are used to change the state of the system, for example posting a work or making a comment. 

Technically cloudflare does record a sample of browsing data for 30 days so we may be able to see some of the information.
