me: i literally couldnt care less about what people think about me
also me:
Able bodied person: I’m tired
What they really mean: I’m tired
Me with multiple chronic illnesses: I’m tired
What I really mean: I can’t even remember the last time when tired meant something other than 24/7 agonizing exhaustion, that this has become my new definition of tired.
I hate when people ask me “what did you do today?” like buddy listen I woke up at noon and then it was five pm okay I don’t kn o w

PSA: Just because your illness is less severe than someone else’s doesn’t mean your battle isn’t difficult. You are not lesser because of that. Everyone’s story is important.
"It changes you in every way possible."
I wrote this essay for The Mighty about living with Chronic Illness. It would mean so much to me if you gave it a read.
Thank you!
Even though most of us chronic illness sufferers feel weak a lot of the time, I think spoonies are some of the strongest people I’ve ever met.
We push through even when it feels like the world is falling down around us, and I think that shows true strength.
How should a sixteen-year-old react to the news that her world will be entirely new from this day forward. How should a student tell their classmates they aren’t leaving school because they don’t want to be there, but because they can’t even manage to be anywhere without being tired and in pain. How should a mother comfort their child who has had their friends turn their backs on them because they can’t understand that just because you cannot see I’m sick doesn’t mean that I am not. How does a medical professional look in the eyes of a desperate young patient and reduce what they are feeling as something they are making up for attention. “How can someone who looks so healthy be so sick inside?” They ask. If you could feel how I feel, you would never question it again.

Midweek roll call - everyone still alive?
You are a poem that not
everyone can understand
A language that not
All can learn.
I understand the frustration
Of wanting your words to
Be universal, but not everything
is a perfect translation.
You will one day be heard.
You are someone who will
Change the world,
Don’t give up just yet.

Chronically ill problems #82
Getting a full 12+ hour night sleep and still waking up so exhausted that you wonder if your eyes ever actually fully shut during the night.
Spoonie Problems #4
When you discover that something you thought was normal is actually a symptom and most definitely doesn’t happen in non-chronically-ill people
What is one piece of advice or words of wisdom you wish you would’ve received when you were first diagnosed?
I wish I had known I wasn’t alone and it was going to get better. Not necessarily better in terms of completely recovering, but that I would learn how to live my life the way I needed to with my illness. Also, that I would, despite all the set backs and hard times, still be happy in my life.
Send me an ask or reply to this with your answers! I can’t wait to read them!
