Revitrans-feminine: a term describing a gender identity in which a transmasculine individual finds a newfound reconnection with femininity through the process of their transition (social, medical, etc.); one who feels a revised, distinctly transgender connection to femininity through their transmasculinity
there are no restrictions on who may use this label; if you feel it fits, you may use it. an example of the way I identify with this label for clarity's sake:
i am a bigender butch transmasculine individual. after beginning hormone replacement therapy, i felt myself becoming more comfortable identifying as both male and female simultaneously. my feminine identity post-transition is not the same as the femininity forced onto me through my childhood & adolescence; it is distinctly transgender in nature, not cisgender. i feel that through the process of transmasculine transition, i have developed a revised relationship with femininity.
thus, i identify as revitrans-feminine.

this is a coining post for a term wei have been floating around for a bit internally, but wanted to share. wei haven't been able to find a label that accurately describes our experiences, particularly the ways that our identity as transfeminine is distinguished from others through the way we discovered it and interact with the world.
there has been so much discourse surrounding "afab transfem"/"amab transmasc" identities, often filled to the brim with many transphobic (and anti-multigender) sentiments on both sides. wei have struggled to have productive discussion about people who share this experience of reconnecting with their gender assigned at birth in a new & distinct way from when it was forced upon us -- an experience that is definitively transgender in nature, and is interconnected with our initial transgender identity as well.
this term is not meant to imply that revitrans- individuals have the same relationships with systemic oppression based on AGAB as other transgender individuals, in fact, it is the opposite. my experience as revitrans-feminine is simply not going to be the same as AMAB transfems. my interactions with transmisogyny on a daily basis are not the same, either. regardless, wei firmly believe that our relationship with gender should not be defined by the oppression we face. multigendered identity is complicated and nuanced, and this term serves to define just one of many multigendered experiences. this term does NOT reflect a desire to appropriate any groups experiences, but rather, a unique multigender experience that maintains connections to a more common/coloquial understanding of transfemininity/transmasculinity
respectful discussion in the replies/reblogs/tags of this post are absolutely encouraged, but interactions that are bad faith, aggressive, and non-productive will not be entertained or tolerated. skepticism is fine, but please enter conversations seeking understanding, rather than looking to win a debate.

Stratt was a historian. She wasn't just pirating for the sake of entertainment for the astronauts, she was doing a full historical backup of the planet. Who knows how much knowledge and communications ability, how much art and culture and history, how much niche knowledge of how to make specific pieces of modern technology or modern medicines, was lost as the wars for resources isolated everyone, as the death tolls led to the deaths of specialized trade workers and scientists, as the power grids failing across the planet (or cut off, potentially) led to all the cloud servers going dark. Stratt was facing methods of combating extinction and she did her best to ensure that if/when the Hail Mary worked, it would send back not just the hope of the future in the solution to the astrophage, but the restoration of history and culture and knowledge.
Just.... she pirated everything, and put it all on the Hail Mary.
a funny thing about having conversations with people within institutions (academic in this case but also others) about gatekeeping, is that you end up having a conversation over and over in which you're like, "hey this alligator spike pit moat you have erected around your institution is keeping a lot of people out," and they're like, "well *I* navigated the alligator spike pit moat just fine," and you're like, "right. by dint of us having this conversation, you within the institution and me without, it is understood that you navigated the alligator spike pit moat. due to that being an inherent requirement of entering the institution," and they're like, "I don't think you understand the prestigious history of our alligator spike pit moat," and you're like, "is there a reason why there needs to be an alligator spike pit moat encircling the concept of higher education?" and they're like, "look, the alligator spike pit moat isn't for everyone. some people just aren't cut out for the alligator spike pit moat :)" and you're like, "right, yeah, like disabled people and people coming from poverty or unstable home environments or underserved communities or people dealing with difficult to navigate life events like pregnancy or abuse or prison or addiction or the death of a loved one, for example" and they're like, "how dare you imply that we are keeping those people out on purpose. it's their own problem if they can't wrestle the alligators and avoid the spikes while also disabled and/or poor and/or pregnant etc" and you're like, "well that seems evil," and they're like, "it sounds like maybe you're just bitter about the alligator spike pit moat because of your totally random individual experience with ONE bad alligator spike pit moat. have you considered therapy?" and you're like, "did you know that there's some patterns here in terms of how y'all are handling this stuff?" and they're like, "actually yes. we even have a department of alligator spike pit studies :)" and you're like, "that's great, how do I get access to and participate in those conversations?" and they're like, "well firstly you must cross the alligator spike pit moat"

The mythical disabled person who is so disabled that everyone consistently supports and accommodates them without question is a straw man which only exists as a hypothetical for the political purpose of denying real disabled people care while still being able to argue that said care would be accessible to disabled people who "actually deserves it"
Okay so. Reminder for everyone about the double bind. I feel like a lot of recent discorse has forgotten it.
women who are feminine will be demeaned, not taken seriously, and seen as lesser. Women who are masculine are going to be seen as improper, scandalous, and dangerous. there is no middle ground here, you just are punished no matter what you do.
and i think we forget this when applying to trans people. no trans person of any gender is rewarded for acting in anyways. trans men are not rewarded for being masculine. nor are trans women. nor vice versa. enben arent gaining advantages being fem or masc in any way, its just a change in reason to oppress them. There is a double bind that will punish you no matter what.
So stop talking about trans men being rewarded by the patriarchy or trans women getting benefits for being feminine. we are all victims of the double bind and the only way out is liberation. There are no "ideal" trans people under our current society for you to get mad about.
PLUS THE RACIAL TRIPLE BIND. RACIALIZED PEOPLE HAVE ANOTHER AXIS OF THE BIND AND ARE PUNISHED HARSHER AND MORE STRICTLY

IDK I think if cis men are being told that being fat will lower their testosterone and make them Insufficiently Masculine, and cis women are being told that being fat will raise their testosterone and make them Excessively Masculine, and fat trans people are being denied the right to medically transition if they're fat, and thin trans people are warned against HRT because it will make them fat (and this is said about both testosterone and estrogen HRT), and androgynous-presenting people are told that only thin people count as androgynous...
