I Defeated the Demon Lord but it Turns Out the Demon Army was Largely Unaffected and I Fell Victim to a Flawed Belief in Great Man Theory
I Executed The Demon Lord With One Flawless Strike And After A Brief Power Struggle The New Demon Government Is Substantially More Committed To The War Because Of Some Reason I Don't Know
I Successfully Overthrew The Demon Lord And Instituted Demon Democracy But They Voted For A Commie So The CIA Not Some Fantasy Equivalent The Actual CIA Who Have Known About Magic And Alternate Realms The Whole Damn Time But Won't Just Unisekai Me Launched A Counter Coup And That's When Things Really Went To Shit
One of the best stories humanity ever produced was a draft of a rewrite of the Epic of Gilgamesh written by a Ecuadorian poet in 1935. It was tossed into a fireplace by an angry boy and lost forever. Another of humanity's best was told 65,000 years ago and was overheard by a small tribe of embarked Neanderthals boating down a river in what is now northern Georgia. A short woman at the bank scrubbed a wooden idol in the water and sang an ancient tale in an unknown language. These two are eclipsed by everything produced by two brothers at the coast of what is now Cameroon between 503 BC and 490 BC, which they shared with some family and friends, and were beloved by everyone except a sour uncle.
hey so can somebody please do something about all of this
Trying to have a cute homoerotic sword duel with my narrative foil but she refuses to engage with any of my banter and just goes for the kill shot every time
Part of me is starting to wonder if she wants to actually just kill me
Some fake things that aren't real are low key really importsnt
beauty addicts are always like "can we stop by that river for a time? I haven't been before" but they have. it's a semantics issue.
it's literally not the same.

Recent posting trends caused me to slowly remember a double dactyl that I wrote in 2007, which went from being, yesterday, a flicker of an impression of something I might once have thought--under the dark, under the park, tunnel that's under a park?--to complete phrases until at dinner tonight I remembered about Joyce and fluorescence and everything except the opening nonsense syllables, which I had to recover by finding where I originally wrote the thing down--which is funny, because I think reading those syllables on the wall was the only reason I thought of making a double dactyl in the first place. (I got them slightly wrong actually--it's "hitherandthithering" and it's from Finnegans Wake.)
so, a 19-year-old contribution to the moment:
Hithering-thithering: Joyce on the walls of the long subway tunnel be- neath Bryant Park;
words about night nearly unrecognizable under fluorescence that wards off the dark.
Among the Waves by Ivan Aivazovsky
i told tumblr user yaoist about this last night but the premise of this story is well, Literally Several Years Ago there was a post on here challenging people to write a solarpunk story with the driving plot of a noir (unfortunately in the years since this post originally crossed my dash i have come to find the og tumblr user very annoying lol), and way back then i had an idea for that story but flopped very hard at writing it because i was bad at writing short fiction back then and I meandered all over the place and never actually got to the story happening. i am at least aware of that problem about myself now so i figured it was time to tackle the idea again
anyway so this story is about like, maltese falcon style a woman comes to the detective asking for help finding her sister who's gone missing. she's been living in this commune but it turns out that everybody in the solarpunk commune fucking hates her guts for a variety of reasons, and one day she gets high and drives out into the desert and her car breaks down. and she tries calling for help but everybody in her little commune refuses to answer the phone. so she dies of exposure in the desert. there's a little bit more stuff that happens in the story but at the end of the day it's about how if you have to depend on your idyllic community, no matter how chill it is, and they decide they hate you, well. you are in danger.
so it's. well. people who are into solarpunk probably will not like it. but it's the only solarpunk story i think i could write.
completely sober in the club dressed in the raiment of the torturers guild
hey man I'm the torturer [shaking your hand and detecting apprehension] that just means it's my job to torture people [visibly uncomfortable] there are lots of people like me
I think it would be really wonderful if seagulls were constructed more like bottles with a mystery inside. What I'm imagining is that were you to catch one, you could then unscrew its face and there would be a glowing gem nestled in some sort of socket. The Core of the Gull so to speak. Then you could swap that around with other seagulls, and after screwing the faces back on they would fly off as if nothing happened. Hm... Is this too esoteric, or do some of you see what I am getting at?
every day i get to work and i rappel into the big hole with a helmet with a light on it on my head. and i damn well stay down there until i find the item. and i damn well do find it.
